If the devices do not have a way to set which MIDI notes they send or you just want to do it CbB look at drum maps and the Transpose MFX. Both can create MIDI translation tables.

It is not an instrument, it is an effect - an ampsim like TH3. I prefer to download plug-ins directly from the maker. In this case, I grabbed AXP_Flextron_DC14_1_0_03.zip from http://www.soft-amp.com/flextron I put AXP Flextron x64.dll in my scan path. The plug-in scanned OK and is in my Uncategorized effects plug-ins.

Some plug-ins made with SynthEdit try to write into the folder where the plug-in is installed. Normally modern Windows OSes do not allow regular users to write into "C:\Program Files." There are a few ways to deal with plug-ins that write into their install folder: Install the plug-ins in an area that does not require elevated privileges. Some create a folder off the root (ex: C:\VST32) for these plug-ins Some modify the permissions of the the folder in Program Files Some run the DAW as administrator. Sometimes this only needs to happen once for a SynthEdit plug-ins so that it can unpack the files in the dll.

It is no big deal. Just think it would be a better idea if all the questions related to my tools were in one thread. Right now there is no mention of the thread in the ToolsEditor help or readme. This will be fixed in the next release.

A master bus is never necessary. That said, having a master bus in most cases is very useful. Using the automatic TTS-1 mapping feature causes all MIDI tracks to be routed to TTS-1 then to a single audio track. This audio track is effectively the master. Once a user decides to add additional audio/instrument tracks adding a master bus is a good idea. Maybe BandLab should add some logic to CbB adding an optional dialog recommending a master bus when it detects more than one audio/instrument track in a project that lacks a master bus.

The best way is the one that works for you. Here is a post I made earlier about plug-in install paths I prefer to force VST2 plug-ins into C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\VSTPlugins in folders by manufacturer. I do the same with VST3 except using C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 as the root. This was more important years ago when reliable sorting options in the DAW were limited. I still like to keep plug-ins in manufacturer folders because it is easier for me to see what is happening in Windows Explorer. That said, there are a limited number of places manufacturers use to install their plug-ins. There is nothing wrong with using the defaults. Pay attention to where the installers say they are going to put things.

It should not be necessary to uninstall. If Cakewalk Command Center knows about the prior DP installation, it will present a Reinstall option otherwise, it will show an Install option. Either way, it will run the installers.

If the plug-ins must exist in the scan path, locate them-in in the P{lug-in Manager and click "Exclude Plug-in"

Normally, a project and the associated folders and files are all in a single folder. If a project is deleted from disk (along with the associated per-project audio, melodyne and mixscene folders) as indicated in the OP, all the disk space used by the projects is recovered.

1) If you have SONAR Platinum, the Cakewalk Command Center and run the Dimension Pro installers from there or 2) download and the installers from your Cakewalk Account or 3) run them from the install disk. If running from SONAR 8.5 and older disk make sure to get the v1.2, v1.5 upgrades and the expansion packs.

Platinum included much more content: plug-ins, loops, etc. BandLab recommends installing Platinum before CbB but if you do not want all the bundled plug-ins you can skip it. I am not familiar with any setting in CbB that messes with Step Recording. Have you tried opening a project made on the computer with the problem on the second computer? Are the notes misaligned on the second computer?

The projects listed in the start screen and File menu are based on HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\Core\Recent File List in the registry Over time the old entries will fall off the list If that is not adequate regedit may be used to remove the old entries. I wrote a tool called Launchpad which can clean up the registry too.

Yeah, there are some other Mercury elements. For example, the Crossfade and Ripple Edit indicators in the Track View and the note selector in the PRV are from Mercury. Should be easy to grab the new Tungsten elements and update the theme for those interested in doing so. FWIW, my darks theme were carried over from Platinum so they have the light PRV too.

Session Drummer was part of the BandLab purchase. They have not provided a roadmap for any of the software acquired from Gibson. If you have an old 64bit Cakewalk DAW with a bundled copy of Session Drummer, works fine in CbB. I suppose the 32bit works too but would probably use something else rather than install a 32bit drum synth. For free, look at Sitala

A full install of CbB is less than .5% of a 256GB drive. I strongly suggest using the CbB default settings. I also encourage everyone to experiment with directory junctions. They are very easy to use, safe and an effective way to move directories from one drive to another.
