  1. Hi Brian, Never hurts to be prepared. I hope you enjoy the MODX once it arrives. If you have not done so yet, in addition to the USB driver you may want to download and install "MODX Connect". Per Yamaha's website MODX Connect allows the keyboard to be installed as a VST3 plug-in. More information here: https://usa.yamaha.com/products/music_production/synthesizers/modx/apps.html#product-tabs MODX Connect is available with the USB driver downloads https://usa.yamaha.com/products/music_production/synthesizers/modx/downloads.html#product-tabs
  2. How about your forum avatar? It would be distinctive!
  3. Hi Mike, I don't know. I'd hate to mislead you with a guess. May I suggest you start another message post and ask that question? My workflow is different. I use an outboard digital recorder to record my tracks or use Band-in-a-Box to create audio tracks and import my audio tracks into Cakewalk for editing, mixing and effects processing. Getting back to your initial question and my questions, where do you hear sound coming from? What sound is missing, guitar or Cakewalk by Bandlab audio tracks?
  4. Wow, what a storage space! That's like a huge Cakewalk / Sonar attic space. I've gotta' spend some time exploring.
  5. I'm impressed with the Monroe Music website. If the site is any indication of Adam Monroe I'm very impressed. The site does not collect your e-mail address or require registration prior to downloading the freebies. The site has virtual instruments as well as effects. Prices are exceptionally inexpensive.
  6. Nice backing track. I really enjoy hearing your use of the Jam Orgin Midi Guitar 2 plugin. This is a great example demonstrating how well the plugin works. Side question, I'm trying to figure out what web site offers the weekly backing tracks. I believe it is TDPRI.com, is that correct? https://www.tdpri.com/
  7. @Variorum, Thank You! Thank You! That's two heartfelt words of thanks. Thank you number 1 is for sharing your talent and expertise with us. Any thing that can make MIDI more user friendly is welcome. Thank you number 2 is for your cheerful and upbeat attitude in all your messages. I can't express how uplifting and refreshing it is to read your posts. You inspire me . This forum is very lucky to have you as a member.
  8. The idea of a beginner's lens or screen set is a good idea in my opinion. One idea I think worth deeper investigation is lens based on experience level and screen sets by function. By that I mean different lens for beginner, apprentice, journeyman, craftsman, master and user lens with each lens adding more features. Each lens would have 10 customizable screen sets like present with the defaults based on daw centrist functions like (1) Audio Tracking (2) Midi 2 Audio (3) Loops (4) Editing (5) Mixing (6) Mastering (7) Distribution and user screen sets.
  9. @Chris Boshuizen, Great catch. I'm glad you figured out a way to reproduce the glitch and video it. This is the kind of thing that can drive a person batty when you're in the mood to get something done and then something like this happens. May I make two suggestions? First click on the support request link in my signature line and submit a formal bug report to the developers. While the developers are pretty good about visiting the forum I'd hate for this glitch to slip by because they failed to see this message thread. Second include computer information like cpu, ram, operating system, audio interface or motherboard audio device and graphics.
  10. That link didn't work for me. The link circles back to this message thread. If it helps, I've made the same kind of mistake many, many times! @Chuck E Baby Here is a YouTube video that details how to use "Fit Improvisation". Perhaps this is what you meant to link to? https://youtu.be/MnAqjtXglOQ
  11. @SvenGreat question that I unfortunately don't know the answer to. May I suggest you repost the question in the Cakewalk by Bandlab Q&A forum section. More eyes will see the post and you'll have a better chance of receiving an accurate answer. A link is below. If it turns out the answer is no then this forum section is the appropriate place to suggest adding the feature. https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/forum/12-qa/
  12. A 10 - 15 second zap in the microwave is almost as good as hot off the line. My wife likes Duncan Donut cake donuts. Me, gotta' be chocolate covered or regular Krispy Kreme glazed.
  13. When the red "HOT" sign is on you can watch the doughnut assembly line, use tongs to pick 'em up and put 'em in the box, pay and then walk out with the biggest smile on your face. Best smelling perfume you can buy for you or your car! They first started making them in Winston-Salem, North Carolina USA in 1939.
  14. Looks like MacOS 10.15 (Catalina) release slipped to October per Apple's website. https://www.apple.com/macos/catalina/
  15. I'm not sure how much US money 100 CAD is equal to since the country you reside in is not listed in your profile so, with that in mind ... The PreSonus Studio 24c hits all the bullet points you listed. It has It sells for about $150 US. https://www.presonus.com/products/Studio-24c
  16. For Windows computers, USB interfaces offer the largest selection to choose from. Since so many manufacturers offer USB interfaces, prices are competitive. Few Windows computer motherboards ship with Thunderbolt ports but expansion cards are available. Expansion card adds an additional layer of complexity when issues arise and can only be as solid as the software driver. One Windows update and the driver may not work until it is updated.
  17. @wmike Where do you hear sound coming from? What sound is missing, guitar or Cakewalk by Bandlab audio tracks? That will help determine where the breakdown is. In general the audio signal chain is: guitar pickup(s) > guitar cable > Yamaha THR 10C input > Yamaha THR 10C USB OUT > USB Cable > Computer USB IN > Yamaha THR 10C ASIO Audio In Driver > Cakewalk by Bandlab selected input driver > Cakewalk by Bandlab track (track meter moves) > Cakewalk by Bandlab insert effects > other Cakewalk by Bandlab audio tracks (playback track(s) meter(s) moves as audio from recorded guitar and other audio tracks are summed (combined) into a stereo mix) > Cakewalk by Bandlab main out (meter moves) > Cakewalk by Bandlab selected output driver > Yamaha THR 10C ASIO Audio Out Driver > Computer USB OUT > USB Cable > Yamaha THR 10C USB IN > Yamaha 10C twin speakers or headphone jack > headphones . The audio should be a mix of guitar and Cakewalk by Bandlab playback tracks. Additionally, your computer may internally route the guitar audio from the USB port and the Cakewalk by Bandlab audio from the program through the Windows audio mixer. So, with Cakewalk open and the Yamaha THR 10C USB cable connected open the Windows control panel and look at the record and playback mixers to make sure Windows has not muted any mixer channels. While in your Windows audio record and playback settings you can direct all your computer audio to go to the Yamaha THR 10C by selecting it for your audio output instead of the audio output (motherboard Realtec or Intel chip) the computer presently uses. Finally, both the Cakewalk by Bandlab program and Windows likes for the USB cable between the computer and THR 10C to be connected, and for the amplifier to be turned on, before you open the Cakewalk by Bandlab program. Sometimes Windows will not use an ASIO driver until the device is connected and active. So, assuming your computer is on and Windows loaded beforehand, your start up routine needs to be (1) plug in guitar, (2) plug in USB cable, (3) power up amplifier, (4) Open Cakewalk by Bandlab, (5) Open project, (optional 6) verify Cakewalk by Bandlab ASIO settings.
  18. May I suggest the Groove3 video tutorial, "Learn The Fundamentals Of MIDI" https://www.groove3.com/tutorials/MIDI-Explained MIDI.org article, "Introduction To MIDI" https://www.midi.org/articles-old/an-intro-to-midi MIDI. ORG tutorials: https://www.midi.org/articles
  19. Here is a MIDI Channel data in file header side question. Can Cakewalk by Bandlab or another program edit file header channel assignments in the file header? For example lets say a midi file header has a marimba (patch # 12) assigned to midi channel 6 and I want to change the midi channel 6 patch assignment to Choir Aahs (patch # 52). If Cakewalk can't do it, what kind of program can change header data?
  20. @Charley Rich, Some background information about how you use your audio interface would be helpful. For example, do you need midi 5 pin in and out ports? How many instrument port connections will you use at the same time? Do you use condenser microphones that require phantom power? How many line-in connections are needed? Here are two devices that Bandlab sells for less than $100 US: https://store.bandlab.com/collections/link-digital
  21. @wmike The answer is ... maybe. It depends on (1) what audio you're listening to and (2) how the audio is getting into your computer. For example, if you're listening to the audio coming out of the THR 10C twin 8 cm speakers then no you will not hear the Cakewalk effects. To hear the effects added in Cakewalk you will need to be listening to the output of the Cakewalk program. Pages 17 and 18 of the THR 10C user manual describes how to connect the amp to your computer so you can listen through the THR 10C. You'll just need to substitute the words Cakewalk by Bandlab for Cubase AI. You will have to set up Cakewalk by Bandlab to send and receive THR 10C digital audio . You will need to download and install the Yamaha THR ASIO audio driver available from the Yamaha website Press the letter "P" on your computer keyboard to open the preferences window and then set your audio settings to ASIO and Yamaha input and output.
  22. Guitar Center has a headphone test station that includes some ear buds.
  23. @Chuck E Baby I never knew that existed! Thanks for sharing the video link while answering the question. You have to love how ARA2 allows Melodyne and Cakewalk by Bandlab to be so tightly integrated. That is just an awesome video! Do you know if the drag to timeline function works with all Melodyne editions (Essential, Assistant, Editor and Studio)?
  24. @Marcello Rossi, you stated the bug has been around "for awhile". It might help the developers figure out what has changed if they had an idea when you first noticed the issue. May I suggest you submit a support request? The support request form allows file attachment so you can include your CAL file. Submit a support request below: https://help.cakewalk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000025633
  25. @Sven, as you mentioned and included links to, adding dedicated and distinct start / stop markers to the Cakewalk by Bandlab program is an idea that is frequently raised. The fact that users keep coming up with workarounds add weight to the fact that start and stop markers might be a feature idea worthy of inclusion into the program.
