  1. @locrian, why knock it? Have you tried it?
  2. Bakers, What songs made it to the "made with Cakewalk" NAMM 2020 playlist?
  3. @craigb I've heard some people dispute that and mention they think "Revolution #9" is the best Beatles song. Me, I think "Hey Bulldog" is an under rated treasure.
  4. Purrfect Audio is a good solution. Even though audio computers are kind of rare, several other solutions exist. What I find unique are the combination of an embedded 64 bit Windows operating system and integrated audio and midi interface. In my opinion I believe having a built-in operating system and interface minimizes the need for driver and operating system updates which should make for a more stable system than adapting a general purpose computer for audio use
  5. If you're interested, drum triggers are pretty easy to make. Here is a recent article that's all about drum triggers: https://drummagazine.com/everything-you-ever-wanted-to-know-about-drum-triggers-but-were-afraid-to-ask/ Here is a step-by-step construction guide that suggests you can build a trigger for less than $5 US in parts: https://drummagazine.com/do-it-yourself-drum-triggers/ There are also plenty of how to videos on YouTube. Of course you can buy aftermarket triggers to retrofit acoustic drums instead of making your own. Many drummers are picky, picky, picky about their drums and may feel uncomfortable with you taping triggers to their drums. One way around that is to mount several triggers to several drum heads. Then you can offer to provide your drum heads for the recording session so both the acoustic and midi can be captured.
  6. @Tezza, Like you I approach guitar VSTi from a guitar player viewpoint more than a keyboard player viewpoint so I'm gathering a lot of important information from your observations. Many people suggest you need to think like an instrument "x" player to get a Instrument "x" VSTi to sound authentic. My guess is many VSTi designers do not play the instrument they design so when an instrument "x" player tries to use the VSTi it is more difficult to use than it needs to be. There are multiple reasons why I'm so interested in guitar VSTi. I have no interest in recording my guitar playing. I live in a very noisy area and I'm a terrible musician! But I understand music from a guitar perspective and most popular music has one or more guitar tracks. I like working with midi so guitar VSTi makes sense for me.
  7. Per Google Translate Milton said: Firefox offers multiple translate plugin extensions. I downloaded the recommended extension but haven't tried it yet. The recommended extension automatically sends highlighted text to Google Translate. Look close and be careful as a few of the extensions have negative reviews.
  8. I recently came across the Seelake AudioStation website. Seelake is an Italian manufacturer of purpose built audio computers. Does anyone in the forum use their products or have any experience with them? http://seelake.com/en/allproducts.html
  9. I recently saw a thread where the forum member posted in another language. One of the responses was (paraphrase) "Post in English". Cakewalk by BandLab is part of BandLab Technologies which is an international community with staff located across the globe. As the program gains a user base around the globe there will be more and more instances of forum members posting in a language beside English. I believe it is important for all BandLab and Cakewalk by BandLab users to feel comfortable, welcome and appreciated as forum members. The forum is the best way for program users to provide feedback and allow the program to grow. One way the forum can be more user friendly is to add a "Translate" button to the menu at the top of the response window. The "Translate" button would open a Google Translate window. The "Translate" button should automatically sense the computer operating system language and be able to translate from the operating system language into English. When the "Enter" key is pressed on the computer keyboard the original message and translated message are posted. This provides every forum user an easy way to post their message in a format that will be easy for all forum members to read.
  10. @Noel Borthwick previously responded in an earlier post that English is the preferred forum language so @lapasoa just repeated what has already been stated. Unfortunately that was some time ago and I did not find Noel's post when I performed a quick search. Having said that Google Translate is our friend and it is pretty easy for all readers to translate a post written in a different language into English. It helps when another forum member with a good command of English follows up and provides whatever nuance and context Google Translate misses. The primary language of the staff is English so it makes sense the staff prefers English in forum posts when those posts report issues. Otherwise, perhaps English in a post is a courtesy but not as important as the poster feeling comfortable, welcome and engaged.
  11. This thread is turning into a really interesting discussion of guitar VSTi. @Tezza and @David Baay thanks for sharing your observations.
  12. Per Google translate: Please explain what you mean by sidewalk design. Por favor, explique o que você quer dizer com "desenhos de calçada". Perhaps you would find Mix Challenge useful. https://mix-challenge.com/ Talvez você ache o Mix Challenge útil. https://mix-challenge.com/
  13. @mettelus, I also am curious how the disabled ones differ from the newer ones. Having said that, all I have are the ones that are disabled in CbB since I don't have Sonar.
  14. I've read numerous posts asking variations of what is a User Theme, how to install a User Theme and how to select a User Theme. I'm requesting a forum moderator create a sticky post that answers the questions. I'm taking a stab at creating a sticky worthy post but I'm certainly open to alternatives. What is a Theme? A theme is a graphic image and color container, or skin, that changes the looks of the Cakewalk by Bandlab user interface or UI. A theme does not change features or behavior, just how the program looks. Cakewalk by Bandlab has two Bandlab Technologies created themes, Mercury and Tungsten. All other themes are created by third parties and collectively named "user themes". Theme files have the .sth file extension and are stored at c:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Themes by default. Select themes by pressing p on the computer keyboard, or navigate to Edit > Preferences to open the Preference window then Customization > Themes Unless you are going to create or modify a theme, the theme editor available as an add-on selection in the Bandlab Assistant is not needed.
  15. This post is my first exposure to Duckbar. I clicked on the link, read the content and discovered Duckbar 2020 is a feature add-on for Cakewalk by BandLab and that Duckbar was previously a Sonar feature add-on for Sonar. There is still much I don't know. How is Duckbar 2020 installed? Does it run inside or outside CbB? Will it need to be installed each time CbB is updated? I'm looking forward to trying it out.
  16. scook, I thought "Refresh Activation" selection was added to the Bandlab Assistant so the existing installation can maintain active without having to access the internet and check in.
  17. How does one go about obtaining the Cakewalk MP3 encoder? I found this announcement on the old website, provided my email address but haven't received an email. I've tried it while signed into my account and as a visitor.
  18. @chuckebaby Well, that 2012 thread was as clear as mud. As far as I can tell one term selects which track is displayed in the track inspector while the other term selects which track will accept edits, right? I did click on Karl Rose's links and discovered his pdf files are still available on DropBox!🙂
  19. @chuckebaby, I'm confused. Okay so you place focus on a track so you can work on the track while a second track is selected. What can you do with the selected track? Why would you want to have a selected track while working on the track in focus?
  20. @Olaf, I don't think I've seen a post where multiple feedback suggestions are presented in a poll so your post will be a first for this forum. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
  21. Keeping the track number first and then the track label as the name for exported tracks makes sense to me. One of the things that makes Cakewalk by BandLab useful to so many different people is how adaptable the program is. It's not unusual for studios and libraries to have a unique track naming convention so allowing a user to specify a naming convention for exported tracks makes sense.
  22. Pretty nice idea, I like it.
  23. @Gary Shore Wow, thanks for sharing your timestamped outline. It will be very helpful.
