  1. oh hey, I agree with you, im all for enhancements like this. Would be great to have an in-depth, customizable Insert Track template menu to include midi, audio, automation. I was simply giving you a work around which I thought might be helpful. And you have to admit, its a lot easier that loading up a project and deleting all kinds of tracks just to salvage a few templates. Where is this Audio being recalled from ? Midi I can understand as it is digital # recall. Audio however is not. That file needs to be found and placed. Which can lead to corruption 50% of the time. I believe now as it is, Midi track templates will hold midi track data in them, have you tried it ?
  2. I was just mentioning this yesterday. A way to use Markers for "Marker jumping". Love the idea, would be a great songwriting tool.
  3. But if you didn't want to use Ripple edit to cut up a project, but only want to hear what it would sound like...This is a feature I ask for long ago called "Marker jumping" I still think it would be great to be able to set up markers and organize them, This would be a great songwriting tool.
  4. that's a different ball game for sure. However it is easily accomplished by opening both projects and Copy/pasting from one project to the other.
  5. I agree with Jim (as I usually do). See im one of those people who believe hard work is needed in order to learn things such as digital audio software. but I also sympathize with the new user.. because not so long ago (20 years ago) I was one. I remember reading that manual for Pro audio 9 for hours just trying to make sense of it. I could have only wished for an easier way. I also believe the music business, especially guitar music in general is not as popular as it once was. If we could find a way to pull in new users (not just to Cakewalk) but the music business in general, we should all help as much as possible. New users want an easy way. Not that im a big fan of that because I still believe in putting in your time, earning your stripes. But if we want to see new users, there has to be an easier way than spending years trying to figure out how to record a track. Lets face it people, we are musicians for a reason. we are lead down this path because something in our minds is much different from other humans. we don't think the same way. We sometimes have difficulty reading books, but we can memorize all the scales forward and back. This is us people. We don't learn like other humans. in some ways we are much smarter, in others we are far behind. Story of our lives. If there's ever any question ask yourself this... When you've been working on a new song and your wife is telling you what to pick up at the grocery store... Are you really listening to her...or are you planning out the bridge in head and simply nodding "yes" to what ever she says ?
  6. Yes, I would keep in the habit of using "Bounce to clips" frequent and often. It helps tidy up clip fragments and prevents things such as "double notes", selection issues (like your having now). I use Bounce to clips every few minutes when doing heavy editing, only because I don't want to forget it and also I like working in full clips (as long as slip edit data is not needed). This is also helpful when the midi clip is completely finished, I then drag that whole midi clip from a completed track to my browser (in a folder) for back up purposes. Because if a project becomes corrupt (which doesn't happen often) your screwed. Midi is embedded within the CWP file itself and non retrievable. Unlike audio clips which can be retrieved from the project folder.
  7. Are you using the PRV to select these notes ? Because its impossible to select individual notes trying to edit the clip itself. you can drag select to highlight only the portion of the clip you need. Then use CNTLR+V.
  8. I was going to suggest unchecking "Load balancing" in preferences as a start but if your cores look good across the board, I guess there's no need to.

    Completely lost..

Possibly you can explain what it is your trying to do. Record a keyboard ? record a guitar ? We can walk you through step by step and then you can work on polishing that on your own till you feel comfortable moving on to something else. as Jim said, its a steep learning curve but once you do a few intermediate tasks, you can build on those making more advanced skills.
  10. Juno, what do your cores look like across the board (performance module)? Are they even, are they maxing out ?
  11. I made a video years ago using an SR-16 to trigger drum synths (session drummer 3). I used an SR-16 for years back in the early 90's for doing rough demos at home. For the time they were great, i do however believe now, there is much better available in multi sample drum sounds. The velocity changes on the Alesis wasn't very good. It sounded more like a drum being hit at full power with the volume turned down.
  12. I like this idea. If it isn't implemented in future releases, you might be able to use the plug in manager to create your own custom menu.
  13. you don't need to use the PRV, only need to drag the midi file from EZ drummer to the EZ drummer midi track within Cakewalk. Once you freeze the data to audio, its final. If hi hat is too loud, snare too low, exc... you'll have to unfreeze, delete the Audio track and start over in a vicious circle. Using the midi track you can move volume sliders, add reverb to separate tracks, exc easily.
  14. Console view uses the most resources as far as graphics are concerned. Thus sucking up resources, however.. not many resources. It just happens to have the most graphics and moving parts. Check your video card drivers weather it be onboard or video card. That would have been my guess as well. Clearing what is in memory.
  15. It might help if you define "there" ? Are you referring to The start screen ?
  16. I haven't used Step recording in years but is it possible it follows global snap value ? Or possibly overriding PRV snap value.
  17. I didn't even realize that. I probably should have looked at previous threads in this UI themes section before posting mine. feel free to post links to your theme in this thread if you wish. Maybe I'll grab it and try it. I hardly ever venture over to this UI theme section (because I've been using the same theme for over a year now). But I am impressed by some of the work others have contributed. Including your stuff @scook
  18. Personally I like the Tungsten theme, I just don't care for the dark PRV. This is the Tungsten theme with a White PRV. No other mods. I've been using this for over a year now and love it. Enjoy. White PRV.sth
  19. While I rarely/if ever venture over to this UI forum without supervision, I must say im glad I did. this is a gem @Colin Nicholls. A lot of depth. thanks.
  20. I found it in the same location as @User 905133 did. The problem is, its not just the SFZ file but the 25 separate .FLAC files that are needed to along with the SFZ file. So you need not just one file, but a slew of them. I would start by reinstalling Dim pro and then looking in the above directory that @User 905133 was kind enough to post.
  21. Threads of same topic Merged. Thread can be moved to Feedback loop upon request.
  22. @mark skinner and @bitflipper bring up good ideas about using Automation and its a great idea but only to a point (only my opinion). I tend to stay away from automation during mastering except for silences/cue and fade outs. Because in the mastering stages, signal boost or drop sounds too "defined", everything is under a microscope and the sound is being polished. This is typically because of the amount of compression, limiting going on. If not careful, it allows the listener to hear something and interpret it as a mistake, fatigue or even irrigating, vs. the seasoned ear engineer who listens and hears a decrease/increase in compression.
