  1. Keith The intro did remind me a bit of Pink Floyd (Dogs of War?) only because you mentioned Roger Waters. Power of suggestion. This is the 2nd song I've heard from you and this comment is pretty much the same. I like the song, especially your vocal styling. Great lyrics. The buildup in the mix works very well too. And I'm sort of scrounging around for anything to critique. Totally subjective opinion but the brass instruments didn't seem to fit. IDK, just stood out to me. I really like your music. Hope you have more to post here.
  2. Dan Thanks. I'm thinking about doing a melody track on top. amiller, Gerson Thank you. Jim Yeah, I never seem to pay much attention to the drum track. IDK I just can't hear if I'm improving things or not when adjusting volumes and such. Appreciate the insight.

mark Thanks, Appreciate the comment. Not sure what pm time means? amiller tom Douglas Thank you.
  4. I took it down. One of those songs that turned into carp overnight.
  5. I wish you the best and hope to see you back here real soon!

Better respond to the comments now. Songs are rapidly descending down the page. Hidden Sym Thanks for the comment. John I listened to Ravi Shankar's daughter playing the sitar on youtube to get some ideas. She is amazing. The voice is from Heavyocity Vocalise, a Kontakt instrument. Gary Indian music isn't exactly in my heritage, but I've always liked it. IMO I did okay with the Kontakt instruments here except I couldn't get the sitar to sound like I wanted. Paul Thanks for the comment. Appreciate it as always.
  7. John Too bad we all need to be reminded to get along with our fellow humans, but that's the way it is I guess. Nice to hear some positive words now and then. The jazzy accompaniment fits the lyrics very well. The "disagree/World War 3" pairing is wonderful. (Well, just one of those lyric things I appreciate.)

I've had the Native Instruments India Discovery Series instruments for a while and decided to play around with it. I came up with this. Thanks for listening. Native Instruments India Discovery Series Bansuri, Sitar, Santur, Tabla, Tanpura also uHe Diva Heavyocity Vocalise
  9. Keith I couldn't get into critique mode because I really got into this song, kept saying wow and nice. Maybe the instruments are dated but I just heard the overall performance, everything blending in so well to magnify the emotional content of the lyrics. So I guess I liked it. I have songs going back to the late 80s that I've tried to "modernize" with more realistic sounding instruments. Doesn't work. They must sound the same.
  10. kloon, "the otherTom" and Doug I do appreciate the listen and the comment. Thanks
  11. Thanks Tom I used uHe Colour Copy delay effect on the piano. You just need to play one note at regular intervals and it fills in some pretty interesting extra notes, which I guess is what delay effects do, but this one's better than others I've used.
  12. Just some noodling around with synths. The title doesn't mean anything, political or otherwise. Well, maybe it does. Omnisphere u-He Diva and Zebra StylusRMX NI Grandeur piano Arturia CS 80
  13. Tom Well I didn't follow all the technical stuff you're doing and I don't know what a 703 is and I can't offer advice on compression but I like the song, so I'll just say that.
  14. Douglas Another great song - I'm just gonna copy and paste those 3 words from now on. 😀 One little nit I have is that guitar fill at 1:00 and 2:08 seems to come in on one channel only. Just stood out to me. The other guitar fill at 1:36 and elsewhere sounds more natural. The slide sounds really good to me.
  15. This is great! I really enjoyed it esp that driving drum beat. Thumbs up!
  16. Nigel Intriguing title which I'm still trying to get my head around. 😀 Gorgeous well done video, something you'd expect from a professional and maybe you are? Well done all around.
  17. That's a beautiful melody you're playing. I didn't expect the metronome, the jet plane, the disco beat, the whistling, or the dubstep bass, but that's okay! Piano sounds fine to me.
  18. Sounds really good on my headphones, Gary. Like you're in the audience and hearing the different sections from where they're placed in the orchestra.
  19. These kindergarten kids are pretty darn good, but the whole thing is just kinda creepy. I wonder about the teaching methods over there.

    High Road

Dan I recognized High Road as something from you since I think you have a signature sound/style to your music. Just sit back, relax, let the music take hold and you won't be disappointed. The mix sounds really good to my ear. Welcome back! Bjorn
  21. Jim Fun song and fun video. The song reminds me of what it's like driving around Klamath Lake in southern Oregon. Splattered bugs all over the front of your car. Can't even read the license plate. Hope your daughter is or becomes an accomplished musician like yourself. One man band for sure.
  22. Freddy Never heard Klonopin in a song before. Those discordant notes work really well considering the subject. Coming up with a blues song about panic attacks/anxiety might be kinda therapeutic actually. I'm thinking of Neil Diamond's Song Sung Blue which can perk you up, if you can tolerate Neil Diamond.
  23. Gary Remarkable how good this sounds, like listening to the classical radio station in town. So I compared versions 2 and 3 and I like version 2 better. Sounds "fuller" to me. Version 3 seems to be missing those lower stringed instruments which come in around :03. (I should mention that my hearing needs to be taken into account here. It ain't what it used to be.)
  24. Everything's very well done esp the vocal. Pretty sinister sounding dude. He's saying all this to his wife? Who is still alive? Wow. I thought at first that your other post about the Scorned Woman was related to this song, like they're both part of the same story, but guess not. Seems to me like you need another song or more to tell the whole story. Nits I wanted the guitar to stand out more at ~3:35 The song is pretty long, though it didn't seem that way the first time through. On the second listen I noticed that the lyrics kept repeating themselves, so I don't know, you could trim a bit there. Just my lonely opinion.
  25. Steve Thanks again for taking the time to comment. Mark Thanks. It's mainly spoken because my singing... well you know. Geeare1 Thanks. I didn't notice the reverb much until mentioned here on the forum. Gonna back off on it when I get around to re-doing the song. Douglas Thanks. Hmmm, psychedelic? I'm definitely backing off on the reverb! David Thanks. My 1st reaction to your comment was...whaaat? But then, yeah I can see your scenario. Open mic night at a coffee shop in the Village. Hipster expounding about a traffic light.
