  1. I have zero experience with EW Play sounds, but if they don't have a way to detune the pianos, but they do respond to MIDI PB, perhaps you can insert a small PB at the start of the 1/4-tuned track (assuming you don't use PB within the music itself). Never mind, I just found a manual for EW Pianos on line. Not only do they not use scale files, they do not have "control codes" for PB. Its a long shot, but a 2008 article at Sweetwater mentions an Advanced Properties window. Also, an online Play 6 Manual references a Tune Knob. Not sure if you can do that with your version of Play and those specific pianos, but maybe. BTW, the manual I found does reference PB in a section on "Different MIDI Modes." Good luck with that.
  2. I can relate--I have aging eyes!!! I have even started to use Microsoft's built-in magnifier!!! My fingers already know the open and close short-cuts without my brain having to step them through it!!!
  3. Is the display set to anything larger than 100%?
  4. My bad, I called them FX bins, not the FX Rack. The alto sax is an Eb instrument; the tenor is a Bb instrument so the transpositions would be different. I never played the baritone sax, but the internet says it also uses the treble clef (and is also an Eb instrument).
  5. I think this problem and alternative solutions provides a good example of a number of things. To help sort things out for myself, I broke down the method that I used yesterday (which worked--one of several possible solutions) and tried to make a visual representation that supplements the discussion of options, midi flow, etc. both in this thread and the second thread the OP created. (I elongated the final note in the C major scale example to illustrate the result of the Transpose MFX plug-in on both (1) the chord analyzer MFX plug-in [midi data coming from the FX bin FX Rack in the midi track] and (2) MeldaProduction's MTuner plug-in [audio data coming from the FX bin FX Rack in the TTS-1 soft synth track]. Track 1 has a series of three MFX plug-ins. The first chord analyzer shows the midi data before the transposition (Transpose MFX). The second chord analyzer shows the midi data after the transposition. So, the C played in Track 1 gets transposed to an Eb [aka D#]. The staff view of track 1 stays the same (the C Major scale example). The MTuner plug-in in Track 3 's FX bin FX Rack shows that the audio for that sustained C is played as an Eb/D#. If this helps, great. If not, just pretend you never saw this.
  6. Is this the same solution that scook suggested and I tried? I thought it was the solution, not a work-around. Aha! You are confirming that it works, too, I think. LOL! Maybe we don't understand what the OP wants? I used a soft synth for my test; maybe its different with external gear? Maybe I did something wrong? With the soft synth I used a separate midi track, not a hybrid midi + audio track; maybe that makes a different? (If so, that's another reason to avoid non-split tracks.) If by FX you mean the MFX Transpose plug-in, this makes sense. It would explain why it worked for me yesterday. Hope this works for the OP, too.
  7. When I put the MFX Transpose plug-in on both tracks and pitch them down 9 half-steps, both sounded lower by 9 half-steps. Does that fit the description of what you want? Track 1 looks like it is written in C but with the MFX Transpose set to -9, it sounds like Track 2 looks.
  8. Glad you noticed and corrected that.
  9. Come on. 3 + 9 = 12. If you count 3 up from C, that's Eb. If you count 9 down from C, that's Eb.
  10. LOL. After I replied in your other post, I saw this one. Here's one of the tutorials on using Kontakt within Cakewalk. There maybe be others, too. According to my internet search Etherealwinds Harp II requires a full version of Kontakt, which I assume you have if that's what you are using. If you already watch some videos from Creative Sauce, maybe it means that his style doesn't resonate with you. If not, you probably need to find a video tutorial maker that jives with your learning style. There are all sorts--from rambling, off the cuff/on-the-fly demonstrations, to more polished/produced videos.** Since you seem to be starting from scratch and have seen some tutorials already, maybe you should look at a few more from different tutorial makers you haven't seen yet and pick the one you can get the most out of. You mention finding tutorials to read. Perhaps videos don't work for you. I have had that problem and prefer videos that I can follow along, pause, and do a hands-on exploration myself. Also, there is a huge Cakewalk Reference Guide if you are into reading docs. **Addendum: Robert McClellan also has a number of videos that feature Cakewalk.
  11. Thanks for the clarification. I see that Etherealwinds Harp II is for Kontakt. I have seen listings for tutorials showing how to use Kontakt within Cakewalk. Maybe some of those videos will help if you haven't seen them already. Also, I recall reading recently that the latest version of Cakewalk 2021.06 has some improvements that are designed to help people who use Kontakt (as well as other users). (I don't use Kontakt.)
  12. Do you have a goal (or a set of interrelated goals)? Is it as simple as you state, to peck out tunes on your laptop's keyboard and mess around with them? If so, you already seem to know how to do that. In any case, you might do well to look in the tutorials thread. There are a number of tutorials in different styles on both generalized tasks and specific, targeted tasks. Some of those might either assist with your goal as stated or help you decide more specifically what you want to do. As for figuring out how to use a VSTi harp plug-in, I know I've seen some tutorials that show how to insert and use soft synths. Do you have a specific plug-in you want to use? If so, perhaps someone with that manufacturer's plug-in can help. I listened to your file using Cakewalk TTS-1, a basic multi-timbral soft synth that comes with Cakewalk. I changed the patch to Harp using the track control widgets, but it sounded like drumming like on the low strings on a piano. So on the menu bar I went to Process > Transpose and pitched it up 3 octaves (+36 half steps). At least the sounds were more harp-like, but I couldn't tell if there was a recognizable tune you were aiming for. If you were hitting notes on your laptop to try to simulate chords on a guitar, you might want to look into a basic strumming program.
  13. FYI: I suspect StringStydioVST.dll is a typo, but maybe not. PS: Google says typo (as opposed to being mixed up), too:
  14. Yeah--the Smith cover received quite a lot of airplay as I recall. Just for fun, I looked up covers and found this one (who knew?): Anyone know of an instrumental electronic version that incorporates the styles of Tomita, Booker T, and Telstar (and maybe a twist of 21st century disco)?

Its the grey on lighter grey issue, but it's there in the original image posted (same spot as in msmcleod's image). In the theming guide Colin Nicholls does, there's this: To me this suggests that there may be a color somewhere that MIGHT be tweakable. Perhaps its a matter of choosing a different theme? FOUND IT!!! So that means that everyone should be able to take their themes of choice and tweak the color of that parameter in the Theme Editor to a color that is more user friendly.
  16. Have used many times. Checked F1 for how to generate / use automation. Way friggin' cool! Thx.
  17. Is it blocked per Windows? [image of Properties box with the Unblock check box removed; I need the attachment space]
  18. Just in case it wasn't clear, both expressions of "Thanks" were and still are sincere. If you thought I was being sarcastic, I wasn't.
  19. I haven't used any referral codes because I heard about them after I upgraded from the Free Bundle to the licensed version of the Free Bundle. It just seemed to me that I was no longer a new customer. But if I can, I wonder if I can use my own referral code for a combined 30% off the Complete Bundle (on the current 60% off sale price, of course!). 😜
