Starship Krupa
If we're going to include movies that used existing songs, I'll go with Donnie Darko: Some of the most brilliant combinations of songs and filmmaking. Most honorable mention for Coppola's use of The Doors' "The End" in Apocalypse Now.
Gswitz
I didn't see anyone mention Apocalypse Now.

Ben Chilwell
After a while of pondering and thinking, the unique song that I love the most is the song My Heart We Go On from the movie Tinanic.

msmcleod
This is an oldie, but still an excellent soundtrack (and film). Soundtrack by Maurice Jarre (Jean-Michel Jarre's father):

Rain
Not a movie but I was a die hard fan of this Japanese anime called UFO Robot Grendizer when I was a kid. The background music (as well as the sound effects) had a tremendous influence on me. Shunsuke Kikuchi's music is often reminiscent of Morricone (an all-time favorite) and is immediately recognizable. He's also responsible for Female Prisoner 701: Scorpion and a few old Gamera movies among others.

I like Joe Hisashi's work on the Studio Ghibli/Miyazaki movies, although he used to have an unfortunate reliance on the General MIDI soundset. One of my favorite pieces of music, period, is "Rei's Theme 1" from Neon Genesis: Evangelion.
