  1. You brought back some good memories for me from Long ago , hitting the dance club with my friends after a long hectic week. I used to love that voodoo like trance you could get into where there was nothing in the world happening except the music. Enjoyed it .. mark P.S. Some of the best musicians I've ever known , ones with Perfect timing , were also the worst dancers I've ever known..

    Happy Place

Brilliant ! I loved the clean and airy sound of this and the wonderful build up to the ending choruses. The vocals were very polished and top notch. The female backing vox was Perfect. I think you've done a tremendous job on this and I think it would do good on contemporary Christian radio just as it sits now. I Really loved this , Fantastic job .. mark

    The Blues

Here's the last song in my "hold" file to finish up. It's time to turn my pc off and my pa on and start writing . Pretty laid back jazz blues style song . I like working in Maj 7. I'm not really sure about a lot of it though, any suggestions would be great. Thanks .. mark https://soundcloud.com/user-810058643/the-blues
  4. I thought the sax was too good to be true... I really couldn't understand how someone could achieve that using midi. I was just hoping it was possible. I have a sax but it tickles too much to learn it .. Great job mark
  5. That was quite a production! Sounds like you did a massive amount of work on the sax alone. I absolutely loved the drums (what did you use for these) Sounded like a live drummer from someone like Al Dimeola or Jean-Luc Ponty . Very impressed. mark
  6. Very nice Gary , It sounds Much more polished now. The added harmony was a nice boost. I do think a low octave vocal should be used to reinforce and thicken a lead vocal and not stand out so much on its own , unless you're specifically going for an Oak Ridge Boys type of gospel group song. Just my personal preference... I still loved it. mark

    KC Strut

Killer ! That was some Awesome guitar work . You've got a funkier than Steely Dan thing going on. I was wanting to hear a high screaming resolve everything note at the fade and hear more. Fantastic job everywhere. mark
  8. The same thing happened to a friend of mine. He was using 32bit Sonar 7 and 32bit Sonar LE 8.5 and lost SI drums. We couldn't get it resolved. Uninstalled CbB, reinstalled the Sonar versions then reinstalled CbB. Everything is fine now . Never got to the root of the problem.
  9. All I use is Windows 7 64 and have no intention of going to win 10 until I absolutely have to. Never had a problem with OS or with updates. mark
  10. Pretty smooth Gary. I'm not going to "rip it to bits" but I am having a little problem with the far left guitar. There are a couple of rough sliding squeaks around the 40 sec mark that could be tamed. They may also show up downstream but not as noticeable. The guitar also seems to be a little forward in the mix keeping my attention to the left side. I think it may interfere a little when the vocals are brought back in. The acoustic sounds real good but could be brought up some. mark
  11. John, sorry for not responding back. I lost track of this post but Nigel covered it. mark
  12. David , That was Great ! It sounded like it could be put on an old flickering cartoon. I couldn't help but laugh out loud at the ending. That was Very creative. Thanks for the mood boost .. mark

Thanks @Lynn , that was quite a compliment and always my intention when composing. This one just happened to easily work out . @Mesh There was absolutely Nothing special done. All tracks used Sonitus eq and reverb and sent directly to master. Hot spots were tamed using cut and fade. Everything except the cello was direct in. No other effects , even no pro channel. Exported and used basic ozone on it. This isn't the way I normally work , but this was the "different" thing I tried for this one .. moving on , "Thank You" to everyone ... mark

@Mesh The nylon is a Godin LaPatrie Hybrid with a piezo and built in mic , plugged direct in . The neck on this one is Fantastic and not your usual fat wide classical style. Lots of different tones with the eq and mic blender. This was a $175. craigslist find in perfect condition with a thermally protected case. I was lucky to grab this one before it was gone. mark
  15. There is a good Brush Kit in Cakewalk TTS drums section. (channel 10) 2 brush taps and a slap would be good for the train sound.

Thank You all for listening and responding to this post . I did a mild remix and tried to smooth out the fade better. I didn't have much material to work with at the ending , so I started the fade earlier. My final mix faded slowly and smoothly to silence , but sounds like Sound Cloud boosted and cut it short , but it still sounds better to me. Thanks for the advice.. mark
  17. You don't have an external or thumb drive plugged in that's showing up as E do you ...
  18. Bill , Very cool. I loved the guitar work and tone , I was wanting to hear more of it. Were you using a mod filter ? Enjoyed it and hope to hear more from you.. mark
  19. I just broke down and cried watching "Yo Yo" my 14 yr. old red nose pit trying to make his way back inside. Another visit to the vet Friday. I think the hardest part for me has been when to do the right thing . I know it's coming soon .. This post has really helped me to prepare for this and I definitely feel for you and know what your feeling. thanks for sharing .. mark
  20. Gary . Great song my friend. Your vocal quality always shines thru. I'll be looking forward to hearing a final version. Best of luck to you with the new band I'm sure you will do well despite the added hardships right now. Enjoyed it .. mark (post something in Norwegian sometime)

Here's a pretty laid back instrumental using my neglected cello , nylon guitars and backing with my homemade slide guitar. All crits and suggestions welcomed . Thanks .. mark https://soundcloud.com/user-810058643/angels
  22. Barry , Very well done that gave me a good times feel like some of the old Allman Bros. instrumental sections I used to listen to. Great job , I couldn't replay instrumentals I did last month much less from years back .. mark
  23. I have an easy to see monitor, so I just use a wireless keyboard if I'm recording something that's hard to let go of , like an upright or cello.
  24. I loved the bottom end and bass in this one and the very tasty use of Wah. Incredible guitar work and tones. Crying shame you lost the project , but you couldn't tell it from this mix.. mark
  25. That was excellent and Very relaxing. Sounded good thru cheap earbuds on laptop. mark
