  1. Hmmmm, I think I like the cream better. Maybe a mod for the future.
  2. I agree Bill, there is a lot of Internet Hogwash out there. I bought my first LP Standard in 1981 and it was a very nice guitar, in spite of it being labelled a ....Norlin. I have owned (5) Les Paul's in my life time and they have all been exceptional guitars. My newest LP is a 2017 Traditional Plus, bought in 2018 as new, on sale for $1,399. It is by far the best quality, best sounding LP that I have owned to date.
  3. A Miller- 👍 Ed D- Thank you for listening and commenting. Good to hear the mix sounds right. Sean always does excellent work on his guitar solos. Paul- Thank you again for listening. I get the Petty reference a lot. 😎 Daryl- "Wall of Sound" was mentioned by me band mate, Sean when he first heard the mix. He was trying to come up with another guitar rhythm that was different than what I was playing, but complimented it. He went through 4 or 5 different takes with different rhythms and nothing sounded right to me. Finally, he just duplicated my rhythm and it gave that wonderful wall of sound. The Easter Beagle is definitely singing BGV's! I used to get Lennon and Dylan comparisons also. I never knew whether or not the Dylan comments were a compliment or a dig. 😑 I'll take Petty all day long!
  4. Douglas- Thank you for listening and commenting. Glad to hear you like the song. Thank you for the comments on my voice, that means a lot too me. Ed- Thank you for listening and commenting as well. Freddy- Always nice to have you listen and comment, I appreciate it very much. Glad to hear that the mix sounds good to you.
  5. Here is a new song by Scandalous Grace. All comments are welcome. Let us know what you think of the mix and the song. Performed by Scandalous Grace Words & Music: Michael Hanson Sean Peifer: BG Vox, Electric Rhythm, Guitar Solo. Michael Hanson: Lead Vocal, Bass, Electric Rhythm, Drum Programming, Mixing and mastering. Reece Bain: Keys and BGVs.
  6. Nice work Blade, everything sounds awesome. I tried Studio One on 2 of my songs, but just couldn’t get comfortable with it. As soon as Band Lab bought Cake, I was back.
  7. I wish I could un-see this. Socks with sandals is going to scar me for a while.....
  8. No, not really. I am writing and recording primarily Christian Rock with our band. I play mostly modern Worship every Sunday; the real modern stuff. It’s not what is on my radio or iPhone. I’m an old Rock an Blues guy at heart and that’s what I listen to, most of the time. My roots show up still in the music that I write and the way I perform. Many here have made the comment to me, when hearing my work...”very Petty-like on the vocals.
  9. Agree! I think the songs forums can monitor itself.
  10. I record my Bass direct into my Focusrite. I then flip through my preferred IKM Ampeg Sims until I find the one that fits best with the song style and mix. I have one SIM that I favor and usually record initially with that, but check the others later to make sure that another doesn't fit the song better. From there, I will add a little compression. Right now I am really liking the Waves CA 76 Compressor on my bass. Then I EQ, rolling off everything below 25 khz and everything above 2K. I have some notches in between that I either cut or bump slightly, depending on the mix. Some of those notches cut a little mud, others bump some of the upper frequencies if I want a little more high end definition. Most of the time, I am pretty happy with my Bass tone. I am sure if I had some really high end hardware I could probably do better. I also really like the tone of my amp mic'd, but usually don't go through all of the set up time to do that, when I get pretty descent results through the Ampeg SIM. However, more important than any of the above...is a really good Bass, set up well, played really well...and number one, great timing. The ability to play with great timing tops everything, to me.
  11. Has Danzi made the move over to the new forum? I hope they open a Techniques forum here and that Dani makes the migration. Such an excellent Pro and teacher; an extremely valuable resource to have on these forums.
  12. Our band, Scandalous Grace, is virtual, we don't live near each other. Well, at least one of us is on the other side of the country, in California. Reece lives in Ft. Worth and I in east Dallas. Reece and I play live together 3-4 time a year, but Sean is not capable of that, obviously. We have established standards for working together and exchange wav. Tracks through either Drop Box or Google Drive. Pretty simple and works well for us.
  13. I believe that Reece (Beagle) used CDBaby to release our last 2 CD's. I know we have gotten a little traffic on Spotify and Pandora, also on iTunes. Not enough to write home about, but we hope it will help subsidize the next CD. We sold most of our CD's ourselves, if not given them away.
  14. I am still trying to figure out how Band Lab is going to benefit the way I work. I am already collaborating with my band, so I don't really see the need for the collaboration features. I uploaded a couple of songs a while back, but really didn't get any feedback or reaction to them; nor that many views. I am hoping there are benefits that I have just not discovered yet. I am awfully grateful they saved Cakewalk, though.
  15. Maybe I didn’t state it clearly enough. Yes, there should be a Technicques Forum, how can there not be one for a Recording Software.
  16. Cakewalk being a music production software, it would only seem obvious that Techniques would be complimentary to the software.
  17. Metal, when I was younger. Rock definitely. My rock has become lighter with the genre that I now write, but still a rocker at heart.
  18. I use the DAW for... -wrtiting, recording, production of my own music. - tracking, mixing and production of others music. - practicing band songs for playing live music. - backing tracks for live music, as needed.
