  1. My ear has never gotten used to the sound of male sopranos and consequently, it's nice to hear it parsed out to different instruments. The rhythms of the counterpoint are beautifully interwoven.
  2. Lovely, I've always liked water signs.

Just the right amount of frivolity listening on headphones in a dark room. Your talent runs deep.
  4. The solo lead sounded too perfect to me. Was it quantized?
  5. Antler, thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to listen to my music.
  6. I could feel the electricity in the air Man those storms are so beautiful, except when they cause mayhem like this. Glad you walked away from that one.
  7. Bravo! The guitar was a little too perfect I think, needs some swing and humanization.
  8. Especially liked the counterpoint about midway through. I found wanting more sides versus mids., more room ambience.

I added the pregnant pause, thanks for the tip. (See video)
  10. Antler love the anthropomorphic insects in the background. Reminds me of my grandma's farm.
  11. Thanks jw. I'm wondering whether there shouldn't be a reverb tail after that *ooohhh*.
  12. Jacques Lacan: kaleidoscopic erudition. thanks, glad you could enjoy it. Sweet were the first concert I ever went alone to (without parents) they were touring with Eric Carmen. thanks bjorn. Time to get out the umbrella

Hi Larry! I'm glad you noticed the precise rhythm. What I did was write the entire thing out in Finale and then export xml into cubase. I didn't play any of this in as midi. It's a good way to make sure everything is in the pocket, better than quantizing I think.

Bjorn, I wasn't quite sold on the trumpets carrying the melody, but I was trying for a mariachi sound; The last cadence is very mariachi. Session horns does some things really well...but it doesn't have many articulations. Thanks for listening.

tom, thanks for the inspiring words. Ya, your right about hearing the warts...it's a bad habit. Most people let the notes fly by and enjoy...I'm cursed with finding the faults. I just saw a documentary on wabi-sabi and it's so true, I really do have that aesthetic sensibility: finding beauty in imperfect things. As for the audience...I don't know haha.

Jack I'm beside myself. Thanks for the great review!
  18. The first singer reminded me of Denny Laine a little. Such great voices all around. This is one of the most original and polished songs I've heard here. Did you really use Cakewalk software?
  19. I really love your voice. It sounds vaguely familiar...like I heard it on the radio in the 80's<?> Your song writing is first rate. Reminds me of twp groups: the knack and the romantics.
  20. I listened to *tin foil hat*. What a funny song! You have a gift for comedy. Question is, why a cat? (in the picture). There are no right or wrong answers......
  21. All the parts so pristine. Loved this track.

I follow japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi... so it could use some improvement. it's tough with wind and brass instruments to get really good dynamics, like one can with guitar. It's a real show stopper in that situation. The piano section could use some dynamics for sure. Thanks for listening Steve, I appreciate your ears.

vals video This is a south american guitar piece by Barrios that I arranged for winds and brass. Vals Music
  24. Love the boogie-woogie...first song I ever wrote was called *the boogie man* in 3rd grade. It didn't sound like this haha. Beautifully detailed this was. I hope you're getting lots of gigs with these skills.
