  1. I would look no further than a plug in. In most cases i've run across, it's a plug in holding up the save. You can try disabling all plug ins using the Control module "press E" Try a test save and see if this cuts down on time. In theory this should work. But i'm not sure if the plug in itself must be removed from the FX bin to attain total bypass for this test to work.
  2. Most write ups i've read about Sonar and Bandlab seem to come from a user who has installed it and used it for 15 minutes. They seem to complain of features they googled vs. something they've actually tried. I think each DAW offers its own unique set of tools and while some may offer more features in some areas and focus more on certain things, i believe we can all agree that a DAW is much like a shoe. Some of them fit us better than others. I honestly believe we are musicians for a reason, we are drawn to music in some way from an early age. Daw's are really no different, we are drawn to a certain DAW for a reason. Sometimes its because of convenience, possibly the first DAW we used so we are content with knowledge we already have in our bag.
  3. I swear there was something posted here a while back about turning off hardware acceleration. Thus the reason i asked about the video card. Check this out though, it might help http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013377/Faders-and-Knobs-Do-Not-Move-Smoothly
  4. This feature was added around 7 months ago https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=NewFeatures.32.html
  5. Hey no problem man. Typically when problems are centered around one project and not others, it's all about Cakewalk forensics. Has happened to me as well in the past.
  6. If its only in one project, then i would look for project specific clues. - A plug in. Is there a plug in you are using in this project that you don't have in any of your other projects ? - Does this project have a different sample rate then the others that are working fine ?
  7. It could be a display issue. What kind of video card do you have ?
  8. They are part of "Ease of Access" feature in Windows.
  9. Workspaces used to be called Lenses. They are basically the same thing. So for all intents and purposes, lets just call them Workspaces for now. Workspaces and Screensets are different in the fact that Workspaces are much deeper and more importantly.. Global. What does "Global mean" ? It means that it runs from project to project. You can set up Workspaces like a template of sorts to open with each project. Screensets are not global and are minimal compared to Workspaces. Screensets can save layouts, Zoom positions, exc but workspaces can save Control bar module set up, Keyboard shortcuts, exc. I voiced my concern early when this idea was presented by Cakewalk (Actually it was in the Sonar edition when Lenses was introduced) and i refused to use Lenses because it was too confusing. But after i got a good look at its potential, i was blown away by its ability to customize very fine details of workflow from project to project without having to spend anytime on set up work, which is sometimes half the battle when creating projects. As much as i love Workspaces and its potential, it can be a little confusing. But almost any softwares most powerful features usually are because they are deep in features and require learning. My advice to solve your problem would be to load another Workspace with the default "None". Then make small changes, saving one at a time as you go. It will be helpful so you don't paint yourself into a corner, not realizing what went wrong (all at once). For now, avoid screensets when creating new Workspaces so you know... if something goes wrong, it's not related to screensets. That's just another issue to try and figure out what went wrong.
  10. Those are your hardware (soundcard/USB) Buses. You might have either... A- Accidentally deleted the bus. B- The bus may be hidden (go to Console View, Strips-> Track Manager).
  11. Just took a listen bob, your right it does sound just like TV static. I would try disabling all plug ins (the FX module to bypass all of them). This will at least rule out a plug in problem. TBH, this does sound a lot like a plug in in demo mode. Some of them give off bursts of white noise. Almost sounds like the possibility of a bad cable as well. How are you mixing ? What kind of sound device/Audio interface are you using ?
  12. Id also like to add that, this is your feature request, I really hope I didn't sound like I disapprove or anything. Sometimes I can sound rather blunt in this feedback section. You have every right to request what ever feature you want.
  13. After using Pro Audio and Sonar for almost 10 years, I joined the Cakewalk forums in 2011. Karl was one of the first members I interacted with. The drop box PDF's are for his videos for SWA  You tube. An amazing 4 hour course on the in's and out's of Cakewalk.
  14. They should already be installed if you downloaded everything from the Bandlab app. If the plug in doesn't show up in FX... You may have to install more than the core package of cakewalk. Use the Install Add on option in the Bandlab app There are a few really good amp/cab combo's in TH3 that are heavy as H ! Totally geared towards Dime's sound. not sure if those cabs are unlocked but you'll get a good ballpark idea. This is a great way to get ideas down and also get some really good recordings. As I said, I always mic my amps/cabs but that isn't always an option and this is where Guitar amp VST's really thrive.
  15. Ya the one that comes with Cakewalk, TH3 by Overloud. I personally prefer others but this one is free and happens to be included with Cakewalk so the continence undeniable .
  16. That's the strange thing about recording vs. playing live. Don't be afraid to dial back a little bit of the pre gain volume. Set it up like you want it, then dial it back. It removes the sizzle and harshness that comes with over drive. A pre amp really does do a great job in the front end of a recording on electric guitars. I've been using one for years and recently switched over the ISA ONE. Its almost as if it acts like an active pick up. real gritty and soaring. Let me know how this works out for you and I'd love to hear it when its done.
  17. A few of these things are already available in Cakewalk. - Tempo Tap is located in the Insert>Tempo change command https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR X3&language=3&help=Dialogs2.116.html - Mouse wheel will change fader volume if you click on that fader. - Crass fades can be made by grabbing the upper end of the clip (if thats what you mean). Im not even sure what to say about this. Inspector module or the tab to use the PC fly out. Select tracks, hold down CNTRL+Clik PC tab There are a lot of features within Cakewalk. might help to google a few of these things to make sure they are not already there. It would save time on this list and possibly help you out in the long run.
  18. I can totally respect this theory. but can you give us a good reason why turning down the master bus wont work just as well ? A feature request can take time to program and even expose bugs, would it be worth that for something as easy as pulling down the master bus ? I do gain staging on every mix. And i often run to the same issue you do. I'm constantly turning down faders within the course of mixing. I do this typically before any automation, Grabbing CTRL+all tracks selected makes it easy to adjust all at once. But i still end up having to adjust my Master bus fader after automation. I hope it doesn't sound like i'm taking a dump on your feature request, just hoping to help you out in the meantime. The Master Bus will control all tracks even after gain staging is complete.
  19. I didn't take this as a new Cakewalk feature. He's referring to the new pro tools aux folder feature that was announced at 2020 NAMM. https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/home-page/2020/1/15/avid-pro-tools-2020-to-have-the-most-requested-feature-folder-tracks Cakewalk staff doesn't let secrets out, you should know that
  20. When I hear the word "pulsating" I can only think of one thing... Compression. More importantly, when I hear the words "White noise" I come to another conclusion... A plugin in "Demo mode". Got any plug ins on these tracks that are a free trial ?
  21. I mean im pretty good at visual inspections but even my bionic eye can differentiate a 0.1 db. This is the way to go... It will mark the highest peak with a flag.
  22. You need to have Melodyne installed (base version that was available with Sonar Platinum will do). I will say this though, if your looking to get a tempo from a previously sketched midi/audio track, you can always use the tap tempo function and lay out the song similarly. This is what I do for old 4 track songs recorded that I need to reconstruct. Go through bridge, verse, chorus, exc and tap out tempos, write them down then lay out the song.
  23. A gate will help with the noise issue though. There is one in the pro channel modules. Its not great but does the job. Im a tone seeker, always have been, looking for the ultimate tone and will keep doing so. I have sets of Amp heads and speakers, ranging from V30s, greenbacks, eminence red coats, exc. I have stacks, 1x12's, combos, exc. Micing the cab is always the best route. plug ins are good for getting ideas down and sometimes, with the proper pre amps (I use a Focusrite ISA ONE) boost the tone before its input. Not always practical though in a small bedroom I understand. Possibly the reason I answered your post and not many have, because ive fought the noise war using high gain amps, plug ins for years and I know what its like. The di is a good idea because of the ground lift options, but your interface has a DI built in. What you don't want to do is run line in to line in. using the mic pre amp through an XLR cable will help as long as the pre amp options on your interface are set up correctly.
