What @mark skinner said. Really nice! Outstanding vocals. Very enjoyable track loaded with a lot of goodies.

Yeah. I never heard this tune and strangely it brings back memories. I can't hear any issues. Well done, Barry!
  3. Mark. This is really really good. Your voice is killing it, man. Lots of character and grit. I expected some of that lush guitar work you put out, but noticeably not what's pulling me in this time around. This one really puts your outstanding vocal talents to the front. Sounds like a fusion of jazz and soul? Whatever, the arrangement is well done. As always, the sound quality of your work is clean and robust. I didn't read any of the comments, but if there are any issues I can't pick them out. A very enjoyable track, Mark.
  4. @Bajan Blue Hi Nigel! Thanks for the review! it sounds like you listened to the first post. I think the last revised post fixed the tom issue-I hope. Lots of good ears here to help iron out issues I don't catch. Its a great help and I enjoyed all the helpful feedback. So glad you liked the tune, Nigel!
  5. @Lynn Wilson Hey Lynn! Glad to hear from you! Yeah. Lots of epic drama in this project. As per our last conversation about dynamics, this is an example of what I was talking about . This song gave me a lot of opportunities to employ that tool. The opportunities don't always present themselves in certain songs, but when they do, I will try to take advantage of them to some degree to reset the mood or introduce a surprise. Lynn, your comment was very kind and I appreciate all that you said. Thanks so much!
  6. @Wookiee Thanks! I don't have studio monitors, so its always nice to get feedback from people who do. Not sure which version you listened to, but I think the last one unboxed the toms. I really appreciate all the feedback and glad you had some time to join us here and liked the tune my friend! Always a pleasure hearing from you!
  7. That's the cream in my coffee. Awesome arrangements and clear as a bell. Sax knocked it out of the park. Much enjoyed!
  8. Mark. I think you hit the nail on the head, and I went ahead and applied those recommendations. Thanks so much for the advice! I think it made a huge improvement.
  9. Thanks Andy! The drum issue has me puzzled. My only focus in this project was introducing more low end. Some of the past comments on other projects posted here thought the low end was a bit thin, so wanted to put that feedback to good use in this project. Well anyway, thanks so much for your thoughts and I'm happy you liked the overall effort, Andy!
  10. Hey Mark! Glad to hear from you. Yes. I had a little time today and took another stab at the project and reposted the results. Personally, while there seems to be something about the toms everyone is hearing, I really don't think its the compression that is causing it. Nonetheless, I removed a great deal of it. Perhaps they are just too loud? Well, to be safe, I also knocked off a few db. Glad you liked to overall effort here.
  11. Thanks Larry! Indeed! Wookiie's absence is felt.
  12. Thought so. I have yet to come across a harmonic plugin that sounds real, and you found those notes just fine.
  13. Great tune. Nice voice. I don't know if its on my end or not but I'm hearing clicks here and there. I heard them on another tune I listened to today and when I went back to check the click was gone. So, it may just be on my end. Nevertheless, very enjoyable tune!
  14. Yeah Larry. This is real nice. Real harmonica?
  15. Cool song! The bass is masking the vocals and they are really hard to understand on my end.

Relaxing. Oh dear, I spoke too soon. I love surprises. Sounds great! You have the clean and the dirty working perfectly. Drums coming through great. Nice mix!

I don't know. In some spots the vocals sound too far to the back and then in other areas they don't. Mostly at the beginning in my opinion. Anyway, interesting song.
  18. You got pretty close to the original. I can agree with David Rossi. The vocals need more swing. I would also suggest they need more bottom end and perhaps just a little more width for my ears. But overall you did a good job recreating the song.
  19. its a very enchanting piece. Hmm? So many things you could add to spice it up, but frankly I could take it as it is-vocals and guitar. Of course, as treesha pointed out, there are a few sibilance issues here and there. I may even use some automation to calm down some edgy areas in the vocals to smooth them out. Perhaps some eq to also warm the vocals up just a tad. Personally, I think if you just spend some time doing a little house cleaning this tune can stand on its own. But if you want a little drama go with the strings. If you want to go sad, then the violin. Percussions seems out of the question for me, but there is really no reason some light percussion couldn't be added. Bottom line is you have a fine tune, a good voice, and excellent guitar skills.
  20. Sounds good! Hope you win something!
  21. Were you born with some extra fingers? This a very very very good! Loved them both but favor Pop's Dilemma.
  22. Good the hear, Wookiee! Yes I heard about your close friend passing and I really didn't know what to say at the time. I'm truly sorry for your loss. Indeed, time is a valuable commodity. Spend it wisely! I look forward to your return and upcoming post. Cheers my friend!
  23. Yes. For some its seems to be necessary. Thanks for listening and commenting, Jack! Glad you liked the tune!
