  1. Very nostalgic song and video, Bjorn. I'm not surprised that you have a treasure trove of pictures. I was wondering if you are going to write a song about your recent adventure so you can share your pictures with us. Congratulations on another fine song!
  2. I think people forget about the slide function, which can move markers and other data in either direction by whatever time source you choose. Sometimes it's more useful than ripple editing in certain situations. As for MIDI loops, I know nothing, but try the slide function, just in case.
  3. I don't remember this song, but I like it very much. I like your picture, too. Did you record your guitar through the condenser mic? I ask because you always get the best guitar sounds. All in all, very classic!
  4. Very impressive, Wookie. The samples sound quite good, and you wrote a compelling piece of music. I applaud you for constantly trying new things and keeping it fresh. I don't know if Notion is for me, but I used to read and write music on a staff. Thanks to you, I feel that I at least have to explore Notion and Finale, now.

    Lone Wolf

This is like comfort food, it fills the soul. Your recording has what everyone is looking for: warmth, clarity, and feel. What a collection of songs you've amassed!
  6. Great, you put a video to one of my favorite songs! I've listened to this quite a bit, and plan to continue.
  7. Ripple editing has been a godsend to me, but until they added the visible on/off button recently, it was confusing if you forgot that it was on while doing edits. I've found that it moves everything except automation envelopes, at least, I haven't figured that out, yet. It can be configured. It has saved me much time by filling in large holes without cutting and pasting. Overall, my editing techniques may be simpler than some, but this was one of the better additions for my needs.
  8. I'm sorry that I didn't see your specs before. I'm still getting used to this forum. I have nothing else to offer, so best of luck. It's usually something small and easily overlooked with me
  9. Wow, that was fun! I don't hear anything wrong with this, in fact, I love the harmonies and arrangement. Very well done.

    Lift Me Up

I listened to this twice because it put me in a good mood this morning. Overall, the performances and mix are pleasant to hear, and I have no crits. Well done!
  11. It would help if you posted your specs. Otherwise, I would make sure I had the latest update for my sound card and my cables are OK. Are you running anything through a device with batteries? It's probably not a Windows problem, but...more info, please.
  12. Tom, this is a terrific song, and it shows another side to your multi-faceted talent. I'm going to listen to this from time to time just to clear my head. Always inspirational...
  13. Boy, I'm really late to this party. Too bad because this is one of the best songs I've heard in a while. I caught to Peter G vibe, too, but mainly because your voice is dripping in pathos like his. This is a supreme song that deserves recognition. I'd love for this song to go viral. More please.

    THE LONDON WAY

I really like this song and video! However, I didn't notice it so much in the previous post of this song, but in this mix, I lose the lead vocal to the strings from time to time. Since the words are so important to this song, I'd suggest boosting the lead vox a bit, and backing off the strings a little bit. This is especially important when listening at low volume, as I just did. I'm turning it up on the next pass. All in all, very impressive!
  15. John, you often take the road less traveled, and that's exactly why I like this tune. I like nearly always being surprised by you, and I share your taste in music. I've noticed that most people who've been coming to this site and the old one for any length of time just keep getting better. I look forward to your next song!
  16. Thanks for your kind words. I guess the timing issues show that no self-respecting robot would ever do this. However, when I get a few minutes, I'll revisit the whole song and put it under the microscope and see if I can tighten this up. Thanks for your help!
  17. OK, I spent several hours yesterday going over the drum tracks in the PRV. I removed unnecessary hits and lowered the overheads a bit to balance the cymbals and hihat better. I hope everything sits better this time, but I'm glad that I took the time with this as I enjoy listening to it more. Thanks again everyone; I hope some of you get to listen one more time and tell me if I was successful or not. It's here and in the first post: https://www.soundclick.com/html5/v4/player.cfm?songID=13846768
  18. Bob, Daryl, and Wookie, thanks so much for replying to this. From the beginning, the drums have been pointed out to me as being a weak link. I totally agree because I didn't scrutinize the drums carefully, as I was using stock presets that come with SD3. This morning I soloed the drums in the PRV and found much to edit. There was a splash cymbal playing at the same time my hihat was playing that is gone now, and I lowered the overhead channels a tad. I'm also raising the overall volume in relation to everything else. I still have a little work to do, yet, getting everything to sit well in the mix, but I'm getting there thanks to everyone's help.
  19. Thank you, Bjorn. I look forward to seeing the rest of your photos from Uganda. You keep up the good work!
  20. Don't tweak this much more...

    The Mystery

That's two more terrific songs to add to your list. I find this entire genre to be generally relaxing. Keep on learning new instruments, my friend.
  22. Fabulous song and recording! Your wife has a terrific voice, and your arrangement really showcases her voice very well. You make a good ad for Pod Farm, too. Kudos

    The London Way

I happened to listen on my speakers at low volume and was impressed by how full and wide it sounded. Not only is it panned well, but it has front to back depth, too. You have a good voice and a way with words. Kudos!
  24. Thanks to Tom, John, and James for your welcome replies. There seems to be agreement about the drums and panning so let me explain. I'm using Superior Drummer 3, and I used preset beats and wrote the song around them. Other than lower the overhead drum mics, I've done very little processing to the drums as a whole. It may be time to tweak some of the things you are writing about. Plus, I'm writing a pop song on top of funk beats which is a little trick of mine that may or may not be successful. That's why I look for your opinions. And, John, as to the panning, I like wide mixes, but I noticed there's a world of difference between speakers and headphones. This is the first time I used headphones that were calibrated by Sonarworks, so it might take some adjustment for me to get used to them. Anyway, all these comments help a great deal and will be taken into consideration on my next pass. p.s.- Tom, I do send both vocals to the same buss sharing the delay.
