About Me

  1. The piano roll no longer highlights the keys I press on an external MIDI controller... but it should, right? 😂It has always done this...or am I going crazy!?
  2. I'm a new user of Cakewalk by Bandlab I have a MIDI keyboard (C. Aemon LP-6108A) connected to my PC with a MIDI-USB cable (only MIDI in is plugged in, if that changes something), and it works fine. However, when I'm recording using the keyboard, recorded notes' sustain lasts until I stop recording. I have no other MIDI keyboard or DAW, so I can't test if it's fault of my keyboard or Cakewalk. However, when I'm recording on my PC's keyboard, everything works fine. I think it's good to mention that I don't have a sustain pedal. I've been searching throught entire internet for the answer to my question, however found nothing that helped me I would be very grateful for any help, I also put the screenshot of how recorded notes look like
  3. Hi! I'm new to Cakewalk and not an English speaker. I have issues with Xpand!2 and Ripchord. Cakewalk recognizes them, but when a press a key in the midi controller, there's no sound. What happens? Can anybody help me, please? I'd really like to use those plugins. Maria
  4. Hello, I'm looking to purchase a new midi keyboard/Controller (61 or 73 keys). Any suggestions? Most recent ones don't seem to support CbB out of the box... I would like to buy something with at least transports buttons. Thanks
  5. Good morning all, Hope you're well! I've currently got a lot of long midi clips that i'd like to reduce to smaller lengths so that I can organise them better into a library. Is there any ability to automate this process within Cakewalk or does anyone know of other VST's/software that will achieve this goal? The ideal method i'm looking for is to present the source file and then simple the size of the output in terms of bars. Bonus points if I can do this as a batch activity over a number files! I've looked into a few things so far, but haven't found an effective solution. Best wishes, Matthew
  6. Hi! I'm recording a midi with my drumkit and I can't map a specific note. Cakewalk is registering it as B1 but adding that to my drum map is not doing anything What could i be missing? I'm using the Out Note Bb3 (46) that's also being used as output somewhere else because that's exactly what i want (both notes producing the same sound), could that be related somehow? I'm kinda amateur with these applications so maybe i'm missing something simple Thanks!
  7. Hi The Problem: I have a Mackie Control Universal, the old grey one. It seems to have developed a problem in that it sends intermittent, uncommanded midi signals which cause the virtual master fader in cakewalk to move rapidly up and down about a decibel in volume. It seemingly happens randomly, several times a minute, sometimes once a minute or less, lasting a few seconds at a time. I have used Midi-Ox to record the output signals - see the attached pic. My Mackie has the upgraded cpu chip (v3.0.0 up from v2.1.2) and two PWM chips, upgraded to v3.50. Things I've Tried: Tried 2 different Midi interfaces - a Focusrite 4i4 and a Miditech 4x4. I have taken the Mackie all apart and undone and redone all the connectors. I have swapped all the chips with the other upgraded ones from my mackie extender. I've also tried putting the old chips back in (v2.1.2). I've tried pressing every button and turned every knob and moved ever fader to see if something was sticking. I disabled the physical Master Fader on the Mackie by pulling its connector off and ran Cakewalk to see if that would stop the problem. It didn't, the virtual Master Fader still recieved a midi signal from the Mackie and randomly shook the fader up and down. Checked the Mackie is in MCU mode. Checked the controllers setup in cakewalk - Mackie first, Extender 2nd amd C4 third. Ran Cakewalk with just the Mackie and no extender or C4 controller. The whole setup seems ruined now. It was working fine before the weekend. As it only affects the virtual Master Fader (or the Bus Fader - depending upon what I have the physical fader set too in the Mackie options), is there a way of disabling the Mackies input to cakewalk's Master Fader? I don't really use it so I wouldn't miss it. I know I can select in Cakewalks Mackie options which fader to assign to the physical Master fader - either 1.Master Fader or 2.Bus Fader. I would like to be able to disable it completley. Any help would be really appreciated. I've spent all weekend on this. And as I said, my whole Cakewalk/Mackie setup is ruined by this. Regards, Chris
  8. Suddenly recording of music became terrible. When i hold key more than 1 second appears sound of other note. Sometimes it changes after half second, sometimes after 10. Also can hear other notes during playing records. This `plugin` is on every instrument.
  9. Hi all. Apparently when one has a midi track in a project that is not used it's output is set to the standard midi out port as defined in preferences midi devices. And even if there is no midi out channel selected on the track channel dropdown menu the midi information is sent anyway. Is this normal behaviour for cakewalk? Or is it due to my setup? I use midi primarily to send control data via loopMIDI (http://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/loopmidi.html) to VCV rack and secondarily to manipulate soft synths and plugins in cakewalk. As I just spent the better part of the morning thusfar to figure out that my project was going bonkers because of a midi track that wasn't supposed to send any data (the input echo is off, there's no output channel selected but the output is (automatically) set), I'm well, a tad annoyed. I'm also slightly mystified as to why the midi input can be set to none, but not the midi output. This can be done with audio tracks, why not midi tracks? By the way, I've noticed that midi inputs get changed when closing a project and reopening it; inputs that were set to none suddenly are set to all inputs, sometimes even to two inputs simultaneously. Just thought I'd mention it. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated. Thnx in advance. Enjoy

  11. Hi and Thanks in advance. I have loaded a previous session which only has a drum track and a Guitar track which i have not recorded anything yet but i get the vu meters to work fine but cant play the midi track . I have uninstalled and reinstalled but still not working. Please help.
  12. I have looked through all the threads. I plug my sustain pedal into my controllers. I have a M-Audio Keystation 61 and an Novation Impulse 49. The pedal is inverted on both of them with every VST. I tried everything like making sure I had no shortcuts assigned...etc. I am using Windows 10 with a Focusrite Scarlett 4i4. It seems that even on certain VSTs like Omnisphere that I can learn a MIDI command I cannot get it to do anything but be on when off and turn off when stepped on. If I try lo learn it inverted in Omnisphere it just keeps it on all the time and won't shut it off. Any clues>
  13. Hi there, I'm wondering how I can edit multiple midi clips at the same time. Say I have a 4 bar MIDI clip and copy it multiple times, I want when I edit something such as a note in the original clip for it to copy these edits in the subsequent clips. Is such a thing possible in Cakewalk? Cheers
  14. The Track Manager has a smaller footprint, so that makes it easier to see MIDI channel information together in one area.
  15. I've downloaded adsr plugin so I can mange my samples slightly better. I was having a blast adding samples but then when I tried to drag and drop the sample on to track this window popped up. After pressing 'Yes', nothing happened, does anybody know how to fix this?
  16. It would be nice if that were listed in the Console view...
  17. There seems to be a bug with the MIDI program change message in Bandlab. I have a MIDI .cwp file that works correctly with my old copy of SONAR 7 but it doesn't work with Bandlab. Both use the same default general midi .ins file. I checked the MIDI being sent to my external synth using MIDI-OX. Bandlab sends an extra PC message, C0 00. This causes the program change to be overridden and always changed to the first patch. SONAR sends the message correctly.
  18. I want to suggest console addons. My dream is:
  19. ho istallato Cakewalk by Bandlab ma non riesco a registrare MIDI dalla mia tastiera Yamaha S950!!! In formato audio è ok! Grazie Alessandro Rossetti alexross1948@gmail.com
  20. Hi, I'm searching for a low cost midi keyboard with controls like faders, knobs, pads and transport controls which will work flawlessly with CbB. I have been trying to find something on the used marked, but the ones I have found until know doesn't seem to work very well with CbB. For example I found the Nektar Impact LX25+ which has all I need, but then I find a forum thread which makes me think that this is not the one: Problem integrating Nektar Lx25+ with cakewalk - Cakewalk by BandLab - Cakewalk Discuss | The Official Cakewalk by BandLab Forum I have an old Technics px201 digital piano, that I want to use in the setup, so I don't need a full size midi keyboard. Which midi keyboard with all the controls can I expect to work without too much of a hassle? Thanks in advance. /Stig

  22. I have a particular use case and I'll do my best to explain it. I'm working on synthestration and my track structure looks as such: a Track folder with a bunch of instrument tracks in it Track folders labeled with a "version" of the score I'm working on. within these version folders are MIDI tracks that correspond to the available instrument tracks in the "instruments" folder. I make big changes to the score periodically and I essentially just duplicate the "version folder" which contains the midi tracks and continue from there. Yes, I could keep these version iterations in their own project files, but I like to have quick access to the previous versions. Loading in a ton of sample libraries in/out just to hear previous version, is not ideal. Also, I like being able to compare notes and harmonic structures, all in the same project. And midi data is small. This shouldn't be a big deal at all. The Challenge I'm constantly soloing out different groups of midi tracks in order to hear how they're playing with each other. When I solo a midi track(s), it works exactly as you'd expect. But when I unsolo the midi tracks, I get no sound, because the source Instrument track remains solo'd, but there are no corresponding midi tracks to feed the instrument track. I have to go to the console bar and click the solo button to un-solo everything and now I'm back to normal. This is unideal. What I'd like is that if you solo a midi track or group of midi tracks that feed an instrument track, upon un-soloing the last midi track that feeds the instrument track, both the last midi track AND the instrument are no longer solo'd. This would have a much more pleasant work flow. Here is a clip to show the issue directly: clip.MP4
  23. I cannot get any recording out of my Roland TD 20 from MIDI output into Cakewalk. Cakewalk does not detect a MIDI signal. Using USB MIDI cable in Win10. ("USB Midi" detected, all on Omni). I know MIDI does not have its own sound; this is about no input into cakewalk (detection by). Keyboard works perfectly but not getting same with TD20 MIDI. Novice recorder here. Thank you for any help!
  24. First off I'm not entirely sure if mapping is the right term for this, but the problems seems very simple to fix and I'm just missing the solution. I have an Alesis Nitro drum module and want to record a cover using MIDI. Most of my kit is fine and able to record, the only issue is my kick drum pad is mapped to the floor tom (so when I trigger the kick the resulting sound is the floor tom) and i cannot figure out how to get it to play the kick part and leave the rest the same. If anyone knows how to make my kick drum work as a kick drum that would be amazing!!
  25. Hi, Everyone! So, here's whats happening. I had marked the thread linked below, as SOLVED. It is not solved, I thought it was until I started trying to record, some more. I have new info of what is happening, but can't seem to resolve. I'm simply trying to record midi tracks, in real time. 1) I have one midi track: say, its addictive keys. (also occurs with TTS) 2) arturia keylab essentials keyboard plugged in via usb: its inputting notes, but, 3) the click's accented beat is playing 2 or 3 beats after the visual beat one Where the NOW marker is, is when I hear the beat one of the Metronome 4) I thought I had solved this by clicking on INTERNAL SYNC When I do that, and immediately record, it all works together as it should: what I see on screen and what I hear falls on the beats correctly. As soon as I STOP recording, the INTERNAL SYNC automatically changes to AUDIO SYNC. 5) I also tested this scenario by creating a auxillary track and recording the metronome there. The same results occur. I see beat one go by on the timeline, but don't hear it until 2 beats later. Weird. 6) I also used PREFERENCES to change to INTERNAL SYNC. It also auto-reverts back to AUDIO SYNC. Here's My Equipment: Focusrite 18i20 Arturia Keylab Essentials 49 keyboard Windows 10 Prof, running latest updates thru December (January's will probably fall this week) Any thoughts or suggestions? Maybe its a CW bug, maybe I should re-install CbB? Bleh... I sure don't wanna do that, unless last resort.
