It is one of the reasons that I transferred from the engineering program to Biology/Ecology program. Fortunately (for me) computers came along to rescue me from any more slide rulers. I had about a semester before calculators took hold - And at $350 for something you could now get for free on a phone, it would be another semester before I could afford one.
