A most cool funky jazz sound. You captured a laid back feel traveling from Sears to Montgomery Wards for sure! Very nice indeed!

  6. Well you know what the infamous "THEY" say -- ***** sells. You have produced a cool funky-ish (is that a word?)Blues song. I did indeed enjoy it!!

    Half moon

Very nicely done Makke. Your guitar work is excellent and you have a nice light touch in your playing. Oh ya, just the right amount of 'verb! I always take pleasure in listening to your posts. Nice one!!!
  8. This song got a tremendous amount of air play and you do a wonderful job in this cover. I agree with Anders Madsen above, the BGV's on the side are rather good. The vocals are excellent and ya, the bass player did an excellent job in carrying the song along. Excellent work!!!
  9. Hi Paul : Sorry for the delay in responding but I had a few of life's demands to take care of. Wow, thanks very much for the very kind words!! This is very much appreciated as you are certainly one that puts some great emotions, thoughts and melodies into your work. Thanks again! Hi ant_in_Wales. Thanks very much for listening and your comments. My mum used the term woozy but I didn't remember the meaning and had to look it up. Now that I know the definition, I can't disagree with you. I have really been captured by the recent spat of AfroBeat music that has been coming out in Europe, the UK, and particularly in some of the South American countries. Each has their own signature but tend to follow Fela Kuti (the "Godfather of AfroBeat)adding their own prescription of funk, Latin sounds, jazz and traditional African music. I have a number of bands/orchestras that I really like but I have been using Newen AfroBeat (from Chile) as a template in learning this music. Unfortunately, for me, they use a lot of instrumentation, percussion, etc. Also - unfortunately, I still struggle with MID/sampling/etc. instrumentation. What all of this means is that I am still trying to improve in this style of music (tempo and tempo changes, mix, instrumentation, panning, volume, EQ, etc., etc.). Therefore, I very much appreciate your suggestions and will continue on my path to improving in this style of music. Thanks again!
  10. Hi Jack. Message received and it will brought out front more. Thanks for the input. Hi Nigel. I think that we are starting to build a consensus here. Good observations and I will be making changes. Thanks much for taking time to listen and for the input. Hey Steve. Thanks for listening and for the insight. I have redone the bass with a few changes and brought it forward a bit more. Hi David, I am glad that you liked it! Thanks for the kind comments but I think I'll give Nashville a miss. I wouldn't want to embarrass myself 😉. Hey Wookiee. Thanks for the input! I believe that we have reached a consensus and I am in complete agreement! I have redone the bass and brought it forward (a bit). In addition I have adjusted the drums (traps and congas) and pulled them back a bit. Hopefully, now there won't be as much conflict between the two. I have also brought forward (a bit) my homemade mbira (AKA - kalimba) in hopes that it might sync with the bass. I have also panned a few of the instruments differently. Hopefully, this will be a bit better. Thanks very much again. Hi Mark. Good comments and insight. I did adjust the guitar panned L. Hopefully, this helped. Thanks very much! I appreciate the help! Hey Douglas. Yes it is a bit different for me. I am really "hip" to afrobeat right now. Especially groups such a Newen Afrobeat and Kokoroko. However, it is going to take a lot of listening on my part to approach what they are doing. Thanks very much for listening and commenting! Hi tom. Many thanks for the comments! I guess I just might have been born too late (hmmm -nice title for a traditional rockabilly song). Thanks again!! Hi Bjorn. Thanks for listening and your kind comments. I agree that it was too messy. I do better with about half a dozen tracks but this one had much more than that. It gets this old man too confused. Hopefully, the changes made above have improved it a wee bit. Any additional comments on the mix would be greatly appreciated!
  11. Your song lyrics are always packed with emotion and the melody on this song really carries the emotions along. The lyrics and melody are also very catchy. It was a treat to listen to this!
  12. This is an outstanding piece of work!! I am talking about both audio and video. The Fx on the vocal give a real dreamy effect to the lyrics and song! My son is an animator for Sony (a rigger) and he tries to explain to me how things are done. It mystifies me. I am also transfixed as to the quality of your videos and how they blend with the music and lyrics. Absoflippinlutely, great production and performances!!!
  13. Hi Steve. I am very glad that you liked it. Thanks very much for listening and commenting!! Hi Lynn. Thanks very much for the good words and encouragement. I got the message about the bass and drums and will give it a look-over once I make corrections to the "Stop The World" song. So much to do and so little time 😉. Thanks again pal!! Hey Nigel. You are too kind my friend. I am glad that you liked it and thank you for the good words!!
  14. A fun song indeed and a great story. It kept me listening for all 5:20! Clever work and well done!!
  15. A very good cover with some excellent work! Your vocals are right on target!
  16. Thanks Will and Henkejs. I did try different ports. I also pulled out one of my other working files (Cakewalk Bundle) and tried it out. To my surprise it worked with the controller. I tried a couple of others and they too worked. So, l tried the file with the problem and it still did not work. That result was beyond my comprehension. Being frustrated, I exported the tracks that I had completed and opened up a new project in Cakewalk and imported those tracks. That worked and I was able to use the keyboard controller. The only thing that I can figure out is that perhaps the drive designation may have changed (how??) during one of our occasional, brief power outages. I use a couple of external drives for saving working files. Thanks very much for responding. I appreciate your help!!!
  17. Here is a song about a frustrated guy in a broken relationship and he has had enough. I started this song as a Blues song (Jimmy Reed style) but somehow it morphed into more of a funky rocker and then it made a sharp turn and further changed to more of a South American Afrobeat style. I guess the point I am trying to make is that it took on a lot of different personalities as I was trying to put it together. I only hope that it is not too messy. As always your input, comments, suggestions, crit's, etc. will be much appreciated. Thanks! STOP THE WORLD https://www.soundclick.com/artist/default.cfm?bandid=963481
  18. HI Will, Thanks for the reply. I did not receive this error message in the popup window that you mentioned. I have also plugged and unplugged, rebooted, and contacted Alesis (no reply yet). I also pulled out my old AKAI LPK25 and tried it . That attempt produced the same result. I think that these efforts might confirm your suggestion. Either it is a problem with Cakewalk or Microsoft or perhaps and argument between the two. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks again.
  19. Thank you Bjorn. I tend to reach back to that era for inspiration (perhaps too often). I find the simplicity refreshing! I often wonder how studio gurus like Tom Dowd produced the work that he did without the sophistication of today's studios. Many thanks again my friend!

Wonderful!!! I love the way that the bass just pushes this song along and the guitar playing is excellent. The whole thing is put together as close to perfection as one can get. To borrow from 1940's this song is "in the groove, Jackson". This might sound a bit weird but the guitar work (particularly panned right - toward the end) has a slight afrobeat flavour to it (al la Newen Afrobeat). Excellent work y'all!!
  21. Welcome back! I was wondering what happened to you and you have returned with one hot number that defines cool (am I mixing metaphors?)! This is one of your best pal! The idea of matching the toxin from a South American vine to a romantic breakup is definitely on the creative side!! Your performance is excellent. That is some doggone nice guitar work as are your vocals. To these old ears the mix sounded great and I enjoyed the panning. Listening to this was a real treat!!

    ALWAYS T2

Excellent lyrics (passion, compassion, introspective, etc.) and the feeling in your vocal most definitely delivered the message. The musical arrangement, performance, and mix all sounded excellent. This is an impressive piece of work!
  23. I have been using the Alesis Q25 keyboard controller for several years with Cakewalk and Cakewalk by BandLab. I went to use it today using soft synth (as usual) and got the error message below. It appears in Preferences and all of the inputs and outputs seem to be connected as they usually have been. However, as soon as I pressed any of the keys I got the error message. What might cause such aberrant behaviour to suddenly start? Any not too technical suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
  24. Hi David. Thank you very much for the kind comments - very much appreciated!! I am guilty of trying to play all the instruments. The exception is the drums. I used some WAV clips from Beta Monkey for this song! BTW, I really enjoyed your recent post!! Nice work.
