  1. I've been away from this thread for a while and I think I've lost my place. Where are we and why does everyone post YouTube videos?
  2. That was a quick turnaround! Wow! EDIT: Hotfix installed without issues!
  3. OK, here's a strrrretch... Doctor, Doctor - UFO (See because the previous one was by the Police, which is a profession and so is a doctor).
  4. Recording magazine's current issue (August) has DAW's right on the cover. I instantly wondered if they would include Cakewalk. They didn't, but the list was very sparse generally--so not very comprehensive. I think if a magazine like Recording did a DAW review and listed the main ones, and mentioned that Cakewalk was free, now that would turn some heads.
  5. I'm Going Off the Rails on a Crazy Train -- Ozzy Osborne "...the barbor shaves another customer..." Penny Lane, the Beatles.
  6. OK, I see. Maybe they are trying to future-proof it for when/if their units start shipping with TB3 ports. I see that UA is selling a TB3 upgrade kit for their Apollo rack mounts--so my guess is they know it coming and they're getting ready. Maybe?
  7. Yeah, you're right. Me too. I said I use compressors and limiters, but I do use the gain feature as well--even have it on my menu bar I reach for it so often. Typically, if I want to change an audio track that is either way to low or high, or more often than not, I just select a word or phrase from a vocal take and apply a boost or cut on that section. That's probably the real big reason I don't use normalization.
  8. I see that the 4i4 has a USB-C port, but that is showing as a USB port--not the TB port. I'm not sure I understand what you mean it supports the native TB driver?
  9. This is a very useful comparison--thank you so much for sharing this.
  10. Hmm. Thanks for the response. Not sure it's helpful though. 😞
  11. Hey Group!! I'm studying out a bunch of the music sales and streaming sites, CD Baby, Tunecore, Reverbnation, Ditto Music, and DistroKid and am leaning heavily towards Reverbnation with their Premiere plan. Does anyone have any experience here, and are willing to share what made you go with one company over another? Thanks in advance, Stephen
  12. Yeah, I just upgraded my laptop at work and I'm connected to my port replicator via a Thunderbolt 3 (USB C-type) connection. I did a bit of research because I'm a geek, and man, that Thunderbolt 3 is amazing. Fast, and can carry so many different types of data. I'm starting to lean towards a Thunderbolt 3 type audio interface. Of course, that's when my Echo Layla 3G dies or becomes obsolete. I'll also have to consider the cost of adding a new expansion to my DAW for a TB 3 port--since I don't have that now. Of course I'll do my geeky research on all the pros and cons first.
  13. @Noel Borthwick Would you recommend everyone install this hot fix, even if we're not experiencing the same issues? Stephen
  14. Hmm. I never use normalizing. I use compressors and limiters. I guess some use it and some don't.
  15. Hey all-- Just updated last night (after creating a Windows restore point). Had a couple issues--both seemed to resolve after a reboot. The Bandlab Assistant stayed all whited-out for a long time, before it finally settled down and let me install the update. I was surprised the update was so quick since there were some many "updates" and bug fixes, etc. Then, when I opened CW, it hung for a long time before it finally opened. Then, when I went to open a medium sized project (small for me) it hung too. I had to wait for a long time before it opened and was seeing a Cakewalk not responding up in the top of the window. Before I was going to do a system restore, I rebooted my computer and then CW and the same project opened fine--so of course I didn't need to do a system restore. I haven't tested the Bandlab Assistant yet--but I rarely use that. I just use it to check for updates. That's my report.
  16. I've noticed that Grace Slick either has become or always was a little negative in general. She kind of farts on everything--at least in quotes I've read from her.
  17. The UAD Powered Plug-Ins work great in CW. Have for years (when it was Sonar)!
  18. I guess I never paid attention. Is scook an admin?
  19. I read about this app after I got the email too. I instantly thought about Izotope's RX product. Personally, as an audio correction tool, getting rid of broadband noise, pop, clicks, etc. RX is very handy. Using it for creative purposes - pass. I didn't see any use for this tool.
  20. Hey @richard greenidge Sorry if I pushed a button! See what I did there?! I'm just messing with ya. My question on Behrigner was real though.
