VST Plugins not sorted into categories
Mark Morgon-Shaw replied to Sven's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Right click them in the Browser and allocate to the Category you want. Click the little + sign to add a new category You can CTRL-Click , or SHIFT-Click to assign multiple plugins to the category -
Cakewalk Deep Integration with Izotope Visual Mixer
Mark Morgon-Shaw replied to Ewoof's topic in Feedback Loop
It doesn't really emulate the CBB controls it supplants them with a completely separate plugin Best workaround would probably be a hardware controller of some sort https://gearspace.com/board/product-alerts-older-than-2-months/1308539-control-your-software-plugins-like-hardware-controller.html -
Need More Smoothness
Mark Morgon-Shaw replied to BAARISH KI DHUN (Pisi Bhaipo)'s topic in Feedback Loop
It's not very snappy if you're used to Reaper -
You don't have to do that, you can just route them to discrete tracks from one instance- this video is very informative on the process

I've used AD2 on hundreds of tracks for production music libraries, I think it sounds good straight out of the box and rarely feel the need to do too much extra processing to it but I do tend to layer a lot of my drums so I may well have an electronic kick from another VSTi holding down the low end subtly making the whole kit sound bigger. I also use a lot of percussion layers / loops which of helps too. I've mixed plenty of real drums in my time as well , I guess it depends partly on the music you're making but I've used it for everything from Punk-Pop-Rock-EDM and some more trad type stuff - I am sure there are better sounding options like SD3 if you want something that sounds more detailed and realistic but in a dense production it's probably hard to tell much difference.

Sonar 8.5.3 Dropout, all operations superslow
Mark Morgon-Shaw replied to rev's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
8.5.3 ?? My favorite version of the old Sonar line - Used it for a decade but seriously just upgrade to CBB Old Sonar doesn't support Win 10 so who know. -
Fanstatic 2buss compressor..this is like a magic bullet and worth every penny even at full price Been using it for several years but watch the WhiteSea studio review on Youtube.

How to muffle/soften a TTS-1 instrument?
Mark Morgon-Shaw replied to Dave G's topic in Instruments & Effects
Use lower velocities if it responds to them. Dynamic Eq can help, so can a transient plugin like Trans-X if you set it to a negative value or plugins such as Gullfoss, Soothe or Smooth Operator can take the resonant peaks out fairly automatically. It's probably cheaper to buy a better VST instrument though. TTS-1 was pretty basic when it came out , I think I only ever used it for a hi hat..rest of the sounds were'n't up to much 20 odd years ago when it was first bundled so whatever treatment you give it the underlying sounds are still low quality. -
What is wrong with the Browser ?
-
I agree with you , it's a strange way to export a whole track although I've gotten used to it over the years. My process is now to use the Arranger and drag it from the starting point to the end point of the track , then click it once to select everything to export.

We're not in 1998 anymore Dorothy

I don't think they can be put there because it's using the standard Windows GUI. The Browser is much quicker once you get used to it. maybe @msmcleod can confirm ?
-
You don't need to select 'Clip Automation' ...You can do it from the default ' Clips' setting ...it's just Ctrl-Left Click - Drag..Maybe you have to be using the Smart Tool for this to work but it's the only one I ever use.
-
I agree with dubdisciple that it's good but the drums don't hit hard enough for this genre. The kick needs a lot more level and punch...try layering multiple kicks and then side-chaining the backing track to duck out of the way of the kick on every hit.

Me too ? But I've not really used any other DAWs enough to compare

The FX bin is way too small to show a large amount of plugins Undocking the Browser and floating it to where you want , then pressing B when you want to call it up, B again to hide it..is much quicker trust me
-
It's already very easy in Cakewalk ? ..real time clip
-
You wanted a faster way to find plugins..Cakewalk already gave you one, and I merely showed you the quickest way to use it. Whether you choose to incorporate that workflow or not is up to you but it might help another user that comes across this post
-
The Browser method was added when they moved to the Skylight Interface in so it's a much newer workflow than the original method of Inserting FX by right clicking an FX bin which goes right back to the old Cakewalk Pro Audio line of the 90s. The old method is fine if you don't have many plugins but it's not as fast when you have hundreds of them. Learning the shortcut open it up becomes second nature after a while. I am not sure why you think yo have to move away from the project when you don't. Don't just take my word for it , read what the pro's say - Here is a cutting from the Sound on Sound review of X1

Media browser (Sample and loops Waveform Display)
Mark Morgon-Shaw replied to NEO.dreams's topic in Feedback Loop
Hopefully this is a sign that it's on the CBB radar - I can't imagine they want users to migrate to the full DAW and then have major features missing- 30 replies
