When You're Tired Of Running - an experiment in 7/8 time
Douglas Kirby replied to Lynn Wilson's topic in Songs
I think this 7/8 time signature song works quite well - you did a good job on this. I think I've told you before your vocal reminds me a bit of Peter Gabriel. I like the mix and song - well done. -
A very pleasant and relaxing listen - I agree with Wookie in that it needs some sort change/variety - perhaps a bridge.
-
Very cool Starise - I enjoyed that very much. I felt I should have a whisky and cigar while listening to this one. Quite smooth - nicely done.
-
Hi Lynn - thank you for the kind comments.
-
Hey Starise - thanks for giving my song a listen.

I enjoyed the song Daryl - your music has a unique quality to it - you have your own style. I liked the sections where you did the radio tone vocal parts - that worked well. Overall I liked the mix - cheers.

Definitely a catchy tune you have here. I enjoyed listening to your vocal on this one - you have a unique voice. I liked the lyrics as well. I thought the mix was quite good - well done.

Night Storm on Sea (now with changes and video linkl)
Douglas Kirby replied to freddy j's topic in Songs
Yes, nice job Freddy - you nailed the surf rock vibe on this one. I agree with comments above on the kick - I couldn't really hear it. Regarding the delay - I think that's to taste - I thought it sounded fine. -
Hi Bjorn - yeah, I don't know where this song came from - perhaps you're right calling it 60's pop. I've never written a duet before, so it was unusual for me. Thanks for listening.

Thanks for listening Allan. Perhaps the drums are a bit hot - but I kind of like that sound in my mixes.
-
Hey Nigel - thanks for listening and for your comments.
-
Hey Wookiee - Thanks for listening. I think I agree with you on the end being a bit too long. On the remix I may cut out 8 bars at the end to tidy it up some.
-
Hey Tom - I agree with you about the low mids after giving it another listen. I'm going to do another remix - perhaps today. I appreciate your ears - thanks.
-
Thanks Sabby - I'm glad you liked it and thanks for listening.

Cool composition - I enjoyed the listen. Like others mentioned above, there's some really cool guitar tones in this.
-
I liked the song Gary - I would have added vocal harmonies on the "Help Me Lords" and "Thank You Lords" if it were my song - just my two cents. Impressive lyrics - nice job there.
-
That's a cool song and video Nigel - I agree with Pcode - that side stick works well. The lead vocal was quite good - she has a smooth voice. It sounds radio-ready - well done.
-
This is a cool song and I thought the mix was quite interesting - I really liked the sound of your vocal - the verb you used was just right. The mix is subtle and it works quite well for the relaxed vibe of the song.. Nice job on the lyrics as well. I enjoyed the listen - well done.
-
I liked that lead synth - that was an interesting tone. Overall the composition made me think of suspense - perhaps after a bit of drama. I liked the mix - well done.

Hi Everybody, This is a track off of my album "The Westerly Sessions Vol. I". This song is a bit different from my usual fare - it's really a duet, but I don't know any female singers, so I sang the female part on the harmony. As always, any comment or critiques are welcome, and thanks for listening. Here it is: https://www.soundclick.com/music/songInfo.cfm?songID=14058132

I enjoyed listening to this tune and the guitar playing was excellent - well done.

I really liked the melody of the main synth on this one - it's a pleasant listen and I was humming along with it. I agree with noynekker about the strumming guitar - I liked that as well. More good work from you.

Nice job Allan - that's another good one from you. I like your mixes overall - no crits there.
