  1. So I am trying to compose music in my free time, and I have chosen Cakewalk. I have several samples (.ogg and .wav) for instruments, and I want to use them to make sounds. I had experimented this with another Daw - LMMS, and the samples work perfectly there in accord to the midi information, though LMMS lacks in mixing and synthesizing options, which is why I decided with CbB, as it looks quite... complex... so I thought it would be better in mixing etc. I have loaded the samples into the "media" tab in Cakewalk now, but when I drag it in, it shows the "audio" track, not a midi track, like how it is in LMMS. I tried creating a "midi track" and then dragging the .ogg/.wav on that, but then the piano roll does show up, but with no sound. How do I create a working midi with samples? I have unsuccessfully browsed every possible thing that could give me the answer... with no luck. I understand, from whatever I read, this has something to do with samplers and stuff I don't know how to do. So can someone please explain me how to do it? Thanks in advance...

  3. Hello everyone, I'm using the latest 64-bit Bandlab Cakewalk on Windows 10, and I'm getting a crackling sound when playing 32-bit VST instruments loaded via BitBridge in 64-bit SONAR, it sounds just like if the ASIO buffer size was set too low on my audio interface... But the 64-bit VST instruments sound just fine, the problem only occurs with 32-bit plugins loaded with BitBridge! My buffer settings are OK, the rest of the audio sounds good. Very important to note : I've had this same problem with multiple audio interfaces (Focusrite Scarlett, Steinberg UR), and also with my previous Cakewalk version, SONAR X2 64-bit. I tried fiddling with the BitBridge server configuration and plug-in properties but no avail, and frankly I couldn't see any setting that relating to latency. Please help!
  4. Hello, im new in this forum so if I post in a wong category or something I apologize. And I also do for my probably not so great englisch. I have a little problem, or rather a question. Cakewalk is finally running again after a complete new Install of windows with new harddrives, but now Cakewalk drags my Instruments into my Track verly verly slowly, They kinda get pulled after and behind my mouse cursor. But once I stop moving my mouse cursor they catch up pretty fast. Is that something that got update in the meantime? Is it suppose to be like that now? are there any settings that could fix this? It feels really wierd. Im still pretty used to drag my instuments and effects into the tracks. everything else is running normally I think. Maybe highlighting things to delete or copy is a bit slower, not rly sure tho. My HDD load is fine and my RAM usage is around 30%. My pc is pretty fast but it could be the HDD. It didnt do it before tho on the same HDD. Anyone any Ideas? Thank you very much for taking your time. Best wishes
  5. Hi. Is there an easy way to assign a knob to a vst plugin? I mean, like in FL studio you have the option to browse all the paramaters available for a vst or plugin in the browser folder or inspector, and also the standard option to right-click a button and learn the knob you want to assign. However most of my plugins doesn't work with the standard way to learn the knob button to be assignable. So, Is there a folder or part where I can have access to all available parameters for a vst/plugin? i.e. The native Cakewalk instruments like Electric piano it doesn't comes with the option to assign the knob to control some parameters such as Drive, Tune, etc at least that's what I've seen imo. I mean, I know the standard way to assign knobs but I want to have another way to access to the full list of available parameters and link them like in FL studio Global link parameters or the "last tweaked" function . Thanks in advance!
  6. Hi guys, So my cakewalk crashes with the code c0000005 when I try to load a song, I opened it in safe mode and one track is corrupted, although there are several tracks of the same VST I used for that sound. If I would delete that track in safe mode, all of my fx would be gone, so how can I solve this problem? Thanks in advance! Lofi.cwp
  7. Since I started my channel on Youtube doing Cakewalk Videos this has been my number one question?....🤔 How did you install that VST?.. So I made a video... Hope this helps people out....😄

  9. Hello I have sound output when I load a demo song. I also have sound output when I choose the GSM piano. But when I choose a plug in out of the synthesizer rack, it doesn’t matter if it’s one that came with cakewalk or a third-party plug-in, my loudspeaker remain silent. I can see that the plug in is receiving midi notes as there are lights blinking on the screen but no sound output. Can anyone help a newbie? Thanks.
  10. My setup: OS: Windows 10 Pro Interface: Behringer U-Phoria UMC404HD CbB Version: 2020.09 (Build 006, 64 bit) Other Software: MuseScore Making Study/Recording Guides of my arrangements for my Christmas Caroling group. I use MuseScore for notation to give my singers the sheet music. Export the file as Standard MIDI. I open the MIDI file in Cakewalk, add 2 MIDI tracks, one for metronome (I like to use the woodblocks voice in the TTS-1) and another for starting pitch. Then I add two instances of the TTS-1 because this particular arrangement as a VOX percussion track and I like to it separate from the metronome track to place these in different spaces in the stereo field. I add a stereo bus I rename Master, since there is no bus when the file is opened and change the output of both instances of the TTS-1 to Master Save the file and close Open the file back up, bus is gone and any instrument-audio track is gone, and any TTS-1 MIDI track with the DIN icon is muted, but still there. So I have to add all of them again, each time I reopen the file. I searched the forums and found somewhere (I can't remember where otherwise I'd thank the poster) that if you continue with no MIDI outputs that Cakewalk will automatically populate the file with an instrument-audio track using the TTS-1. I tried that and it added the track using the TTS-1 and manually added a second instrument-audio track using the TTS-1, added a Bus and waved the file. Opened the file again, Cakewalk populated TTS-1 track was there, manually added TTS-1 track and Master Bus were gone. I also tried the issues using both ASIO4All and then the Behringer ASIO Driver and settings and same results each time. More searching showed a lot of posts by @msmcleod saying the issue isn't resolved because developers can't replicate it and to tag @Noel Borthwick . I'll make my project available if it helps resolve the issue. Jim
  11. Link to my post yesterday. The shift-key solution suggested a day ago worked pretty well, my projects opened smoothly, no pop up or lack of sound or whatever. But just now, the problem is at it again and this pop-up appears when I try to open it. And it's even worse When I press Yes to All, the program closes itself again. When I press No to All, the program opens, but all the MIDI tracks I already programmed/made don't make a sound. Note that when I add new tracks though, they still make sound. But I don't want to start from square one, and have this problem roll around again the next day. It seems like a VST/plugin problem considering the way my projects open when I choose No to All in the pop -up. But I want to know, what on earth screws up in the system when I open projects some time after working with them? I opened this project twice yesterday (1 PM, 11 PM) and there was no issue, but more than 18 hours later (right now it's 6 PM) it's stubborn again. This is so frustrating. I don't want to do this every time I want to work on my projects.
  12. It would be very helpful to have a global FX latency meter/analyzer, which would have an option to disable/enable/bypass specific FX globally (all instances) for specific task to reduce latency. For example if I want a specific plugin to kick in only on playback... Or if I want the plugin to be present and set in the bin so it is ready for mixdown or audition, but so it does not affect audio engine latency (bypass) and more. Similar to "global" FX on/off button... but selective for particular plugins. I hope I am making sense. I do not know the depth of knowledge behind the processes, just a user opinion. Including a primitive drawing in attachment of how I see it.
  13. Hi everyone, I'm new to Cakewalk and starting my learning, have a question, i have a vst with different sounds on it, birds, rain, thunder, etc. Also has the capacity to pan the different sounds. I made a recording but in the end it only recorded one single sound, plane, no variations, no panning, no effects. Where should i go to set this so in one track, it could be possible to hear all the combinations of a single vst. The plugin i'm using is Serenity by Quiet Music Thanks
  14. Hello, I am new of using Cakewalk Sonar Platinum. Well so, My question about VST plugin called Luxonix Purity. I haven't experienced this before, I don't have MIDI external controller yet. How I can apply the instruments/presets/effects/etc from the Purity to MIDI file? Is there a procedure of it? Thanks!
  15. Hello there. I have a some issues with loading up SINE player By orchestral tools as A VST on CAKEWALK. It used to work fine but because I accidently deleted it before, I had to reinstall it and then I began to see problems. I tried to uninstall and reinstall my vsts of LAYERS, and SINE player multiple times but it just doesn't work and keeps having the same problems. So whenever I load up a new project and just add in a new track and choose SINE player It loads up most of the time (although atm it keeps freeezing and not responds to anything i do with it when I load it up. It also makes CAKEwalk not work and freeze too when it loads up too) and whenever I try to load up one of the Virtual instruments that come with the LAYERS package that I have with SINE and it just freezes and not responds and forces cakewalk to not respond aswell. I tried to move the sine player folder that stores my VSTs from my user folder to my VSTplugins folder that has most to all my vst i use and when I opened up it froze and then asked me to login to my ORCHESTAL TOOLS account. I then did and it just froze. so I had to just close cakewalk with the task manager. I tried to open cakewalk and SINE PLAYER again and I opened up SINE and I saw I didnt need to login again. I tried to load up my vsts but it just froze and not responeded along with cake walk and I had to close it with the task manager again. I did nothing else beyond that recently regarding SINE and its VSTS. whenever I try to open up sine player standalone without cakewalk it seems to freeze and not respond after I try to load up a virtual instrument with it later loading up just fine after 5 - 30 seconds or (even more) with it then showing a blue loading bar in the top right corner to show (what i think) that the instrument is loading its sound files . then later when and when I try to use the specific instrument in SINE after it disappears it then works fine (this is when I load up 1 instrument when I first open SINE player). when I remove the instrument that was just loaded I then load up another one or the same one, it either freezes like last time and then loads up the blue bar or just loads up with the blue bar without the freezing and then loads up the instrument. the blue bar can load up to more than 5-20 seconds at a time. If anyone knows a solution to this Id be very grateful.
  16. For starters, life long (+20 year) user of all things Sonar/Cakewalk/CbB. I really want to continue using this DAW. In the last year or so, I have invested in using more 3rd party plug-ins and CbB has handled most of them fairly well. For the most part, the DAW has been stable with the occasional hang/freeze/crash, which I can manage with a simple restart, nothing being lost per se. Here is what I'm working with at the moment: OS: Windows 8.1 64 bit Processor: Intel Quad Core i5 3.0 RAM: 16BG Drives: C drive for OS & Apps, SSD for recordings, projects, and samples Interface: Roland Studio Capture VSTs: All legal, non pirated On April 9th of this year, I purchased EW Hollywood Pop Brass (HPB). While I don't have insane amounts of RAM or SSD drives, what I had seemed to be serviceable. About a month into having it, I created a project using one instance of the plug-in, with multiple channels used. I began noticing that when I would try to open the project again, I started running into crashes/fatal errors that would prevent opening the project. Interestingly enough, any other projects that did not have HPB in it would open fine. Generally, I try to steer away from using VST's as I already have solid analogue gear/traditional instruments/mics, but the efficiency, ease, and quality of recording of VST's has increasingly been a go-to factor. Today, I reached a breaking point. I can barely get into any project that has HPB in it without multiple crashes It is completely arbitrary if I can get in; there is no set way to pull up a file anymore (administrator, opening up a file without HPB, then trying to open up a file with HPB). I searched and came up with this forum post from last year that seemed really similar to what I was going through (https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/topic/2077-big-problem-cakewalk-closes-when-i-load-my-orchestral-template/). After reviewing, I not only deleted and re-installed the Studio Capture (and Juno-Gi) drivers, but I also updated the PLAY Software to 6.1.9 (the latest). That yielded the same results: more and the same fatal error crashes. Here is a link on Google Drive with a visual and just ONE of the 25 fatal crash minidumps in the last four days: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1vGb7m4kQ-fNbuMuGZE8NsTC-Iq8Cjnwl?usp=sharing Finally, I'm literally months away (depending on how crazy this gets, maybe days away) from doing a complete workflow upgrade, hardware and software. I don't want to be negative toward any particular aspect of the process chain here but I rarely hear of these types of issues with other pairings, specifically with higher end interfaces/other industry standard DAWs. I am planning on moving to a UA/Mac workflow, with the hopes (even the tinniest) that CbB would try to have a Mac version (I know, wishful thinking). Not to ramble, but I know the interface while solid seems to have some issues with stability, but if there is any chance that there is something with CbB that is also adding to the problem then hopefully I can get that worked out. It just seems odd that after everything I threw at my seven year old PC/interface pairing that all of sudden now here comes EW and I have major access problems. Any help, perspective, or tips would be so much appreciated. I can't stress enough how much I've enjoyed and relied on Sonar/Cakewalk over the years, so it would suck if this would be the parting shot to an alternative. Thanks folks! :)
  17. Hello all, I'm a new user (just downloaded the program today) and I'm hoping to get some guidance on a workflow that will work for me. I compose music for concert band and orchestra. I typically use the program MuseScore to compose the sheet music. In the past, I've simply exported the MP3 audio directly from MuseScore to create audio renderings of my pieces. The audio quality is ... just OK, at best. However, I recently bought the EastWest Hollywood Orchestra VST to improve the sound quality, and I downloaded Cakewalk as a way to play the EastWest sounds I bought. I'm not looking to record audio in Cakewalk at all (either with live instruments or a MIDI keyboard. I don't even have a MIDI keyboard). What I'd really like to do is to be able to export a MIDI file from the notation program MuseScore, import it into Cakewalk, and assign / "plug in" the EastWest instruments to each respective MIDI track in Cakewalk to make a good rendering. I just can't figure out how to do this on my own, and I'm just itching to get started. Thanks in advance for any help! Much obliged.

Order VSTi 's in Synth Rack

I mostly use Cakewalk for MIDI with VSTi's. I last used SONAR 9 about 10+ years ago, and just started with Bandlab's Cakewalk. Two things that bug me are (which may be me not knowing how to do it): 1. I can have 10+ vsti's in the synth rack, so I would like to manually order them. I cannot find anyway to change their order after they have been added. How do I change the VSTI's order in synth rack? For example, I may wish to keep all the string section next to each other, and away from the percussion synths. 2. I have a LOT of duplication in my synth rack where I have used the same VSTi more than once. An example would be SFZ to load a soundfont. For each part with a different soundfont, I have a separate VSTi. However, when I double click on one to open the config page for that VSTi, they ALL say "sfx". There is NO differentiation regarding the actual name I have assigned. So I have to make sure I remember which one I am editing/configuring. Gets confusing when they are all SFZ, and a number are a part of a string section.
  19. I am using the Grace VST, and even with the sample preview turned on, it isn't making any noise at all. I actually can't even figure out how to hear what I am doing to the selected sample at all either. I also tried the TX16Wx VST and no sound came from that either, leading me to believe that the problem is in Cakewalk. I do get noise from the TTS-1 though, so I really don't know what is going on here.

  21. Hello everyone, I have question for those using Kontakt here. I'm working on a multi-instrumental track and I've loaded all the different instruments and patches into one instance of Kontakt 6 - so one synth with 11 output tracks . Is it possible to create a separate automation line for each track and with each instrument loaded into Kontakt, or does the automation work only per synth (in this case 1) ? Can't figure it out and it seems that there's not much support available about this case. Thanks in advance for your help !

  23. My VST plugins (approx. 2,100) need some organizing in Cakewalk using Cakewalk's Plugin Manager. But I will need to do the same for Cubase. Is there any way I can use my organization in Cakewalk in Cubase (or vice versa) so i don't need to do the same thing twice in both DAW software? Is there any third party software tools that will assist with the process?
  24. Hello, Edit: 23 March 2019 I decided it could be helpful to include a list of upcoming tutorial videos and their links. The video below is the first video in the playlist, but if you are interested in a specific topic, check the following list for quick navigation. If there is no link for it yet, it means I haven't uploaded it. I can take requests, but keep in mind that I run another business on top of my actual Chernobyl Studios audio work, so if I like the idea, it'll get put on the list and I'll get to it when I get to it. I have a channel on YouTube that I created many years ago for creating Cakewalk SONAR Platinum tutorials. I constantly get questions, comments, and requests on those old videos I did years ago. I'm updating all of the Cakewalk videos I did for SONAR Platinum to Cakewalk by Bandlab. There are three videos currently online, with 4 more already scheduled to come out this week. Please share this playlist with anybody who is getting started with Cakewalk by Bandlab. I am starting from the very basics and will work all the way through mixing an entire song. It will take a few weeks, but it will be worth it. 😎
