  1. Funny nobody commented on this. I have been out of town helping my son move (no internet!). So that's my excuse for not commenting. I can't speak for anyone else. It is one of the first thing I noticed upon reading the EA Release post. (1) My initial reaction was: It makes sense; (2) I have formed some speculation as to why; (3) I anticipated some backlash to this; and (4) I said to myself, "I hope there isn't a flood of anxiety-ridden whiney posts about this. I "hate" when people do that." Sorry to see you were disappointed that no one commented. ?
  2. For E-Mu gear which could have different Sound ROMs inside, dedicated users would make *.ins files and share them on Yahoo Groups (now defunct). Nowadays some people use other services for sharing files. Not sure if there are any for fans of Yamaha gear, but maybe you tried them already. It is also possible people made their own and are not part of any sharing communities (or just haven't shared them). I made my own for some ancient Roland Gear (Intelligent Arrangers) cobbled from existing *.ins files and info in manuals (as well as E-Mu files that had my own User Banks--presets I created) but never shared them. Anyhow, if you want to tweak an existing DX-7 *.ins file (assuming you have access to midi implementation docs), you should have enough info to do it. JMO: It's really as easy as editing a file in Notepad!
  3. Oh, you mean the tweakheadz site. I always found his how-to-do-it pages meticulously detailed. Let me see if I can find it on the wayback machine. (Not sure if I have the page saved on my XPSP3 PC.) UPDATE: Try this for the document Promidi linked to. JMO: Seems to me like a lot just for a text file (editable in notepad) with an ins suffix. But if you want it as an editor/librarian and whatever features it has, that's something different and might be worth the money to you.
  4. Yeah--no drop and dragging floating VST windows onto the Multidock. I usually click on the top bar of each VST window and choose Dock in Multidock. If you want the Synth Rack first so you have access that way, you can do that and then dock the VST windows in order. But, we can't move the tabs around. CORRECTION: See scook's post (immediately below)!!
  5. Another thing in her favor is that she plays Zappa, sometimes even with Zappa plays Zappa! ?
  6. Alternate routes to similar results fit different work flows. Sometimes right-clicking the track header pane is far more convenient than other methods. I find most of the times using the Menu Bar > Insert menu is more work, but (1) sometimes it's convenient and (2) some people prefer using menu bars as a preferred workflow. There are two type of people in the world, those who say there should be only one path to inner peace and those who believe there can be many acceptable paths. One person might advocate for 2 or 3 favorite ways to insert plugins and those ought to be the only ones available for everyone. Another person might favor 2 or 3 different ways. Yet another person always uses a browser to choose what's presented in hierarchical dialog and never uses the menu bar or the right click methods. One person might favor dropping and dragging; someone else might favor other methods. Do "we" really need to risk alienating users by eliminating their personal efficiencies for the sake of simplification? If you prefer one or two methods, you are free to use them exclusively. YUP! ?
  7. "VST instruments need a tabbed window." = ??????? VSTs can be placed inside the Multidock and we can switch between them by selecting the Multidock tabs. It seems like you want something more/different than that. So I am confused. We can currently (for example) have one tab in the Multidock for the Synth Rack followed by several tabs each having one VST/Soft Synth. We can switch from one tab in the Multidock to another tab by selecting different tabs. Unfortunately (at least the last time I looked) we cannot reorder the tabs. That's probably been requested previously.
  8. I call dibs on the first post on the first page after 909. I want to post a Beatle tune to celebrate.
  9. LOL. I was wondering if it was "weird" because you are unfamiliar with that type of synthesis. The manual does describe Loading User Samples, and a whole bunch of wild features! See: PDF Manual Online Manual (as web pages).
  10. OK . . . Found it . . . I just pasted the links to the videos I post over there (not the teaser since its already released).
  11. Out of curiosity, what do you find weird--the UI? the synth engine/architecture? the sounds it can make? something else? I ask because I found it very straightforward and logically laid out.
  12. I am pretty sure I found at least one site that has a variety of *.ins files for Yamaha. Where have you looked so far? UPDATE: I'm still looking, but in the meantime have you seen this post? UPDATE # 2: Evidently Yamaha has a whole page that includes a tool in addition to how to use it. UPDATE # 3: If Yamaha doesn't have the ones you need or the tool they have doesn't work for your variants, this site has some resources that might help you. If you have the MIDI documentation for your products, it should be straightforward to tweak an existing Yamaha *.ins file. UPDATE # 4: TX -802 Owner's Manual
  13. No!!!!! Use some of the money you save ($3,890.00 $79.00 = $3,811) for an 8 TB 5400RPM HDD for storage (est. $200 - $350) and have it all!
  14. BTW, as long as I had VST Inventory open yesterday, I sorted by Size (double clicked the header) and saw that the largest plugin reported was 200,396,800 bytes. The next largest vst3 reported was "only" 139,299,552 bytes. I use the former for some types of music, but I only use the latter to check out free plug-ins which I almost never use after that. Sometimes I use VST Inventory to look for the number of audio I/Os plug-ins have. My second largest VST3 seems to be able to use up to 64 outputs. That kind of information is good to know for future possibilities. Just for the fun of it, I filtered by Name = Drum and sorted by number of Outputs. That might be useful to me someday. Also, I just did a search I've used in the past: Synth = Y, sorted by Inputs. Sometimes I use Instruments for their FX capabilities. Ones that I expected to see are there. There are some I haven't used as FX processors, but it doesn't surprise me. But there is one freebie (the dll version of the Kia instrument) that I almost never use that seems to have 64 Ins and 64 Outs.
  15. Thanks for clarifying that your post about the tool not finding VST3s was erroneous.
  16. About 1/2 hour ago I downloaded CbB Tools again from the link in the post I gave, installed it, and ran VST Inventory. It found dlls and vst3s. After the Inventory ran, did you scroll down to the plugins that have a Y [Yes} in the VST3 column? Did you select VST3 for the filter and search for Y [VST3 = Y]? It works here using Simple Match. CbB Tools v2.0.10. PS: I have Win 10 Pro.
  17. Its funny. I started to watch an interview just last week. Maybe it was this one; not sure. Maybe it was fed to me by YouTube. In any case, I am sure it was last week. CONFIRMED: 2023-08-24, this YouTuber's interview. Most likely in YouTube's column that shows videos-we-think-you'd-like-based-on-Google's-preferences/watched-or-liked-video tracking system.
  18. You could ask for money back for the duplicate. Maybe they will give it to you. Maybe they won't, but it's a starting point to get the conversation going. Since you are such a good customer, it might be worth their while to just pay you for the second copy and retain you as a satisfied customer. You never know until you try.
