  1. I would first ask myself why, What triggers the meters to change, is it a new project, is it an existing project which the change occurs ? Now as far as I know there are no bugs in the meters resetting themselves (though ive been wrong before). The only thing that could possibly be changing your meters is using a Lens (or maybe a locked Screenset < im not sure on the Screenset). You might also be able to quick group meter changes. This would save you potential clicks until you figure out why your meter settings are changing.
  2. That's what I was thinking. I cant even find the Pro Box company anymore. Im not sure how much work it would be to make my own but it would be worth it for 24 channels.
  3. I hope not. im very happy with UI of Cakewalk
  4. Any idea about the pro box ? Im just wondering if I have a 24 channel (motorized faders) paperweight.
  5. That's exactly what I was looking for Thanks. Im hoping I can avoid that ProBox and just use the Midi card (that's in a slot on the main board) for MCU. Any idea what that Midi port sends ?
  6. It has 24 motorized faders, a motorized master fader, Jog wheel, M/S/R buttons, Play/Stop/Rec buttons. I have no idea what your talking about here. ^^
  7. I just got one of these 24 channel Mackie d8b boards for free. . I want to use it as a DAW controller. Ive done some research but I cant really figure it out. The board has a midi ext slot. can I just plug in this midi and run MCU through it ? Or do I need the ProBox serial/usb box ? Thank you for any help. I know this isn't a direct Cakewalk only question. but I am trying to interface to it.
  8. Locked clips ? I would make sure none of your clips have been locked. this is all I can really think of off the top of my head.
  9. I do about 20% midi / 80% Audio. I prefer not to do all my work in the box as many of my outboard gear has special output transformers, variable impendence, and Class A tube Mic pre amps. No matter what you do, you'll never get a PC to sound authentic enough to replicate that. That being said, There's a lot of great plug ins that do an amazing job. I've always seen Cakewalk as a Midi friendly DAW.
  10. you really need to start at 101.00 for Clip follows project to work correctly. You don't need to bounce the clips all to one clip (though I personally would) Just grab all the clips and drag them back to 101.00. Once complete with Clip follows project you can grab those clips with Ripple editing and move them back into place when ever you have them.
  11. I believe the Sonitus presets are stored in the registry. What might be a better idea is to set up the plug in just how you like it and create a FX chain preset instead. You can still create a chain with one plug in and it stores all plug in data.
  12. I use onboard graphics as well (Intel) and try to keep them updated as much as possible or oddity's will rear their ugly heads. Glad to see all is fixed and VU's are swinging nicely.
  13. Cakewalk did some upgrades to the Plug in Browser a while back which kind of made the Magic menu obsolete in my opinion.
  14. I would definitely look in to what @Kev said. I haven't seen this in a long time. EDIT: Ive never seen 2 Nowtime bars but I have seen it disappear a couple years back.
  15. There are many times we want to keep smaller clips. Its because of tails and/or Slip edit data beyond the point of the clips boundary's. But generally for midi, its less of a necessity. Once you have 2 or 3 clips (take note to ones on top of each other) that's when to use Bounce to clips. This will Heal your 2 or 3 clips in to 1 whole clip. it is also imperative for "future fool proof use".
  16. Yeto, I just mentioned this on your other thread about the Midi Indicators (Clip icons). I mentioned the threat of double notes (midi notes on top of each other) when things get a bit sloppy. No worry though. Others have mentioned some good suggestions. Buy default double notes in the Piano roll view are darker in color, problem is, not dark enough for a human eye to see . A cal script works wonder to clean those up but I suggest getting in the habit of using Bounce to clips, it will solve 90% of your clip, double notes, 80 clips per track problems.
  17. Understand the photo resolution isn't great from your example, but I agree with what others are saying.. It appears you have one whole clip (Gm7) with several clips (C9) drag and dropped on top. This is a good way to result in double notes (midi notes on top of one another) if your not careful. What a lot of us typically do is use the Bounce to clips feature very often and often again. This is basic house cleaning, especially editing midi. No worries, these are things that come with time. If you are new to Cakewalk and putting together midi tracks, your on the right road. Keep up the good work. As Synkotron said. ^^^^
  18. Might help if you listed the Keyboard type. Typically ACT assigns defaults for most generic keyboard controllers.
  19. +1 to that. Seems to take care of a few lingering issues.
  20. Some really good info in this thread. Thank you guys for sharing it.
  21. Hi and welcome to the forum, This kind of sounds like an Input Echo issue to me. If your recording the Audio from your Keyboard, it should be going to an Audio track (no rocket science there) And Input echo should be off on your midi tracks or it has the potential to trigger midi notes. Turning off Input Echo in the midi tracks might even solve part of your "question #2". Any other midi devices hooked up ? Controller, Control surface, exc ?
  22. doesn't sound like bios issue to me. If Sonar is working and CbB is not that really wouldn't indicate a bios problem, more a problem specific to CbB. Updates to C++ and Visual library's typically come wrapped with CbB installers but if something prevented it from installing (Anti virus, corrupt installer) than you'll need to reinstall those.
  23. Great, great harmony's. Not my genre but I know a good song when I hear it. The mix/master doesn't do this song any justice. I would remix this song and try to make it bigger, louder while still retaining some of the dynamics.
  24. Bob, cant believe I missed this when you first posted it. Been looking forward to hearing some brand new stuff. I listened to the second mix. This is a really good, catchy song. The chorus has a great hook and the 3rd chorus (with the delayed "die hard.. die hard..") Is my favorite.. personally I think they should all be like that but then again it would probably take away its uniqueness. The only thing I would like to hear beefed up are the drums. They could use a little bang ! (to sound more like a punch in the face). Funny I listen to your songs and there's something I really enjoy about them. I just read your Pennsylvania. I should have known, You have a little bit of that homegrown "Fuel", "Halestorm", "Breaking Benjamin" sound. I love it. Nice little solo too, not over demanding, just right and straight to the point.
  25. I believe its called "Suspend Audio Engine When Cakewalk Is Not in Focus." now.
