  1. So true. Most of my dreams are of work. I dream I'm back at the old "salt mines" even though I retired from the place more than 4 years ago (but that wouldn't inspire a song 😉). Thanks! 🙂JB
  2. @David SprouseThanks, Dave. Actually, I learned a lot from Scaler. 😁
  3. Very pretty and well played. Happy holidays to you too! ❤️🙂John B
  4. Mix sounds pretty good here. Can't really think of anything else it might need (except a bit more cowbell) 😁 🙂John B

    Tamiami Trail

This is really neat, Freddy! Gary's right. Couldn't stop my toe from tapping from the beginning to the end of this tune. 🙂John B.
  6. Is somebody trolling my words? (See my comment above) John B
  7. Thanks for listening and commenting, Mr. Miller. I really appreciate it. 😀JB
  8. Thanks Tom. I was beginning to wonder where you got to. Haven't seen you around for a bit. Yeah, I agree the intro is a bit long. So is the outro. It seems to be a song that doesn't want to start, and then doesn't want to finish. I keep re-making the outro. Guess it's an "art thing". I spent 4 hours yesterday expanding the outro with more strings, but then after listening I thought "that's really a bit too long", but at the same time I wanted the last 4 notes of the strings to heard, so I finally settled for a long fade out. I just put that mix up, if you care to revisit it. 😀JB
  9. Thanks Doug! Crosby or Fogelberg. Either are a comparison to be proud of. 😀JB
  10. Thanks Tom. May be but, then again, may not be the last one for a while. I just sometimes feel as if I need a break from it for a short time. I've felt that way many times but the breaks were always short lived. 😀JB
  11. One of your best, Lynn! I would up the vocal volume a bit at the chorus. It seems to get a bit drowned out there because of the additional instrumentation. Ending is very effective. Your voice is exceptionally good here. It has kind of a soul edge to it. It kind of reminds me of Randy Bachman. 🙂John B
  12. Catchy tune. Clever lyrics. Especially love the musical term references. How did you do the horns? 🙂John B
  13. Nice crisp and clear sound. Very Americana sounding. I keep thinking a vocal is going to start any second. 🙂John B
  14. Interesting work, Wook. Some of it seems very open and free but other parts remind me of loneliness and desolation. Probably what you're trying to convey. I could see this accompanying a space or NASA documentary. 🙂John B
  15. @daryl1968Thanks so much! Don't know what happened with the post above where I entered your name link. It froze up and wouldn't let me add any more text. It's not letting me edit it either. I appreciate your feedback. @mark skinnerThank you very much, Sir. David Crosby isn't such a bad musician to be compared to.😀 🙂JB
  16. Enjoyed this very much. Very pretty arrangement. Impressive use of string libraries. Just saw your video. Perfect music for it. So, you're from York County PA? I'm in Reading (Berks). Or have we already established that? I seem to recall discussing the relatively close distance from me with somebody here. Was that you? 🙂John B
  17. Don't worry too much about not fitting "into the mold". I don't know if a mold was ever defined in music creation anyway. If it has been, I certainly don't fit into it. 😉 It's a great song. Love the use of instruments. Well written, produced and recorded. Something you can be proud of, mold or not 😀John B
  18. As I said before, she has a great voice, and you did an equally great job of playing and production. I do agree with the opinion that you should try to make it a little bit more "your own". I hear a little bit of it in your guitar solo work and that sounds great. 😀John B
  19. Newest one. Maybe last for awhile. Don't ask what the lyrics mean. Something vague from deep inside my warped brain, or maybe it was my deep rooted fascination with pomegranates. 😁 https://johnbowen.bandcamp.com/track/those-old-feelings Love & peace ❤️ 🙂John B
  20. This is way cool! I really love the feel that something is "broke" or malfunctioning. The "I don't Know" thing is catchy. Your playing is stellar. Loved the whole production. 🙂John B
  21. It's on hold right now. I asked Grant to try to sing a song of mine called "A Song for the Seasons" and he gave it a whirl, but sang it down an octave from me and it didn't work too well (in his and my estimation) . He did, however, experiment with some of his acoustic guitar and sent me a sample, which sounded quite nice. When we last spoke he was working on refining it. Thanks for asking. 🙂❤️JB

    THROWN AWAY

Love the overall song and your performance. The rhythm seems a bit off in spots. I'm wondering if you could do without it altogether. 🙂John B
  23. You're definitely on the Kinks/Rolling Stones groove. Nice vocal work on both lead and background and the overall production is superb. 🙂John B
  24. I like the melody that seems to be developing on this one. I don't think the beat quite matches what you're trying to do, though. I'd try perhaps a slower more ballad type beat or a slow R & B. But keep doing what you're doing. It's sounding better. 🙂John B
