  1. "I myself have never really used the metronome much. " One of the most useful functions of the metronome is the lead in. I use it on almost every recording I make. Midi or audio. It great when punching in the middle of the song as I don't actually use the punch in function.
  2. Seems the easier way would be to just create a click using say SI - Drums loop it out (Ctrl-L) , drag it out & freeze it. You can do do all kinds of customization too using different drum parts & volume adjustments.
  3. Make a backup copy of the file first. Tap a quarter note midi pulse on another track Use Fit improvisation Set Tempo to the average of the result Quantize Fix the stuff that didn't work by dragging it around. Sometimes you may need to drag pieces to fit to the bar line. Split the clip where you need to. You may want to disable the snap while you are splitting clips and enable it while you drag them, for shortcut use-(N). Mostly I spilt and move the remainder from that point on because that's most likely the way it will fall anyway. This can work. I have made it work but it is still better to play to a metronome if that's what you want in the end. You might want to look at the documentation for a better description than I have given.
  4. * You can freeze everything that can be frozen. That can help. * You might be able to find a built in sound like TTS that has less delay than the sound you are using and change it back after you record. * If your keyboard has sounds, monitor the keyboard not the computer sound, then deal with timing issues after the record. (maybe drag entire clip back to near beat before quantize) * I mostly use external hardware to avoid delays, even small delays can wreck the feel of what you are playing. * Sometimes if Microsoft is updating in the background this can cause delays
  5. I have always thought it would be nice to have an option for the date to be the default name.
  6. There are three types of USB connectors A,B & C. I just picked up a hard drive that uses the third kind on both ends of the cable. So you could say that this drive works from C to C.
  7. I was playing keys at home tonight and I accidentally brushed across the Gb. It was in the key of F so it sounded terrible. In other words I guess you could say I F'd Up.
  8. Pitch change is really iffy, best done in a very limited way. Sometime I copy a chorus part and create melodyne harmonies. The thing is though, if you use midi to test your song you can make any key change you want. Then if you are a live sounds kind of guy you have something solid you can start adding tracks to in the key & with the tempo you want.
  9. You may have sysex in your track from musescore which I think it does do. If it was me I would eliminate all the sysex from the musescore tracks and use cakewalk to select the sounds you want. It will also give you more flexibility to change them later if you want.
  10. I have a harmony program that requires Ilok. I haven't used the program since I changed machines - many moons ago. I just don't need more hassles.
  11. My wife says that when I find the tens I should get it on. Unfortunately she was talking about the eletro-stim unit I use for my aching back.
  12. We had a bit of a kitchen accident. We accidently dropped a bunch of resistors in the eggs. We ended up with an ohmlette.
  13. There are a few advantages to staff view. * If you have set the key for the song it easy to scan through to see if there are any accidentals that should not be there. * If you have improvised a part it's easier to set up the chord structure to your improv - I use the arranger track while viewing the staff. But I agree timing is far easier to adjust in PRV.
  14. It's also great on bass parts that you want to sound full and continuous. Pedal & Solo on for the whole song. It's a pain when the search back doesn't work though if you do any editing on the track, But fine if you play it straight through.
  15. Thank you I appreciate you checking that out.
  16. I bought a midi guitar years ago, gave up quickly. It just can't pick up the flavor. Bends & slides just don't work right. I'm not sure I ever got the thing adjusted right but even straight playing never did all that well. I also found melodyne with live guitar more workable. Even that usually leaves me with a lot of editing to do. I prefer using a keyboard now, I generally only play leads on guitar now. Good luck.
  17. Still not functioning as expected on CC 126 - Solo on my MX-88.
  18. I like Xpand2! it does not work in all of my files but when it does it has some nice full sounds.
  19. Keep in mind if you haven't already that if the high E in your case is not played for that particular chord then it won't play for the midi record either. Check out the chords and what strings are enabled for each. Not every string plays on every chord. I haven't actually noticed that problem but then I haven't looked too hard either. I do think this program is really a great one to get the ball rolling on a song.
  20. Thanks for pointing me in that direction. I could disable zero controllers when play stops, still I think I remember a search back function that would look for the most recent CC changes as play re-starts. There are times when you want both - especially with pedal events. I do think you are referencing Midi Chase back though, Per the reference for midi event chase on play: "If this option is enabled, Cakewalk searches for and sends the most recent patch change, wheel, and pedal events on each output and MIDI channel before starting playback. This ensures that all these settings are correct, even if you start playback at an arbitrary point in your project." This seems to miss both volume & CC that are not wheel & pedal events. If this description is inclusive.
  21. Some delays can be fixed with quantize. Or in extreme cases moving the entire midi recording slightly then quantizing. I have a drum pad that for some reason records everything a bit late to midi. I have to move by hand everything back before quantize.
  22. No, somehow I ended up with someone who doesn't really care much for music. Crazy.....I know.
  23. I am having problems with inserted control changes in the track as well as volumes entered in the Track view settings. I can no longer find the setting for CC search back. I believe I saw somewhere that it was now the default behavior. It is not working if that is the case. Otherwise - is there still a setting for this ? Example: I have entered a pedal down & a solo CC at the beginning of a track sent to my MX-88. Every time I stop the play to edit I lose the settings on restart. I have to manually perform these CC just to get the playback to sound correctly on restart every time. In addition to that the volume changes do not always follow the settings either.
