  1. FYI; the only version that will still authorize is 2023.09.075 AFAIK. The auth servers for previous versions have been taken offline.
  2. I had the activation toast pop up yesterday, it said "activation complete" and faded out in about 5 seconds.
  3. It's Mackie MCU compatible under Windows, so install it as a control surface using the Mackie template.
  4. We're in the midst of the sixth mass extinction on the planet... why sweat the small stuff?😁
  5. You asked about the pad sound on the fade-up intro to "Another Day in Paradise", just before the stick cliks enter.
  6. On the original album release and support tour, one of the pads (they are layered) just before the sticks start the click were done on a 1990 tour with an Oberheim OB-8. (I knew the keyboard tech from those days.) That airy pad is pretty easy to emulate with any other modern synth.
  7. Try it with and without the "Disable Handshake" setting ticked in the Mackie Control preferences page (as posted above).
  8. I rarely have anything 'hang', but if you have clean memory, Kontakt/UVI/VSL Syncron/Komplete Kontrol can take a few (5-15) seconds to load and initialize without any instruments loaded on a new project, but reloading the same project or even a new project is inevitably faster because they are already cached. Never bothers me, cuz I know what is in ram at the time. If I'm changing from one huge project to another in the same studio date, I will flush my ram between sessions with a batch file, and I always expect the load to take maybe 20-30 seconds anyway. No biggie in my world.
  9. <Preferences><Audio><Devices> needs to have both an INPUT device selected and an OUTPUT device selected. The preferred device needs to be set as the timing masters in <Preferences><Audio><Driver Settings> as Playback/Record Timing Masters.
  10. Check in <Preferences><Customization><Editing> that all the settings are as you desire. Also check the status of <Ripple All> command in the upper right corner of the Track View. Explanations for these settings/functions are covered in the Help system or the PDF Manual.
  11. Without at least one autosave version available, you are probably out of luck. I've only had that happen a few times in 30 years, and never got the files back from the original.
  12. Here's an old article written by one of our own bakers; https://noelborthwick.com/2017/04/20/wireless-audio-and-midi-in-sonar/ It gets pretty deep into the weeds, but may supply some information for you. It appears as though UWP was built mostly to bridge Bluetooth devices to the Win kernal so that they could be used in a DAW as a native device. MME is legacy, but if your MIDI devices operate correctly using it, then don't worry too much.
  13. These screenshots clearly show that your MIDI driver is set to MME, and your Audio Driver is using ASIO. They are two completely different things. Nothing to worry about.
  14. I was an adjunct marketing advisor for NI in 2017/18 on the development of the S series Mk2 keyboards (before the Venture Capital buyout) and I could forsee then that they were about to completely diverge from the direction that was common amongst their users. Real pity, they were really a stong market leader for a decade. When I got the preview of LoRes, I thought it was grossly underwhelming for a 70Gb library.
  15. Submit a ticket to NI Support and request that they send you a link to direct download the ISO. You could also search the NI forum, as a lot of K13/14 installers have been posted for folks who have slow/underperforming ISP's. Personally, I completely gave up on NI about a year ago. Their development direction sux.
  16. Since the release of 2022.06 there has been an option to use local help in conjunction/addition to the standard <Help><Documentation> menu item in the program. Local help is a preference function here: The only reason to really go to the legacy help system is if you need to compare/contrast some ancient function with what is current in the latest/last version of the program. The online help accessed from inside CbB <Help><Documentation> is actually as up to date as possible. There is also the PDF manual available (which is about 99% up to date) here: Personally I prefer to use CTRL-F to search the PDF, seems it's faster to get to the items that I want. YMMV
  17. This is true. However; over the past few years, when I installed a program update, I would occasionally incur an anomaly that changed some minor function in my application preferences that was difficult to find, troubleshoot and remedy even with nearly 3 decades of using the software. It was well documented on my end, but not reproducible elsewhere. I started to save screenshots of all the pages of my preferences for comparison, since there is no direct way to backup just the prefs. I sorta just blame the Sun for bombarding my hard drive with excess nutrinos at the exact moment of writing the update data. That's my Occam's Razor justification, and I'm stickin' with it. 😁
  18. This link works for me in 3 browsers on 2 different machines using the same logon as this forum: https://help.cakewalk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
  19. Here's what I get when I click on "Submit a Request": Maybe you should flush the cache from your browser.
  20. I have a ton of Track templates built, from a VSTi bass with FX applied. to full String Sections and Busses, along with my favorite drum kits all broken out into separate outputs, all available to insert with a couple of clicks. Once you get the hang of assembling a project this way, you'll rarely go back.
  21. I will first admit that, although I'm a channel subscriber, I'm not the worlds biggest fan of Rick Beato... I think that his 'abundance' of confidence of his abilities and opinions has a tendency to rub me the wrong way sometimes... but that is not to take away from his knowledge and intellect. That said, I found this interview with Andy Summers (The Police) to be really casual and funny. Kinda like having your grandpa sit on the porch in a rocking chair telling war stories.
  22. At the risk of being too 'highbrow', I'd like to put in a plug for an excellent podcast on this subject. I listen to this on long drives, in the hot tub, or doing yardwork, and have found it to be absolutely fascinating for anyone that desires to know where the genre comes from. Andrew Hickey covers all the bases. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/a-history-of-rock-music-in-500-songs/id1437402802
  23. But wait... isn't the bass your virtuoso instrument of choice? 🤔
  24. Years ago I bought his "Humbucker", which had a reasonable sound but marginal use in detailed work. Then I discovered Indiginus and Impact Soundworks, and I've never looked back. Andrea is a great guy to talk to though!
