Funny. I just talked to a guy who has a 20 yr old battery powered Sunbeam LCD thermometer he uses outside where temps range from +80 to -60 seasonally. The thing still works tho he's never changed the battery... so he clams.

I lost a lot of expensive gear bought in the 90s due to dried caps. Didn't know it till after I sold everything for parts. Very disappointing when stuff made in the 50s still works.

A sign copy & paste is sometimes done in haste. I currently have S8.3 thru X3 installed and for some reason 32 bit X1 now throws a flag the 4 ProChannel vst's can't be loaded so X1 ProChannel is DOA. It only worked after updating it to X1d but then quit again after installing X2 & 3. The 4 PC modules are updated almost every step of the way but you'd think the latest ones would still work in X1. Another oddity is 64 bit X1 thru 3 installs end up requiring admin privileges to run. EDIT: Re-reinstalled Sonar X1 thru SPlat with all updates and everything seems to be working fine now.

StudioVerb2! Originally from Project5 it came with my Home Studio 7 and X1. It installs with DShowProxy.dll
-
Don't think so as I'm currently installing X3. I don't see it there so it could be a "ghost" listing. I'll reinstall X1 and select it as the only item to install and look for it by Date Created.

... why not? or I've nothing else to do? or Just wondering if the install is broken or the file is hidden somewhere.

While installing the old SONAR X1 thru SPlat series, I count 7 reverbs in the install lists, but the Plugin Manager only has 6. The one in question is "Reverb". Any ideas what/where it might be? The 6 I find: Shared Plugins fxreverb.ax = DSP-FX StudioVerb or Cakewalk FXReverb reverb.ax = CW-Reverb or Cakewalk Reverb (mono) sonitusfxreverb.dll = Sonitus fx:Reverb stereoreverb.ax = Stereo Reverb or Cakewalk Reverb Vstplugins breverb 2 Cakewalk.dll = BREVERB 2 Cakewalk perfectspace.dll = Perfect Space Convolution Reverb

I upgraded to Sonar a few days ago and already starting to regret it (Solved)

Oddly, I was a janitor and I look exactly like Roger... but I've never played that game. -

For me it's better to import the clips and settings into a brand new project each time I switch DAW versions. Each time I migrate a project thru several versions of Cakewalk the more crashes and other weird things happen. This is why I keep all versions back to 32 bit Sonar 8 installed on each system I've run. Not so easy on newer systems tho. I just installed the initial version of X1 Producer and ProChannel did not work. Once I had all the updates thru X1d Expanded up and running, it works fine. Only issue so far is when moving the Plugin Manager window across the screen it leaves remnants of itself. Windows animation is off. -
Need a way to open pro channel up from track view.

Inspector PC is the same as Console View PC but they work independently of each other. There's a Display button at the bottom of Inspector to modify it. Only thing you can't do is have a CV track's PC open and the Inspector PC open at the same time. -
Installation XFailsX Good For Dimension LE DXi
sjoens replied to sjoens's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Just found the 64 bit Sonar 8 installation process for Dimension is broken. It installs the Multisamples but not Dimension. And if I change the target folder it puts the samples in the default folder anyway. There's a fix for v1.2 on the Knowledge Base site but even it's problematic. A better fix is Dimension 1.5 update -
Good point. I have the big one set as main screen so I may reset it and see what happens. So far this is the only glitch I've had using the 2 monitors. It may also be happening because the monitors use different video cards, but that's by design and can't be changed... I've tried.

Installation XFailsX Good For Dimension LE DXi
sjoens replied to sjoens's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Yeah I found it. Was confused by the installer. I expected it to go in Cakewalk\Shared Dxi but the 32 bit dll goes in Cakewalk\Dimension LE and the VSTi goes in Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Dimension LE. Oddly a different installation for the 64 bit DXi goes in C:\Shared DXi\Dimension LE, so they're all over the place. Even more odd is Home Studio 7 has v1.3 2008 while Sonar 8 SE has the older v1.2 2007. Both Sonars were released the same time in 2008. I bought them both in 2009 about 3 months apart. What this means is when I run the Sonar 8 installer for the VSTi it overwrites the Home Studio Dimension LE with an older version. If I'd known this I could have deselected it during install. -
Today I am reinstalling all Sonar apps from SHS7 to CbB on my Windows 10 system. Windows just ran an update before this. For some reason when I select only Dimension LE DXi to be installed, it installs the VSTi instead. It was previously installed on this system with no issues so what's happening now? Edit: Senior moment!

I used to have all project iterations in one folder, up to 50 in some cases, which meant several cwp's were using the same audio files as well as adding their own making one huge audio folder. Now I save each project iteration in it's own folder so older project folders and audio can be removed easily without fear.

This only happened with 32 bit SPlat and I found a host of plugin issues with it so I'm heading for a complete reinstall. ProChannel modules show up when the strip is opened but they don't work and this happens:
-
It works fine if I have CbB on the laptop screen, but I normally run CbB on the 2nd larger widescreen where the VC does this: Once it shrinks it never goes back to full size. It happens no matter the screen resolution or settings. My normal settings: 17" Laptop: 1980x1020 @100% (3840x2160 4K) 29" Widescreen: 2560x1080 @100%

It does seem they are interchangeable at least between Dim Pro & Rapture Session as the latter loads all of the libraries similar to Kontakt. I would stick with RS but it's a player only with no adjustment controls.

Sonar bug? Drag/drop Midi stops audio engine?
sjoens replied to Salvatore Sorice's topic in Cakewalk Sonar
Good. I can't test this in Sonar Demo but CbB has no issue here. -
A bad or damaged HDD can cause corrupted/missing files. Happened to me once. A $1500 recovery only found some of them.

Mine as well for not seeing this till now, Gary, but thanks, Sysex is enabled in CbB. After a reinstall of my entire Win 10 system in February I never setup the LX88+ for controller use. Now having another go at it. Follow the instructions in the Cakewalk/Sonar pdf to set things up. 1. Page 23 USB Port Setup should be amended for LX88+: a. press Shift + Patch>(Setup) together b. press A2 (screen = 000) c. press C#3(+) till screen = 0.0.2. Track volume, pan, mute, pitchbend, modulation and transport now work as described except for: Master/Track fader controls the Master bus by holding it's Mute button. 2. ACT Module displays correctly now. Not sure why the Asian characters before. 3. Patch buttons cycle between the first 2 plugins until any others are selected by mouse in the Synth Rack, then Patch buttons will include them. 5. Inst key still ignores selected track when opening a plugin. a. press Inst opens the 1st inserted plugin regardless of track selection b. press Patch> then Inst again opens the next one, etc. c. press <Patch then Inst to cycle backward -clunky I had to close and reopen CbB for the track controller to work. Edited for accuracy

My Cakewalk Content\Rapture Pro\Programs\Dimension Pro (legacy) folder: AFAICT the DSF - Vol 4 - Ensoniq folder contains the prog files for the Ensoniq CDR-1 thru 4 folders which only contain sfz and sample files. From this folder they all load fine in Rapture Session but not in Dimension Pro. I just moved the 4 CDR folders back to Dimension Pro\Multisamples and now Dimension can load them properly. Digital_Sound_Factory-Vol_4-Ensoniq.001.exe installs them to the Rapture Pro folder for Rapture Session, with no way to change it, which buggered Dimension's access to them. I wonder if all Cake's PROG loading synths can access PROG files from the same folder? If so I'd move them all to one place. Currently they're all over the place.

This pops up a few times during a routine plugin scan in SPlat: Is it refering to VstScan, which is the plugin scanner itself, or something else?

What do you mean by this? Right-click & bounce? or... -
Again, I recommend downloading EVRYTHING to search with. Windows search is much slower and hit&miss at best.
