  1. Thanks Bob! I'm a "hoarder" so this goes into the pile for now...working on a new album and I like to gather lots of material to pick through...with a little work this might be a keeper I actually had the guitars more forward but it was too much...I'll revisit that because I like the idea of emphasizing them...and the drums are low so they don't stand out too much right now Bill
  2. Tight! I like me some good crunchy guitars! Vocals have a good "space" and the song itself has a nice hook, well done :) Bill
  3. Yup, 'fraid so 😋 This is something I started last weekend. It's rough...distorted guitars need work(maybe re-recording), drum parts need to be actually written, needs a couple of synth solos...etc. Well anyway, it's called Transmission...receive at your own risk! Transmission Bill
  4. You may have to got to the soundforge.exe, right-click and check run as administrator. Bill
  5. No need for a third party translator...open your sf2 in Kontakt, then save and it creates an .nki instrument :) Bill
  6. Creativity is something you either have or don't to varying degrees. If you're creative you just have to learn the language and tools, if you're not creative no one can tell you how to be. If you want to work with music learn it...take lessons...piano, flute, guitar...learn some notation...study the fundamentals- chords, keys, scales, modes, etc. Then listen to your inner voice and speak :) Bill
  7. An operating system that changes your settings, deletes drivers, changes your Machine ID, etc. seems close to my definition of a virus I'm running Win7 Ultimate on my DAW and Win10 Pro on a laptop...my Win7 is definitely more stable. At some point(maybe next year) I want to build a new Daw...I'll go with Win10 Pro but I hope Microsoft fixes things first. As far as I'm concerned it's Microsoft's OS but my hardware and software! Bill
  8. I created my own Lens called Default and it opens every project the way I want the GUI setup. I've never used screensets, can't really see a use for them. But to be fair I'm only recording in Cakewalk...my mixing is done in Mixbus and mastering done in Sound Forge. I'd just as soon be able to get rid of the Multidock and Browser, I have 3 monitors...lots of room for stuff Bill
  9. Eugene, you're right! This just puts it in front of people who wouldn't know about HitFilm otherwise :) Bill

  11. I started using the Gran Vista Black & Blue 100 recently, really enjoying it! Not a big fan of flat color schemes. Bill
  12. I have a sampler built into my Kurzweil(K2500XS)...used it to sample my drumkit...never had a use for it again. I use Kontakt in software now but don't sample any more though I'm thinking about creating my own instruments one of these days 😃 Bill
  13. If you're using the same settings on your tracks set up a send instead of per-track instances of EQ and compression. Bill
  14. I find this to be more of a Mach piece 😋 Great stuff! Bill
  15. Gimp rocks! And no lite beer here...I like 'em dark like the middle ages :) Bill
  16. The image in my signature was started in Amberlight Bill
  17. Read up on this a bit and to me it's just light buss mixing followed by the traditional 2-track mastering. Bill
  18. I created a simple form in Flame Painter, then took it into Photoshop for editing 😀 Bill
  19. Actually it's a combination of the Google Nik Collection and ON1 free effects. As far as what it it...it's a doodle....it looked like a character in the center so he got eyes. I'm an Accidental Artist(if this isn't a thing it should be 😉 ), nothing I make starts on purpose...it's more of an improv. Once I get started I get into the details and see where I want to go. I approach music composition the same way...start with an improv idea and then refine it :) Bill
  20. Bored tonight and not in a music mood so figured I'd mess around a bit in Photoshop...here's the evidence! The original is called Blue...I'm working on the Blue2 branch ;) Bill
  21. Oh yeah....no lead guitar, just generic drums, no mix to speak of...hell, I haven't even finished writing it...don't know if it will make the cut when it's time Bill
  22. I like to stockpile material when album time is coming up....and this is part of the treasure trove ;) Cold(Demo) Thanks for listening, Bill
  23. I use MozBackup to backup both Firefox and Thunderbird...it's no longer under development but I used it last year to move my profiles, bookmarks, emails, etc. from my Windows 7 laptop to a Windows 10 laptop. Worked a treat! Bill

    No MIDI input

You're not alone with the Midi problem...I've had to delete TTSSEQ.ini every time I start Cakewalk...or Splat for that matter. It started probably 3 or 4 updates back in Splat. I'm just used to deleting TTSSEQ.ini, opening Cakewalk(or Splat), and re-choosing my Midi interface. Thought I was the only one with this problem...welcome to the club! 😉 Bill
