  1. FYI, if you don't have this video or Groove 3 subscription:
  2. Hi Chris, as Byron stated, the plugin relies on the license.txt file provided by Harrison when you purchase it. This file must be placed in your root folder like below. Alternately, the plugin allows you to just drop the file in when you first open it asks for the license which seems to be your problem. FYI, all of my AVA plugs load without issue though I'm just using VST3 versions. Do you have another DAW you can try it in? That would at least allow you to activate it and verify it's working. Other than re-installing CnB and the plug, I'm not sure what else to suggest.
  3. FYI, no crash here inserting Q3 to FX on empty project and to a track with a stereo file loaded with or without Ozone9 on Master Bus. Surface Pro 4 Win 10.0.18363 CnB 2019.12 Q3 3.11
  4. Thanks Jim! Another good resource is Glitch Free PDF by Brad at Canabile
  5. Thanks et al for the info on Affinity! I've got a small project this week for an event poster and tickets - will put Publisher through the paces. I agree, $49 seems very reasonable for a fine product - reminiscent of companies like Valhalla.
  6. More info from a conversation on the Samplitude Forum (must be logged in) for those still on the fence on this one. I did purchase it mainly for the additional stuff as I have Vegas Pro 14 (refuse to give Magix another $199) and dabbled in Resolve. I'm not a power user but this was interesting. Philw: I've installed Hitfilm Express (free) to discover, but there's no way to setup audio pref, that's insane, I have no sound (meters works, clip has audio in it). Trensharo: I would use HitFilm Pro over Free Resolve, unless I used formats only supported by Resolve (and not HitFilm). I would use Resolve Studio over HitFilm Pro, though, except for small[er] hobby projects where I just don't want to deal with the "extras," forced project setup/management, and don't have a lot of footage to manage. Ignite Pro can be used with practically any NLE, incl. Resolve, but what's supported depends on the particular host. Generally you won't get full support in anything that isn't a Compositing/VFX package (Adobe After Effects, Apple Motion, maybe [not] Blackmagic Fusion). For small projects, HitFilm is fine, though. I got the bundle, mostly for the Ignite Pro Plugins... but I also replaced my VEGAS Pro install with HitFilm Pro. FXhome supports the projects better ,and with VEGAS you're perpetually waiting on fixes and stuck with a broken product when a new one is released. Samplitude Pro X is fortunate to have a longer release cadence, IMHO. Also, anytime I have to reinstall VEGAS Pro (sometimes it would get broken to the point where I have to do this), I'd have to reinstall Sound Forge Pro and ACID Pro, since Uninstalling VEGAS Pro breaks all of the DIrectX plugins and often I have to do a full registry clean and then reinstall everything to fix it (or I'd get random error messages due to things not being registered properly). Only happens with VEGAS Pro 😞 Philw: I am not enough pro in video to go deep inside softs... your experience is interesting, thanks. Anyway, I have a reply from the Hitfilm forum and... it's a joke... you CAN'T setup the audio in this soft, period. It's a powerful soft, that can be used professionally, but you can't setup the audio...?!?! how it's possible, in 2019 ? Win Audio is deactivated here, I use only the soundcard, so it's dead. Impressive. Trensharo: HitFilm is a VFX/Compositing Application with necessary editing functionality tacked onto it. It is not a DAW turned into an NLE like VEGAS Pro. Some applications have holdover "issues" informed by history. For example, Resolve is an amazing NLE, but it has stupid high GPU requirements that result from its history as a color grading platform. So, even if you run it only for Audio Post (Fairlight), you still need a decent GPU or you're going to run into performance issues. Because HitFilm started off as a budget alternative to After Effects, this has informed its early development, and that's why it has this shortcoming today. For years, HitFilm Pro (which used to include the Ignite Plugins, as well) was bundled in the Vegas Pro Suites by Sony. So, many people would get VEGAS Pro Suite as a cheaper alternative to the Adobe Video Suite (Vegas, HitFilm, and Sound Forge Pro, DVD Architect, etc.). This is why HitFilm has shipped integration plugins for VEGAS Pro since many years ago. If you need an NLE with good Audio functionality, then HitFilm Pro is not the NLE for you. I don't even think it supports VST plugins. It's a VFX/Compositing Solution with the necessary editing functionality built into it. This would not be a problem, except it doesn't support common interchange formats like OMF and AAF... SO either get VEGAS Pro 16/17 + HitFilm Pro, or use a different NLE like Resolve Studio while saving money and gaining on functionality (but also system requirements), without the round tripping headache (Resolve does not support ASIO, though).
  7. I agree but since this was really about The Orchestra, I didn't want it missed. I missed the mishap on the Complete upgrade and then missed the KVR sale of Amadeus at $85 - took the 4 grandkids on a short trip and been on the road for 16 hours - HIGH priority and memories we'll all benefit from! For myself, I am still dragging my Gas! Which isn't a bad thing but I'm still considering my options on this product. 😀
  8. Just an update to this thread : $160 @ JRR blowout for The Orchestra (via Larry) $119 @ Best Service for The Orchestra Complete unpgrade including Strings of Winter
  9. 😀 I thought the same thing actually. I'm "music schooled' so I'm not concerned with ease necessarily. However, this has helped as it seems one significant difference is that The Orchestra allows for wider level of musician i.e. scoring individual instruments & groups AS WELL AS quick and easy full orchestra playing. Thanks all! EDIT: though Bit & Reid seem to be saying opposite things which may indicate that both programs are a good choice with The Orchestra having a bit more manageability?
  10. Before the season is over for gas-induced inquiring minds and aside from price, are there any major considerations/comparisons from those "in the know?" Surely there are usable apples and oranges in both programs? e.g. usability of sounds for projects; GUI & user-friendliness; scratch to performance efficiency, $100 difference in value?, etc. Indiginus Amadeus Symphonic Orchestra $119 https://indiginus.com/amadeus.html Sonuscore The Orchestra ca. $199 https://sonuscore.com/shop/the-orchestra/
  11. Me2, Absolute 3 -> 4 for $49 would be sweet!! I regret not picking up Cubase after the Gibson debacle so a 50% crossgrade from WaveLab/Absolute would also be welcome.
  12. Finally, start to finish in under 5 minutes with my slow internet - done. Very nice freebie indeed!
  13. I use LastPass for home stuff but for audio, I've always just used MS Notepad and upload to OneDrive for access anywhere.

    PA Days 11 + 12

Considering that I have the other two, this would be the one of interest but (at this stage) only if I could use a $25 voucher Thanks for your input!

  16. ^^^This my next step - sad but true. I have two 1TB drives: 1 for Kontakt libs and 1 for non-K - both at 90%. That's after I moved all my loops and one shots to the BU storage drive. Sample Hoarders Anonymous!!!

  19. ….or $2.81/ea when you purchase all 16 with the Allmighty MIDI Pack for $45. I'm not a Heavy Metal fan and not familiar with this brand. Anybody have/use these - MIDI or samples?
  20. In the Spring of 2018 I went on my first cruise with Carnival. The shows and talent were good but the "loudness" was really unbearable. The mix on the tracks & band was good but as soon as the vocals came in, they just blared. While I have walked out/away because of poor talent, I haven't walked out of a venue because it was too loud - until that trip. I wasn't going to sit there and hold my hands over the ears. It hurt. I was watching the sound person. The show was nearly all automated and she never once adjusted (mixed) vocals - individually or grouped. My hands would have been all over the faders throughout. I complained to the cruise director and told him first that it was unhealthy and not beneficial to the performers or the audience and second that there was nothing enjoyable about tolerating the volume. When the survey came following the trip, I voiced the same concern and my observations of the performance. Much to my surprise, I received a reply, phone number, and request to call. I did and we had a really good conversation about volume, mixing, and automation pros & cons. He did say that they have had some issues with that particular engineer. So, kudos to Carnival for the follow-up and at least acknowledging their quality assurance. Coincidentally, my wife is a nurse administrator and I have done some Occupational Medicine training and testing. Earlier this week, I learned to do listening tests. OSHA standards state that exposure to 8 hours with a Time Weighted Average (TWA) of 85db would require the company to do annual tests to verify whether shifts in hearing thresholds occur so they can make needed changes in hearing protection. We did testing for a local company and it was very interesting to see the individual differences. The test is administered blindly beginning at 25db (for each frequency) at 1000hz for approximately one second while they respond when they hear the signal. If not, you decrement 10db test then increment 5db until they hear which is their threshold for that frequency. We then test at 500hz, 2000hz, 3000hz, 4000hz, 6000hz. It was quite interesting as some e.g. might have a threshold at 0db at 2000hz, 30db at 3000hz, 20db at 4000hz. It was really varied. I even had a few who went to 90db at 3000hz - I could literally hear the signal before they acknowledged and they had closed-ear headphones on. I came away with a new appreciation for hearing health and hearing-aid providers who should actually take the time to personalize devices and EQ for individual customers. We all hear differently which I would assume means we mix differently as well?
  21. Thanks @craigb (I think :). I just keep thinking , this is America; this is the 21st century; this..... wait, now I feel guilty - am I one of those "entitled?" Naw, I'm too old for that and in the spirit of Thanksgiving, am indeed very grateful and blessed! Less time on the internet means more time with the grandkids who showed up yesterday for a week of gratitude. We'll have around 50 family crammed in our house this Thursday!
  22. Don't usually vent (or post here) but....I suppose I have been unwittingly spoiled by internet services up until now. Earlier this year we moved to a small rural town in Kansas - actually 2 miles outside of town on a nice municipal lake (which was why we bought) and only 50 miles outside a city of 400k. Internet has come to pain-staking halt. Our only options at this time is Hughesnet (of which I've never heard anything positive) and a local wireless service that "may" provide 5mbps download speed for $80/mo and a 12 month commitment - I ain't doing it! 😠 I had decided to buy a Verizon Jetpack to use which worked not fast but good enough - until the fourth day when I received a text stating that I had used up my quota. What???? Sure enough, while we have "unlimited data" (yeah right!) once you've downloaded/streamed a designated amount, it is CHOKED down to a crawl - even an email takes minutesssss download. I finally cancelled that but was unable to revert to my previous plan because Verizon had changed their plans and I ended up paying a third more than what I was before. (I can't find a screw-you-Verizon emoji) So , I find myself empathetic towards those who have the same woes - I've read your responses with sympathy but now I feel your pain & frustration! 😩 Lastly, after getting XO, I was disappointed to find that XLN has ablsolutely no provision (as others I'm sure) for offline installation. Usually, I will just go to the coffee shop or library in town and download to my SurfacePro but this does me no good when companies use proprietary installers without offline options. I love the ability to maintain products with these installers but learning to hate those that punish the out-lyers with no provision to at least download the content separately. 🥴 I am experiencing a similar situation with drivers for a 3-year-old Kodak printer. I downloaded the latest software/driver/installer and it immediately demanded internet to check for updates without anyway to proceed beyond that. Uggghhh!! 😬 Okay, all done . If you read this far, my apologies but appreciate you reading 😁
