  1. Best cover of Ravel's Bolero by a pop-rock band:
  2. Favorite NRBQ cover of a fantastic '60s instrumental with lyrics in lieu of the gutsy sax part. Bonus track (studio version with official video):
  3. JMO: its kind of too bad (i.e., unfortunate) that the initial thread announcing Cakewalk Next and Cakewalk Sonar rapidly moved away from low-drama fact-finding questions about the new products. I think a question about the help links in the new Cakewalk Sonar after noting that that website change seems to have broken the links in CbB would have been appropriate. I am assuming (rightly or wrongly) that (1) the Cakewalk team has to coordinate the website changes with other departments within Bandlab, (2) they are aware of the issue, and (3) its on their to-do list to get all the links working properly. FWIW, https://legacy.cakewalk.com/Documentation/Home works in Chrome; however, the help button doesn't jump to respective help pages.
  4. Maybe its not a glitch, but a change of ownership sale.
  5. Its funny for what it is, but I still like the official Bruce Bickford clay animations! Based on the trailer, I'd say that AI animation has a long way to go before it will match the quality of hands-on human creativity. 8-{ }
  6. Home > General > News & Announcements > Announcing the Cakewalk by BandLab Early Access Program If you insist on being a fierce advocate for Linux, at least search the forum for discussions of Linux or another possibly relevant place to post your advocacy. For example, you could have chosen to put in a simple request in the Feedback section. Its like you didn't even search the forum for an appropriate place to post your rant.
  7. There are many places in the forum where Linux is discussed. I am not sure why you posted your "request" under the "Announcing the Cakewalk by BandLab Early Access Program" topic.
  8. Thanks for the heads up about the 404 warnings. I just checked the two links I posted here when someone reported getting 404 errors. The links I posted still work. This one also works: https://online.berklee.edu/courses .
  9. @craigb At first I was sitting too close to the screen and I just saw a whole bunch of wrong notes. But when I moved back a bit, I got the bigger picture. 😜
  10. Part of the issue was actually addressed in the thread announcing Cakewalk Next and Cakewalk Sonar. Understandable if you missed it because it turned into a lengthy thread.
  11. Phooeey. I missed an opportunity to post Zappa's "Let's Make the Water Turn Black." 😜 "Free is when you don't have to Pay for nothing Or do nothing We want to be free Free as the wind"
  12. IMO we are so fortunate that the video crew at Daryl's House got so much of his playing (and his facial expressions, too). If you haven't yet seen the whole episode (which also shows his arrival), I recommend it. The thread moved on from the green theme, but I decided I hadn't heard Eric Dolphy's On Green Dolphin Street since my turntable broke. So I found it (fortunately) on YouTube. 🙂
  13. This ^^^^^^^. I tried my usual method (Menu Bar > Help > Documentation) and your method (Preferences > Help Button). Both work. As @Patrick Wichrowski says, try using the offline documentation (aka local help). I unchecked the box (Preferences > File > Advanced > Always Use Local Help) and had the same issue you had. When I re-enabled it, it worked again. 🙂
  14. HISTORICAL INFO (Bonus Link) --> Steve Cropper talks about the song that needed a B side and how Green Onions came to be.
  15. In another thread one member took a handful of my words out of context thereby distorting the totality of my post. Since this thread seems to be responding to that thread, I feel obligated to comment. I would encourage everyone who is genuinely concerned about the issue raised by this rather unfortunate thread to read all of the previous posts of the person who elevated a few of my words into a major issue. Perhaps you will see other negative posts. In fact there is at least one that shows the member to be fond of playing word games (verbal sport) in order to dramatically criticize Cakewalk/SONAR for the purpose of getting attention. It was disheartening to have my words used in such a way to intentionally provoke conflict. It is even worse to be called a bully as part of this attempt to rekindle a conflict that wasn't a barroom brawl. My intent was sincere; however, in light of this new thread, I just cannot remain silent. The person allegedly bullied who wrote this: is not innocent of using "wittiness" and other forms of verbal confrontation and drama: I stand by my original posts.
  16. If you are right, I hope they also have z3ta+ 1.5 or its fx processor functionality included with any successor to z3ta 2.0 they do. BTW, on my PC z3ta+ 1.5 also and z3ta+ 1.5 fx also work under Windows 10 Pro. I also hope they take a suggestion I made a few years ago and to acquire E-Mu's long-abandoned Emulator X3 and to update it to meet the needs of everyone including those who have been advocating for a built-in sampler. Yeah. I lot of us saw this potential. There might even have been some user discussion about it.
  17. I see a person with a weirdly colored stocking reaching to pet a nice, quiet, but weirdly colored sleeping dog on a stick. The dog is facing right as evidenced by the button nose and you can tell its sleeping based on its eye and eyebrow slightly northwest of the nose on the dog's head. 😜 But, like the the lady or the lamp, the old woman of the young woman, and other similar illusions, I can probably switch my mental overlay to see other things. 😮
  18. OK. I'll give it a try: Maybe those who keep beating the same dead horse think its a cat and won't stop bringing up the lifetime updates issue until all of its 9-lives are dead? 🤪
  19. Since you took a very small part of my reply and chose to focus on that alone, I have nothing more to say to you.
  20. When I researched the product, I must have missed that word. I will look again, but in the meantime I looked up "what is a perpetual license?" Here are just a few quotations I found. Obviously, there is a lot of info online including some lengthy user agreements for perpetual licenses. Evidently the terms vary from company to company. Some definitions say that a perpetual license involves a one time fee for the license v. making payments over time (renting, subscription, etc.). I do not know the terms of the Gibson license for SONAR Platinum (with lifetime Updates). Can you continue to use it for the rest of your life? If so, that would seem to quality as a perpetual license under the terms of some of what I found on line. I can still use Sonar 8.5, X1, and X3 even though they have been discontinued. (Those are the only ones I checked recently. I might be able to use others as well.) However, as far as I know there was never a rental option. They still work in 2023, but I prefer to use Cakewalk by Bandlab. If I cannot afford the upcoming Bandlab products, I have a number of options. Peace.
  21. Sorry, but this only has the illusion of fairness. I think its absurd for consumers to be telling a vendor what pricing schedule they should set. Likewise, I think all of the whining by people who feel they were cheated by Gibson and should be compensated for that by Bandlab is pure selfishness. Let's say person A was new to Cakewalk/SONAR and purchased SONAR Platinum (with Lifetime Updates) for $500 to Gibson. Let's say person B was a loyal customer who bought their first Cakewalk/SONAR product for $300 from Twelve Tone Systems or Roland and thereafter paid $100 for each of 5 years for product add-ons and/or "updates" that were included in SONAR Platinum (with Lifetime Updates). Let's say both person A and person B got the free version of Cakewalk by Bandlab along with five years of free updates. Why should someone who paid $500 get a better offer than someone who paid $800? BTW, I do not have the price schedules from over the years, but I believe it is entirely possible that a long-term user like person B might have paid well over $1,000 while someone who just bought the Gibson product would have paid half of that. I do not have all my receipts, but I can tell you that my invoice for the SONAR 5 PE upgrade was $179 (plus shipping).
