Pretty sure that he means there would have been no sonar without people paying for it for decades. And no Sonar would mean no Cakewalk by bandlab. Daw history is pretty interesting. Old ableton guys peeled off and formed bitwig, studio one was modelled heavily off cubase/nuendo. lots of people said reaper would one day be the de facto standard. but the actual situation for professionals as far as I can see is exactly the same as when I got interested in daws about 15 years ago. 90% pro tools with a few cubase and DP users. Must have something to do with tight hardware integration I'm beginning to feel

Probably you're right. It's just that I've used cakewalk stuff for about 15 years and in that time they've had 4 owners. People were pretty sanguine about roland and then gibson too!

I'd like that too Keith Lane. One thing you can do in Sonar is have the free Voxengo Span after your master buss limiter and than use x ray mode to keep it in the background. It is a terrific reverb. They are currently hyping up their new verb which will be coming out in a month or two so maybe buying this now might be a good idea as I think they have upgrade discounts generally

do izotope make some superior sounding gate or something 😂I've got samplitude and it's got a decent gate I'll say that but no better than the sonitus one. You'd be way better off using izotope than samplitude noise reduction effects I would say-- they are showing their age-- might still be good enough for newbies though 😀

I'd rather Bandlab concentrated on the DAW part as there are already many 3rd party samplers to choose from. What would happen is Cakewalk would be inundated with feature requests for their sampler (for some reason people seem to think every plugin should have every feature from every other competing plugin) and it would take time away from Cakewalk.

PSP create some of the very best plugins. Their licensing tactics have changed: originally of thereabouts they used iLok protection. Then they dropped ilok. Now they are using it again. Maybe they consider the necessity for soft license ilok a fair trade off to dissuade piracy. Some of their finest plugs have been updated and the lastest versions of these require ilok but if you bought them previously you can still get the non dongle versions from your account which is pretty cool.
