  1. Oh. I thought the Meh emoji was a thumbs down, as in "This idea sucks out loud!!!!" whereas a Shrug is more of an "I don't know" or a neutral "I don't know what to say." For me the Sad emoji is also an "I don't know what to say" but with a definite, "but I feel your grief/pain/suffering" sense of empathy. No wonder Asperger diagnoses have been on the rise since the invention and proliferation of emojis--no one can read facial expressions and gestures properly any more! 😉
  2. Underneath the Welcome (upper right corner), click on [ + ] next to the 4 horizontal lines.
  3. Thanks for sharing the most recent news from the FB page. (1) Unfortunately, those of us that don't have FB accounts cannot see the posts. (2) Fortunately, the last several coupon mailings / newsletters have included updates. The most recent e-mail newsletter I received (April 28th) included 8 screen shots. EDIT: I just realized that maybe I shouldn't have shared the details from the e-mail. Not sure the info is posted publicly. So I have deleted the list of details. For those who are opposed to FB for any reason, you might want to check your KV331 e-mails. EDIT 2: They have an official presence on KVR with some information on the SynthMaster 3. The April e-mails have more screen shots than what's currently posted on KVR. Synthmaster users might want to check their e-mails.
  4. Never Mind. I just checked the lyrics and though the devil figures prominently in the song and there's talk about deals with the devil and souls, its not the song you have stuck in your head.
  5. I have the default keybindings, so Y works for me to open up the Help module.
  6. I just checked again. Currently I am getting $69 before logging in. The $29 offer when logged in is back now.
  7. I can understand that it opens by default. For years I chose to have it not open at start up time. It might save a few people some time if there were a check box ("don't show me again") that would toggle check mark for the preference option as long the preference check box wasn't removed. If it were removed, some of us would need a way to turn it back on. Considering how people seem to go crazy if updates aren't done like clockwork, I am not sure this needs to be a priority.
  8. I used to do instrument definitions user banks for a different line of synths. I used Window's Notepad to edit. Later, a fellow user created a patch librarian that had a built-in *.ins file maker. Check to see if Korg has such a utility, or if there is fan of Korg gear that has created a patch librarian that has an *.ins file generator. Several months ago, I found that one major manufacturer had a utility on their site. Not sure if it was Korg, Yamaha, or someone else. Also, you could see if the sysex implementation has a command to output an ascii list of the names of patches in a bank. Any of those methods would be better than typing in all of the names one-by-one from looking at the display. Hope this helps. Not sure if this thread has anything useful, but here it is just in case.
  9. I guess I will have to yell because several times I quoted from the IK website: Wait a sec. Maybe you did read it and changed the website? UPDATE: Maybe the T-RackS webpages have been updated? If so, that does not mean that you didn't say what I quoted! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To be clear, since the IKM website had (and still has) the statement that I quoted, this: is disingenuous. Technically you [IK] did not say those specific words, but the webpage did say and still says:
  10. Thanks for this insight! My previous music PC couldn't handle Sample Tank 4, Syntronik 2, and a number of the newer IK programs. I had been wondering if it was due to graphics library changes (e.g., OpenGL), but CPU support for newer command sets/technology might have been the cause. MODO BASS works, but MODO DRUM has an AVX-required warning. Also, I have been seeking help from Arturia support since some of their recent (2023) updates totally mess up the graphics on my PCs. My PC meets the current requirements which specify OpenGL2, but thanks to you I am now beginning to wonder if they switched to some newer CPU graphics command sets/technology. Apologies for the off topic discussion (its not about InfernalSynth), but I think it fits with the discussion of extended instructions required to make some soft synths work.
  11. I no longer see the $29 offers either. I see $69 for the Aug. Brass whether logged in or not.
  12. FWIW: According to HWInfo64, my PC (2011 era) has an Intel Core i5-3470 which supports AVX. I haven't played around any more than I did the other day, but InfernalSynth loads, runs, and plays sounds. I used Voltage Modular as my plug-in host to test. I am curious why InfernalSynth would work on older CPUs but not newer ones. I don't need to know why, but I am just wondering because I have seen other cases where my older PC can do things when newer PCs can't. I thought my PC was ancient, but it has AVX as well as SSE4.1 and SSE4.2. Anyhow, thanks for the InfernalSynth and for all the details you have been sharing in this thread!!
  13. 22 plugins vs 10 previously. Let me see if I understand. TR 5 used to come with 10 essential plug-ins and now TR5 v.2 has 22 essential plug-ins. BTW, I know that my version doesn't have licenses for the two new ones (The Farm Stone Room for drums and Joe Chiccarelli Vocal Strip). But I still have my original question about the improved audio engine: @Peter - IK Multimedia Does that ^^^^ mean that the v2 version of T-RackS 5 MAX has an improved audio engine over my pre-v2 version? [emphasis added] Additional question: And if so, how much does it cost to update/upgrade/crossgrade/MAXgrade to the improved T-RackS 5 MAX v.2 audio engine?
  14. I don't have the MBAM realtime protection subscription, but I did scan both the zipped and the unzipped files. MBAM did not report anything earlier to day and again just now. The links that I used were not "usc1.contabostorage.com." In fact, I don't see that anywhere on the page I used for downloading. I can't explain it. That's why I am confused. (Not that you said anything confusing--just that I don't understand how you got to that site. ) EDIT: I just tried one of the links on the YouTube video. I saw a "redirect" notification, but even that wasn't to "usc1.contabostorage.com." MORE MYSTERY: I Googled that and one of the hits was this: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/296413-pythonexe-accused-of-phishing/ . Problem-solving this is beyond my ability (and paygrade). I defer to others who know more about the python.exe phishing thing.
  15. Easy to install the vst and the library. Easy to jam along with the demo video. I estimated about 90+ exposed controllable parameters** in addition to the key switches. **basic parameters (6+bypass), FX parameters (4 parameters each for distortion, delay, chorus; 5 parameters for reverb), and 10 groups (each with 7 parameters: gain, pan, tune, ADSR).
  16. I'm not to wild about the subliminal infernal images (too creepy for me), so I looked to see if that could be changed: Just did a quick 5 minute test hosted in Voltage Modular. It will take more time to test more controls to see what they do and how they interact. Some preliminary observations: The initialized sound comes up immediately on my 2011 PC. (Not sure if I have AVX Instructions.) Many of the controls I tested (switches, knobs, dialogs, menus, etc.) do stuff. I just don't know what. (Need to glance at the manual for more details.) I estimated there are between 2000 and 3000 parameters exposed. There's a synth vst3 and an FX vst3. (I did not test the FX only plug-in yet.) Maybe the manual won't be as useful to me as I thought; I'll have to look at it. So far I just looked at the modules (from upper left, down the first column, second column top section then bottom section, third column (FX, CV parameters, Multi-Purpose envelopes). There seems to be some logic built-into, but those creepy images have been distracting me from trying to understand the flow. Maybe once I swap out those images, I will be able to focus more on what each of the controls does.
  17. Does TS4 MAX have ST4 MAX v.1 or ST4 MAX v.2? I thought ST4 MAX v.2 came out after TS4 MAX, but I didn't go back to investigate. UPDATE: Just checked: Currently, the TS4 MAX page says this:
  18. I don't use take lanes and I don't do lots of takes as full tracks, but in re-reading the thread I wondered if you use folders (which can be collapsed/expanded, nested, etc.) as organizing tools for your workflow and if not, I wonder if they might help until such time that tracks can be reordered by simply renumbering them. For example, perhaps instead of renumbering tracks to change the order you could use the "Move to Folder" right-click context option to create ad hoc working folders and expand the folders as needed . Having said that, I am wondering also if you use Screensets and Workspaces as organizing/workflow tools. I cannot imagine editing 400-500 tracks. Maybe you already use these organizing methods in your workflow or maybe they would take away from your current workflow. I was just thinking, "If I had a huge number of tracks in my projects, needed to be able to cut and paste from different tracks all over the place, and wanted them near each other to minimize having to reorder them, how might I approach the task?"
  19. Just looked it up. I have CakewalkStartScreen.exe in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\StartPage. When I changed the name to CakewalkStartScreen.NOT-exe (1) it doesn't open when I boot CbB and (2) it doesn't open when I do Menu > File > Start Screen.
  20. My son got me a fancy lighted computer keyboard that allows me to set colors based on the program that has the PC's focus. I set Cakewalk to orange and then noticed that the Cakewalk Start Screen doesn't turn the keyboard orange. I just assumed the Start Screen was an independent program or process. The Cakewalk Splash Screen triggers the switch to orange, and then when the Start Screen pops up, the keyboard switches to my default colors. Selecting the Cakewalk Desktop (including closing the Start Screen) switches the keyboard to orange. When I do Menu > File > Start Screen, the keyboard goes to its default color. Ergo, the Start Screen is its own program or process. (I will defer to those who know what goes on under the hood for any possible technical explanation.) I have not tried dragging a project from Windows onto the Start Screen, yet. UPDATE: I am not allowed to drop a *.cwp file onto the Start Screen. I can drop it onto the Cakewalk Desktop. That causes Cakewalk to load the project (as per the toaster message) and somewhere in the process the keyboard lights up orange. BUG FOUND 😉 : If I dock the Start Screen on Mon. 2, and choose a project from it, Menu > File > Start Screen doesn't remember that the Start Screen was on Mon. 2 and defaults to Mon. 1 and covering part of the Cakewalk desktop. That might or might not be related to the "Start Screen Doesn't Close When Drag & Dropping A Project To Open" issue.
  21. I don't need the compressor, but I was mesmerized by the visualization in the video enough that I accepted the generous offer of the freebie loudness meter. I dared to turn the input on just so I could watch the visualization while I listened to music on youtube. It was great. At one point I laughed and realized my usb mic was on and realized the loudness meter's feedback was adding a nice subtle echo delay to everything. (I listen through speakers.) That's probably not how the meter is intended to be used, but I just had to share my initial experience. Thanks, and best wishes to you!
  22. He's so fine - do-lang do-lang do-lang. Nice find!!
  23. This agrees with the location where I found mine: Seagate Backup Plus HDD [External HDD from about 5 years ago] HDDs [Folder where I backed up contents of PC HDDs] AudioPC002 [64-bit Windows PC] 400GB [the original internal HDD aka the C:\ drive] Program Files [64-bit programs] Cakewalk Vstplugins Perfect Space
  24. I remember Perfect Space. In fact, I used it for some experimental textural things way back when. I just check some old folders and I have a Perfect Space folder with a bunch of subfolders: Perfect Space Acoustic Guitar Acousticas Bass Amps cRaZy Digital 300 Guitar Amps Kicks and Snare Plates Real Spaces Springs Synthesized The Great Outdoors You-1 Piano Each seems to have subfolders and tons of IRs as *.wav files. Properties for the Perfect Space folder says: 427 MB, 423 Files, 70 Folder. Like everyone else, I have no need/desire/patience to check all of those out. If anyone wants to create a Perfect Space Device for MConvolutionEZ or MB, I'd be willing to give it a test drive. Hmmmm. Eazy-Peazy to preview in MConvolutionMB (or MConvolutionEZ): Choose Custom Path Navigate to Perfect Space Folder Choose an IR Save it as a Global Preset facilitates return to the Perfect Space custom path Thanks for all the comments that led me to try Perfect Space IRs within MConvolutionMB!
