Frankly, I think this conversation is a waste of time. I am perfectly happy with the production and attention this group at Bandlab has given my go to daw over the years. Worrying about other venues is foolish and a needless discussion. Perfecting this on Windows is a important priority and works well for me. Thank you people for your efforts and accomplishments with Cakewalk. It keeps getting better and better, and the fact that you listen to users and their input is really special.

Start freezing tracks once you get them where you want them. It will lighten the load on Cake.

Ok...got everything installed...right up and through Sonar Platinum. It tells me I am in demo mode?????????? I've cut three albums with this software and I am now back in demo mode after paying all my appropriate fees through those years. I am not going to repeat here what my response is to that. It sent me online to get a new authorization, though I have all my old serial numbers etc. Of course, it will NOT let me put any code in because I need the authorization from some unknown person. Holy crap. This is frustrating. Can't get my bandlab to work because it seesn this in limbo. I do not have time to BS around with this. I may have to finally move to another daw. Have had a couple of sleepless nights over this now. What to do? What to do? Damn, damn, damn. Meanwhile this stupid blue demo Mode square is hanging in my lower left hand corner telling me to activate this offline. Right. Stick it.

Ok, so if I am getting this right, you do not have to go back any further than X2a to start installing on Win 10. Correct. And, of course, it will install on Win 10 or is there a special way to go about it?? By the way Scook, thank you for directing me over here. Don't know why I didn't find this thread. I certainly searched. Oh well . thank you. Trying to get all my ducks in order before the end of the week and the unit arrives. thank you all.

Ok, I am finally taking Noel's advice and moving to Win 10. I see the writing on the wall. I have a new laptop coming this week with Win 10 Pro installed as well as DDR4 Ram and SSD. Now the question...since I am a long time user through all the Sonar paid versions, I need a step by step tutorial on how to move everything to the new laptop from Win 7 to Win 10. Any guidance will be appreciated. All my project files are on external disks, so I think I am good there and I do have all the install files backed up on another drive. I just need to get my daw files and, of course, my vsts and vstis over to the new unit. Thank you for any guidance on this transition.

Apparently, I am the only one who has ever had this issue. geez.

Over the course of updates etc, I have had plugs stop working or suddenly not be seen. Most of them seem to have rectified themselves and came back into play. No, I don't know how or why, I just know they did., and frankly, I don't care as long as they work. HOWEVER, one that has NOT returned to being a functional plugin is Breverb 2. Unfortunately, I used it on 95% of my projects which now makes them all messed up when I load any of them. Usually, there is some distortion or simply no sound from the module they are used on. Question: I am disturbed enough by this occurance, or lack thereof, that I would like to replace Breverb 2 with another reverb plug in the Pro Module. There has to be a simple way to do this. I keep going in circles reading the Pro Channel tutorials. If someone knows a quick and easy way, I would sincerely appreciate it. Thank you for reading my question and understanding my plight.

Suddenly vsts like Overloud Breve reverb are not working. So much for paid for life b.s. Now, any mix I did previously with that and other plugs will not play correctly or the tracks are blocked because of those plugs. I will not say that I am annoyed, because if I said what I am thinking right now, I would be banned from this forum. So, I will try and calm myself down and chalk it up to being screwed again. Very, very annoying people.

I have had the same thing happen. It does open as saved then it kind of clicks itself into its own setting. Problem is, once that happens the original saved screen is forgotten.

Is the initial link in this forum always the most recent updated one? I am assuming it is, but then, assumptions tend to get me in trouble. Thank you if this is too obvious. I love this daw and try my best to keep everything up to date. When I am convincing others about switching, it is always convenient to have the latest tutorials.

I definitely would check on the last plugs added or tested on your system. I use freeze track on almost every project and have not encountered an issue at all.

That "A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed." " <- is usually because the original install disk cant be accessed ... its Dsim (Win installer system related . It can make changes to the core of Windows). btw the "sfc /scannow" is a bit naughty the way they have it set up.. it will put all your preferences back to win 10 defaults (restore spyware etc if you disabled it). Think you only get 3 chances at a key ... then you have to phone m/s tech support .. at whatever their crazy phone charges are per minute. Could you have possibly unplugged a HD and plugged it into another sata port...or maybe added a hd aftter installing Win off of some boot media? Seems like it's looking for a particular drive that probably housed the install media, say a drive E or I or whatever. Unfortunately, without seeing it, it is tough to be sure. This is only a guess. Suggest that after you resolve this situation, you use third party clone ware from this point forward. I would suggest you get a copy of Hirens Boot Disk. It will not only find your product key, but has AOMEi backup on it which is a free, but excellent cloning backup program. I have done three backups in the last two weeks because of the work situation here. I usually schedule it while I am sleeping. Wake up and I am good to go. Wish I had more to offer you Craig. Installed smoothly for me.

I had that issue but solved it by making sure my keyboard was on and plugged in before I started Cakewalk/Sonar. For some reason the daw wasn't seeing it if I turned it on while in the project. Dunno if that will help you but that was my experience.
