  1. Since I made the mistake of updating my Scarlet 6i6 drivers about a month ago (the first since I bought it 4 years ago) I've been having numerous issues. I wish I would've just let it alone. It was working fine up till then. The other day I got a BSOD when I switched on the interface (I usually boot the computer first, then flip the switch on the back of the Scarlett). This one said to google "Bad Pool Header" which I did and it said that that particular error usually means a device driver problem and as it happened right after switching the unit on I took it that the rogue driver was the Scarlett driver. I emailed Focusrite tech support and they told me to DL and try the recently revised driver from their beta page-http://beta.focusrite.com/ . I didn't try it yet. I'm afraid to. I also don't appreciate the fact that they take 5 or 6 days to reply to a tech support issue. They emailed me as survey form before I even got the answer and I responded negatively. I'm considering trying another interface, 😊John B
  2. This is very pretty. I take it this is all virtual instruments. My only nit is there seems to be a bit too much high end on the flute (Recorder?). I'd roll off a bit on that. Very beautiful composition. 😀John B

    UP TO SKY

Your music is so clean and well produced. Love your voice and your harmonies. The mix is perfect to my ears. So relaxing. 😀John B
  4. Wonder if that's why I got a Bad Pool Header BSOD when I went to fire up my Scarlett this morning. Seriously, it's been nothing but a PITA since I updated that stupid driver. Like the saying goes "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". 😀JB
  5. You made it your own, and did a very fine job. 😊John B
  6. Well, I set it for Automatic. I also ticked Recycle. Still have the issues with the old 32 bit plugs. In fact, an audio engine drop out happened. I also tried increasing the buffer. No joy. Guess I'll just have to swap out the plugins for 64. 😊JB
  7. Thanks so much, Colin! I'm going to look into that. You may have saved me some serious "retooling" in those past projects because I frequently go back and redo some aspects to try to improve them (as many others do, I'm sure). My music is always a "work in progress". 😀JB
  8. Thanks again, Steve. I don't like to think back on that confrontation. I'd rather move forward, but I do appreciate your thoughts. 😀JB
  9. I have a first generation Scarlett 6i6 interface. I didn't update the original drivers until a few weeks ago. After doing so I opened a project I did about a year ago and found it choppy and full of the old "lack of memory clicks". A bit angered and disturbed by this new development, I realized that beings that I now have 16 gigs of RAM on my PC, it couldn't be because my memory was running low, so I started removing plugins. I was always a fan of DaSample's Glaceverb free plugin. When I removed it from the tracks it was in, the situation improved drastically. Glaceverb is 32 bit and there is no 64 bit version available (In fact, according to KVR Audio, it's still on it's initial version that's almost 10 years old, but what do ya want for free?) I also used to make heavy use of the "Classic" effects plugins by Kjaerhus (anybody remember those? They came with Mixcraft). They also produced problems because they're also only 32 bits. So, I guess another lesson learned-You can't use 32 bit plugins in a 64 bit DAW. I have several past projects with these plugins so I guess I'll have to replace them one by one if I ever want to remix or revise any of them. But it must've had something to do with the Scarlett driver updates too, because they were fine until then. Not a question. Just an observation. 😀
  10. @SPAKHey, thanks so much, Steve. I really appreciate your kind thoughts and words. Fact of the matter is I love my gear. It suits my budget and it sounds great to me. The arguments you heard a few months back about my not being satisfied with my gear all stems from a certain nameless person on this forum who just can't seem to review any of my songs without making a negative comment about my "samples". I just got so tired of it that I verbally "let him have it". He's probably is so pissed at me for doing so that he'll probably never comment on any of my songs again, but I really don't care. If he can't comment without attacking what I use I'd rather him not comment at all. We all have our preferences of what we use based on many factors (budget, satisfaction with sound, ease of use, etc). I really don't think it's cool to continuously remind somebody that you don't approve of their choice of equipment (virtual or otherwise). I tolerated it the first one or two times, but after that I lost it. It gets tiring after awhile. I use Toontrack for keys and drums. Hate me if you want if they're not classy enough for you Just don't listen or comment, but I know for a fact that there are several Toontrack users hanging on these forums. It's like you said, Steve, a good song works, no matter what. I respect everybody else's choice of gear. I appreciate the same consideration from others. Rant over.😁😉 😀Cheer JB PS-If anybody wants to chime in with a problem with what I said above, as I say in this song "Even though we don't see eye to eye, we can agree to disagree". That's all I'm saying on the matter. I will not turn this song thread into a drama. 😀
  11. @Jesse Screed @emeraldsoul Thanks so much for checking this out, guys. The Randy Newman compare is kinda accurate, I do sound a bit like him, don't I? I always liked his song "Short People". 😀JB
  12. I can relate. I know a few people who love to throw all the gross details in my face. Where did you get those synth sounds? Are they in CbB or did you buy them? Great tune. 😀John B
  13. Sounds like a combo of Dylan's voice meeting the composing styles of Frank Zappa and Edgar Varese. Interesting mix. 😀John B
  14. @freddy jThanks so much, Freddy! 😊JB
  15. Love this! I don't know how much more professional you could make this. Every aspect of it is already top notch. 😀John B
  16. @daryl1968Thanks for listening, Daryl. 😀John B
  17. Another Freddy goodie. Especially like your harmony and background vocals. 😀John B
  18. Quite a bit to listen to here. I really enjoy the variations on the melody against different backgrounds. Juicy piano parts around 4:20. 😀John B
  19. Never mind. I found out how. 😊JB
  20. I just acquired a collection of raw MIDI chord files. Is there any way I can get them into the Browser for easy access (Drag & Drop)? Thanks John B.
  21. Cancer is scary. I pray for your fast and complete recovery. 😊John B
  22. Nice poppy tune. I can identify with the lyrics for sure. I could imagine a harmony line in that guitar intro line. 😊John B
  23. @Douglas KirbyGarritan Jazz & Big Band. Thanks! 😊JB
  24. @bjornpdx@amiller Thank you, Bjorn & A Miller. 😀JB
  25. Sorry I missed this, Paul and I hope you had a great holiday season. Very nice tune with great instrumental work and harmonies. I also like the message. 😊John B.
