  1. It depends on the program. I do not use foobar2000. It may not have the ability to run audio from the command line.
  2. Two conditions must be met for clips to load into a program added to the Utilities menu The Type field in the ToolsEditor must be set to WaveEditor and The program must accept a wav file as a command line argument. Sometimes this may require additional switches on the the program command line. These switches may be added to the Args entry in ToolEditor
  3. With audio programs make sure their setup does not conflict with the DAW. Also, it is not clear what "does not play" means. Play what, a clip from project, a project, an audio file loaded using the foobar UI.
  4. Probably best to keep all discussion about my tools in this thread Regarding adding foobar2000 - Any program may be added to the Utilities menu. If the program accepts a wav file as a command line argument, the clip may be passed to the program by setting the Type drop down in ToolEditor to WaveEditor. That said, I have not tested foobar2000 either as a Generic or WaveEditor type.
  5. Updated Launch Pad see OP for link New features a single key quick copy process to create hot backup for CbB (and SONAR Platinum). modify CbB version number in registry For those interesting in keeping their CbB update experience anxiety free, I highly recommend using this tool. The copy process makes it easy to keep an older version of CbB available after updating the to current release.
  6. @Morten Saether I see the files are not missing, They were not overwritten with the update. I just copied the help (EN dtd 7-31). The clip help shows up OK. I do not believe PC modules ever had help module entries.
  7. @Morten Saether if files are missing from the user directory holding down the SHIFT key while starting CbB should restore them. If the help files are not part of this process, they need to be added. This is the job of partial personalization.
  8. First determine which Multisamples folder DP is using by inspecting the registry. Personally, I try not to edit the registry leaving it with factory defaults and make adjustments to the filesystem with mklink. The choice of using a directory junctions is yours. So is the choice of using a graphical tool or mklink.exe. Given DP will likely never be released or updated, it really does not matter how one sets up the program. There is always a chance of sample duplication samples especially when copying instead of using the installers. DP also started out using wav files and converted to flac so it there is a chance of having the same sample in both formats. The only way to know for sure is look in the directories. There are some subtle differences between the wav and flac files but for most programs it does not matter.
  9. The DP programs folder is hard coded to "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Programs" The multisample folder is set in the registry key Multisamples Folder under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\dp. The default is "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Multisamples" Some older installers ignore the registry and always put samples in the default Multisamples folder. This is one reason to use a directory junction instead of changing the path in the registry to relocate samples for sfz engine synths like DP.
  10. The DP Program browser is not based on the Mutlisample folder, it is based on the contents of "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Programs" The DP Program browser may be rebuilt by pressing the F5 key. If that fails for some reason, manually removing "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Programs\programs.lst" forces DP to rebuild the program browser when DP starts up.
  11. Make sure the lens menu is set to None
  12. The DR videos from Cakewalk are here There are other videos on youtube.
  13. The drum replacer is not part of the core CbB install. It is on the Add-on menu under "Install Add-ons..." If Dr is installed here is how to use it
  14. What do you do about the messages today? Disabling in sound settings means Windows won't use the devices. Keeping the devices enabled in the Device Manager means OS still loads the drivers making them available for application like CbB. Disabling in the Device Manager should prevent CbB from finding the drivers.
  15. Sometimes the I/O buffer may be too large. Other times the condition is not addressed by altering the size of the audio buffer. http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Troubleshooting.19.html http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Troubleshooting.21.html
  16. z3ta+ is a VST that was ported to 64bit. Quite a few DX and VST plug-ins were ported to 64bit. There are a few VST plug-ins that were not ported to 64bit but there is bridge software available for them. Although, moving away from 32bit VST is still a good idea. 32bit DX plug-ins that were not ported to 64bit are a problem. There is no bridge available for 32bit DX format. The process to get these plug-ins to work in a 64bit host is flaky at best. I have not tried sending CC data to the z3ta+ FX plug-ins but all FX plug-ins that can use MIDI data require these 2 steps to setup for interactive use with a MIDI controller. 1) Enable MIDI Input on the plug-in's VST2/3 drop down in the standard header 2) A MIDI track with the output set to the plug-ins, input set to the controller and input echo enabled
  17. 16.12 GB seems more reasonable than the original value of 32.1 GB. Looks like most of the files are counted twice in the original value. 16GB is much closer to the other X-Series installers (at least the values you supplied, I have not bothered validate any of the numbers provided).
  18. yes, if "delete a project" means delete a project folder containing the project file and all the contents of the project folder. Renaming a project at the OS level is different than the "Save As" function. The "Save As" function creates a new project file and optionally creates a new project folder structure with a copy of the audio files referenced in the project.
  19. Please do not bother uploading full screen images. The forum imposes a 50MB quota on user image uploads and resizes large images making them almost illegible. To avoid image resize and the quota, place images on an image service such as imgur.com and embed links in your posts. It is normal for Cakewalk to show interface I/O as stereo pairs. This does not prevent using mono inputs. The audio track input drop down lists input something like this 1 - Left 1 - Right 1 - Stereo 3 - Left 3 - Right 3 - Stereo where 1 - Left is channel 1 of the interface 1 - Left is channel 2 of the interface 1 - Stereo are both channels 1 and 2 3 - Left is channel 3 of the interface 3 - Left is channel 4 of the interface 3 - Stereo are both channels 3 and 4 and so on The Zoom R16 setup guide is here
  20. It has been almost 15 years since Cakewalk introduced a 64bit DAW. At that time, some DX plug-ins were ported to the new platform, some were not. I am not going to waste my time or yours trying to get 32bit DX plug-ins from that time to work in CbB. I wish you luck with the exercise should you choose to continue. There are some that like this kind of challenge; I am not among them. If you have projects with these plug-ins in them, install a 32bit version of SONAR and either render the tracks or replace the plug-ins with something that can work going forward. Expecting projects created with XP era and older software to keep working as it did back in the day is setting oneself up for disappointment.
  21. Beatscape came with ~5GB of samples. The synth was bundled with X1 then discontinued. While the synth was dropped the sample library was repacked as "Loops and One Shots." This is the only synth sample content that is duplicated in X-Series SONAR. All the other sample based synths are overwritten by each install. One should install just the Beatscape Factory Library OR "Loops and One Shots" as they contains the same ~5GB of samples. The difference is how the samples are organized. The Beatscape Factory Library is organized by BPM, the "Loops and One Shots" are organized by instrument. Beatscape as a synth had problems that were never resolved as the result the synth was dropped. Unless the synth was left in old projects, it may be a good idea to uninstall it rather than keep it around on the chance it may be useful in the future. If you do not plan to use the synth, it is safe to uninstall. "Loops and One Shots" from X2 will still be available from the media browser. Again, this is unique in the X-Series. No other synths install duplicate libraries (unless you managed to instruct the installers to use non-default locations which I am not sure is possible). When upgrading from one version of SONAR to another most of the files overwrite existing files. IOW, installing X1 then X2 does not take up anywhere near 32.1 Gb + 15.4Gb (assuming your numbers are correct and I think X1 is a little high - I did not bother with performing a full X1 install instead opting for an advanced install of a couple of plug-ins - the X2 and X3 numbers look more reasonable). Installing X3 over X2 is not 15.4Gb +13 Gb. A full X3 upgrade on X2 takes a little more than 1GB and most of that are optional tutorials and sample projects. Install full versions X1 Producer through X3 producer is nothing close to 60GB. Deleting plug-ins from one X-Series install means it is removed from all of them. Just like what you already experienced with Studio Instruments. The tutorials and sample projects bundled with the X-Series are safe to delete and return most of the disk space not shared by all X-Series installs. By default the tutorials and sample projects are installed in each versions "Cakewalk Content" folder. For example, assuming a default X2 Producer install look in "C:\Cakewalk Content\SONAR X2 Producer" for a folder called "Tutorial Projects."
  22. I am guessing this is about a DX-to-VST wrapped plug-in. AFAIK, the compressor does not work with the dxshell wrapper. I doubt BandLab will support dxshell wrapped plug-ins in any DAW. Feel free to contact support@cakewalk.com. There is no reason to use the wrapped plug-ins in CbB or any other DX host. Forget about using Sonitus compressor in anything other than a DX host.
  23. The only VST versions of Sonitus plug-ins were 32bit and never bundled with any Cakewalk DAW. They were available as a separate purchase and Cakewalk stopped selling the suite that include the 32bit VST format years ago. The 64bit DX Sonitus Suite is bundled with CbB
