  1. Wookiee, Nice track, had a few listens through. Not sure why but it reminds me of some of Bowie's works. Very interesting and super enjoyable listen. Regards
  2. Daryl - Thanks for the listen, appreciate it. Hope all is going well in the UK. Beagle - thank you for the listen. Fortunately had a lot to start with in Tom's original solo piece. Was a lot of fun to develop the supporting pieces, although, the solo piece really already stood on it's own. In any event, glad you liked it and that Tom let me experiment with his song. GuitarTrek- Thank you for the comment and listen. Appreciate it...... Still have a few of our collabs I need to finish. Regards
  3. Thanks everyone for having a listen, very much appreciated. Hopefully got the Thank You's correct, I don't do too much social media type stuff:) Regarding the Saxes, they actually are real saxes, real players in BIAB. The challenge with BIAB comes in cutting and pasting something that sounds realistic as they kind of take licks a player would use over a chord and then splice performances together. If you just enter chords and take what you get, in many cases (most cases) they don't sound convincing. Generally what I do is render out 6 or 7 copies of a solo idea and then splice things together in a way I think sounds convincing or how a player might approach a specific song. Thanks again to everyone for taking the time to have a listen to this project. Regards
  4. Douglas, Really enjoyed the song, and quite an excellent mix, particularly the vocals are upfront and are processed very well. LTDR following Going Away is a really good one as well. Regards
  5. Bjorn, Saw a little of this last week but didn't have time to get very far (at work:)) Had a chance to watch, and listen, to the whole thing. Really cool what you did with this old film. Your additions are very supportive and if Omnisphere existed in 1931 they probably would have done something similar. Really enjoyed it, and recalling what a scary character Bela was.
  6. Here is an original song written by EmeraldSoul and posted by him some time ago on the Forum as a piano solo track. I thought it was a great song and asked him if I could take a stab at working out some string parts for it and he graciously provided a MIDI track of his original solo piece. Went a little past just a string arrangement and this post is the result of the project effort. Piano played by EmeraldSoul, I did the string arrangements and the other parts, the sax solos (Soprano and Alto) were generated by BIAB and pieced together to create a fluid solo piece. Many of the arrangement ideas were also provided by ES and I greatly appreciate him letting me work on his song, it was a lot of fun. Hope you enjoy. The Surf

Musically it sounds like something a classical composer (Bach, et. al.) may have put together if you teleported a synthesizer back in time. The layering and effects are really fantastic. The Arturia Mellotron sounds great, have used it on a few Elton John covers and it is very convincing. You have done something a little outside the scope of your average Mellotron player. I like it, had to have a few listens through:) Good stuff. Regards
  8. Starise, I like what you've done here, a few timing issues here and there but the melodic and harmonic content is really well done. Arrangement is good. The only "crit" I would have is I'm not sure the title matches the mood, i.e. while the music has some ominous qualities reminiscent of Jerry Goldsmith, it is still uplifting in many ways. Maybe more uplifting than not? Not sure, in event, I really liked the music., not so much the title. Regards
  9. Thanks guys, really appreciate the listen. The 80's were a fun time musically, the hair and clothing styles were quite amusing too:) Regards

    Look Ahead

Yes, that's really good, it really took the edge off the organ and blends much better with the rest of the track. Vocals seems to be much clearer as well. Very cool track. Regards
  11. Very pro production, enjoyed listening a few times through. Singer is fantastic. The arrangement is good, everything in its' place. Regards
  12. Wookie, Cool track, I like how your main synth sounds on the edge of breakup (distortion) but not too over-powering. Gives it a nice classic prog sound. The drum break around 3:03 is so well programmed, not easy to make fills like that sound realistic. Very good stuff. Regards
  13. This isn't a production type answer but I think the thing most guitar players struggle with (after tone and technique) is timing. For that reason, whenever I record guitar I mute everything except drums and bass so I can hear clearly that I am in the pocket and gelling with the other ("players") Players in my case are generally MIDI parts. I find all the other parts distracting and many times a loud backing track is masking poor timing during performance on guitar, or other instruments, during the recording process. That said, you will hear the problems on playback:) Timing certainly contributes to a full sound which I think was part of your question. I certain am a fan of flashy guitar playing but will take a good player, with good timing, playing in the pocket over flashy any day. Hope this is useful. Regards

Lynn - Cool song. Your chords choices are very interesting throughout, a lot of unexpected twists and turns in a good way. The only suggestion i would have to your current mix is the organ is a bit overpowering in places. Maybe some slow panning (like Soundtoys Panman) or rotary would add some dimension and take the edge off when it comes in. Really like the song, guitar intro is fantastic. Regards
  15. Tom- fantastic track. Played and mixed very well. Now have to go find some Chicago-style pizza and bratwurst for lunch:) Super fun song and performance. Regards
  16. Thanks guy, appreciate the listen and comment. Was a fun tune to reproduce and a really awesome movie as well. Regards
  17. Cover of Axel F by Harold Faltermeyer. Using SonicProjects OP-X Pro Axel F presets for most of the sounds. Drums are Arturia SparkVintage Drum Machine using LinnDream kit. Some NI percussion and drum hits. White noise clicks are Arturia ARP 2600 with SoundToys PanMan. OP-X had a preset for them but they didn't sound convincing to me. https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14080499 Just playing around trying to capture that 80's mix vibe after some inspiration from John Bradley's recent 80's cover posts:) Regards
  18. Fantastic Cover from start to finish.
  19. John, Pretty respectable cover you did here. Lot of subtleties in this song that you captured very well and the groove, most importantly, is spot on. Really good job. Regards
  20. Although a Queen fan I never heard any of their solo stuff including this song. You did a really awesome job and after hearing the Roger Taylor version, I like your backing track better. I think it has a better overall sound and flow than the original (IMHO). Vocals are really good and a seriously good mix. Regards
  21. Nice cover, well mixed, well performed and you can't ask for more than that:) The only thing I would change is that drum fill around 2:10-2:11, to me the fill breaks the momentum of the verse. I would start the drum groove without the fill at 2:10, maybe put a short fill ahead of that 2:10 mark to give a hint the drums and bass are coming. But really fantastic work, had a couple listens through. Regards
  22. Well you fooled me:) Seriously though, my observation is based on timing, phrasing and note choices/melody. When I listen to guitar players that I like, it is usually about these elements ahead of speed, tone and other factors. I think the overall feel of your guitar playing is really good and very much enjoyed the tracks. Very convincing. Regards
  23. Very well done, I like all the songs but gravitate more toward the ones with the edgier guitar sounds. Couple tracks have a Frank Gambale vibe to them. Had a number of his instructional DVD's and hear some similarities or influences. Certainly not bad company to be in:) The tracks are well played, well mixed and the songs are all unique in their own right. Listened to the whole thing this afternoon at work and will probably have another listen over the weekend. Nice work across the board and enjoyed the songs and your playing very much. Regards
  24. Keith, Great job, had to go back and listen to the Beatles version again. I actually prefer your arrangement and tempo over the original. Vocals are really well done. Regards
