  1. Cool find, I hadn't even heard of these before. Will have to check out some reviews to make sure its just not some marketing scheme but first impression has me thinking the price is very reasonable.
  2. Do you have access to a guitar to play ? That song uses not only rear pick up, but a good amount of pick attack, this is done by striking the pick on the strings very close to the bridge.
  3. I agree with Mark, its likely a C++ Redistributable package you haven't updated.
  4. There is no longer a global audio folder (if that's what your referring to). All audio is stored inside the the working folder of the CWP project. This is nothing new, it was changed over a year ago.
  5. Ive never used "inset measures" but this sounds like a perfect example to use "Ripple editing". When was the last time you used this with no issues ? Last months update ?
  6. You shouldn't need to log in to download it, do you not see the download link at the bottom of the page ? If you don't see it, let me know and I can download it for you.
  7. We have been asking for a tempo track for some time now, almost like a markers view that is able to export, import to other projects. For now the work around is to create a project template with blank tracks (which holds all tempo data) and open a new project using this project template.
  8. Love the sound of wow and flutter. Analog is the one thing I've yet to hear reproduced in a plug in, so many have tried but it still sounds like digital trying to be analog. Song sounds great. A little rough around the edges but I would take that any day over a perfectly recorded digital track. I still run analog tape in my studio. problem is, there has to be a digital conversion somewhere and its always evident.
  9. I really believe it was Sonar X1 that gave the impression of "random crashes" to the for front. To Cakewalks credit though, it was a whole new design ahead of its time. And, Cakewalk was fast to release not just one patch.. But 4 to remedy possible problems. The major one being Autosnap was not working correctly at all. That with the combination of Windows 7 just being released almost at the same exact time, it was bound for issues to be worked out as most were still using Windows XP and hadn't even heard of Administrator privileges.
  10. Got to say I am impressed with these impulses, they sound amazing. but it is just another great example of a marketing scheme to sell people a sound they will never likely attain. Some of the examples in the video were double tracked guitars playing two different parts, had quality FX and obviously a quality pre amp. The DI examples were purposely turned down in volume to add the "dramatic effect" of "Wow listen to how much better this sounds". Totally agree with you about Piezo pick ups though, a great foundation can be laid using them. For all intent and purposes, sometimes that's all that's needed. I choose to blend piezo with mic'ed tracks.
  11. I suppose my initial response of "You cant get a good sound with a 14 dollar microphone" is a bit unfair (it is however true, but unfair). I still stick by my previous comments, but for the aspiring musician who doesn't have a hundred bucks to drop on an entry level microphone, well.. I've been there. So I understand. The best thing you can do without spending more money is try to fudge it the best you can. This would be the practical thing to do. - Hang some blankets to cut down on reflections. - Point the mic more towards the sound hole and closer to the sound hole. The reason being, the BM800 lacks low frequency's. - Experiment with pre amps (even a Mackie mixer via the interface) Just make certain to bypass your A.I. Pre. - Boost some lows with EQ After reading my fellow forum members comments, It made me understand that sometimes you have to get creative and work with what you have. This is simply another great example of how this forum has made me a better person. Sometimes I forget what it was like starting out with one realistic microphone and a five string acoustic (missing the low E tuning peg). That was me as a 12 year old kid.
  12. Static to me says; it would be a skipping sound, so fast, probably related to buffer settings
  13. I have a laptop with only Sonar platinum on it and it and VS 20 works as a control surface and as an audio interface.
  14. Just my personal opinion but unless you need the switch's for cardiod/Omni patterns, save yourself a boatload and go with a RODE NT 1000. they can be bought used for a little over a 100.00 bucks. I have one of the first models ever produced and it has been my work horse for Vocals and Acoustic guitars for over 20 years now. Its the same technology as its older brother (the NT2000) with the transformerless/ JFET electronics. Same frequency specs as well with a presence boost around 12k, perfect for Vocals. I have also found the NT1000 to be more forgiving towards low rumble and noise where the NT2000 utilizes the basket harness and very susceptible to any floor movements, vibrations. The RODE NT1000 go for about 350.00 USA dollars brand new.
  15. - A cold reboot is almost always needed for changes to take effect. - Always use the same USB port, don't change ports as this device is USB dependent. - Don't use a USB hub.
  16. Where did you get the driver from (as there is no Windows 10 driver) ? Did you edit the driver signature ?
  17. I wonder if its possible to use the Theme editor to remove/replace that box with a clear rectangle.
  18. You can try turning off Load balancing in preferences to see if that makes a difference. Preferences >Playback and Recording > Load balancing.
  19. Was this the thread you referenced ? http://forum.cakewalk.com/The-ultimate-guide-to-get-your-RolandEdirol-devices-to-work-with-Windows-10-Updated-m3267234.aspx#3267234
  20. Guys I respect both your personal beliefs as I do every other person on this earth, but please try to keep religion off the comment boards here. There's already been one complaint on this thread, I don't want to have to lock it.
  21. @Neil McGrail Use the control surface section in preferences. It has a drop down list for control surfaces and the VS20 is listed right there. This surface doesn't use ACT at all so don't even bother with ACT. The WAI strip can be changed (Tracks 1-8 / 9-16 exc) on the surface itself, it has a button for up/down to cycle through track chunks.
  22. Are you setting it up as a control surface ? In Preferences ?
  23. I own one and i enjoyed it a lot until i upgraded to a motorized fader unit (The Mackie MCU). Your dates may be off a little bit though (March 2016). It came out long before that. Heres a video i did back in 2013.
