AAS Multiphonics CV-1 Superbooth Modular Sale (Exclusive)
User 905133 replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
Assuming that's a typo (can's = can't), I am trying to remember if I ever put the CV-1 into one of VM's Plug-in Hosts. When I get a chance,** I will see if I have a test preset for that. And if not, I will make one!!! But I agree with your idea: it would be nice if there were collaborative modules that would allow interconnections between different soft synth modular systems. **Hmmmm. I will look now. I am impatient! Sec. I took the last VM preset I last worked on, and swapped the CV-1 in. It sort of works in a very limited way going from VM --> CV-1. I don't see a way to assign the CV-1's CVs to the parameters exposed by the vst3. CV_1's four Macro knobs and the Output Effects knobs respond via VM, but I cannot get CV-1's (1) Reserved parameters, (2) the Internal MIDI parameters, and (3) the Program Change parameter to respond. ? -
AAS Multiphonics CV-1 Superbooth Modular Sale (Exclusive)

It really depends on individual preferences and needs. I got started with commercial synths on a Moog decades ago, so for me a system that allows me to connect components with cables is much more natural and easier to understand. I can see what I am doing. With box synths that have so much under the hood (where almost everything is buried in menus, lists, etc.), it is not as natural for me and requires far more to understand how to do what I want to do. Maybe you are saying something like the old PC v. Mac fake debate. Macs are better for some people because they can turn them on and use them--no need to configure, fiddle, customize, etc. Besides, with Voltage Modular's I/O modules which can host softsynths and FX plug-ins, I can run different box soft synths--from soft ROMplers and other players with massive amounts of sounds that can be selected to soft synths with complicated UIs including multi-tiered preset filtering (sometimes called browsers) to make it super easy to find factory presets. Again, what is easy for one person might not be what is easy for another person. My son has used Linux for quite a number of years. He has tried to convince me that Linux is better than Windows. He can have it as far as I am concerned--way too confusing for me. Running VST3s within VM even from within Cakewalk is more intuitive for me, not at all like trying to do something with Linux!!!! ? -
Which "seems" like if we hit the 3000 number, they will give us "Syntronik 2 MAX" and not just all the instruments. One thing I've learned: Don't assume that what any company means by what they put on a website is what you think it means.

Cherry Audio Superbooth Modular Sale (Exclusive)

I think its a personal thing. Each product (and other software modulars) have advantages and disadvantages in part based on personal factors as well as factors shared by groups of users. Its kind of like "I choose to use ____________________ because for me _____________, ________________, and ________________ are a better match for what I want to do (or my needs) at the moment." I chose to invest in Voltage Modular's products because (1) I got started on a Moog in college and prefer 1/4" phone jacks to banana plugs, (2) I like the many of the features built into the UI, (3) it doesn't use OpenGL, (4) it works with my aging eyesight, and a few other reasons. I stay with it because it allows me to be creative and do the kinds of things I want to do, etc. I can respect the choices that others make for themselves. I like much of what AAS products do and how they sound, but the CV-1 doesn't match my needs, but I do like how it sounds based on the factory presets I have heard. Within a day of getting Nucleus (the Voltage Modular freebie), I felt it was the right fit for me and I have not regretted getting Core + Electro Drums the next day and becoming more deeply invested in their modules and instruments. -

For Ignite, consumers might want to see if this is still available. (I just checked and it says just over 1 day, 16 hours left.) and it now says 16 00 hours. -
Have you tried excluding the specific plug-in via Menu Bar > Utilities > Cakewalk Plug-in Manager before running the VST Scan via Preferences?

Hope you are doing well with the OCD. I am not familiar with Syntronik's Multis except for what I listened to tonight. For my purposes they seemed like examples and I will most likely be creating my own based on my own needs. If Peter can help secure any that come with MAX which might be missing from the ala carte instruments, great. With my own penchant for pursuing details, I will not be obsessing over them if they don't materialize since I plan on making my own. ?

Yup! I stumbled onto that a day or so ago when I was exploring some of the differences between some of the IK Synth Engines (ST3, ST4, SYN, SYN2). In ST4 I saw the 6 buttons we talked about WRT SYN2, though the ST4 engine with its elements and the SYN2 engine with its Wave Sets have very different capabilities, functions, and uses. Its kind of like the same or similar features are reworked in the different products. Hope all this tech talk is not off-topic for the Deals > Syntronik 2 Group Buy Thread.

Yup. In a TS2 MAX folder. Plus, from the SYN2 Installation I did on 4-15-2022 [image showing partial directory list of ST4 files removed to reclaim space] Will try to teach myself more about using and them (and creating my own with SYN2), though the ST3 video is what I expected based on what I read in the SYN2 manual. Pretty simple concept found in lots of gear over the decades. Just gotta learn the names IK uses. The video is good for that! Thanks.

Good to know!!!! I looked for and found the *.st4m" files. I can try to track down where they are from. In the meantime, I am guessing if I add the location to my SYN2 Library Path and do a rescan (rebuilt the database), they will be added to SYN2. Maybe. PS: Some are in my TS2 MAX folder. Some are in a folder where I installed SYN2 temporarily on 4-19-2022. Will have to track down my pencil and paper notes to see what I installed at that time. "Stay tuned." ?

I have not used Syntronik Multis, but I am interested. Based on the discussion I searched to see if I have any since I have CS, SE, and Full (not MAX of any of the 11 new MAX ala carte Instruments). Under Public Documents > IK Multimedia > Syntronik 2 > Multis > Syntronik (possibly put there by the default IK PM) folders as follows: Bass (with 2 *.st3m files) Beat (with 27 *.st3m files) Groove (with 5 *.st3m files) Groove Splits (with 3 *.st3m files) Keyboard (with 1 *.st3m file) Lead (with 2 *.st3m files) Motion (with 2 *.st3m files) Pad (with 1 *.st3m file) Not sure where they came from (or how to use them, though I can assume); just sharing this in case somewhere down the line fans of Syntronik 2 want to make a User Data Base of Syntronik 2 "factory" resources. "Knowledge is Power" "Power to the People" PS: I found where the Multis are in SYN2, and they ones in the folder are all loadable (plus Default).

MME for the audio driver mode has not worked well for me over the past 10-15 years (at least). MME for the MIDI driver mode (v. UWP) works for me because my MIDI gear is older. It can be confusing to some since they are both "MME." I believe it stems from Multi Media Extensions. Not sure if it dates back to Win 3.1, Win 95, Win 98, before or after. [See Historical Notes below. ]Not sure why MME for audio is still listed as an option for today's PC, except so the software works on older computers and laptops, maybe. Doesn't the Cakewalk Reference Guide mention anything about avoiding the MME audio driver? I don't have mine handy, but according to SONAR 8.5 (c) 2009: So even "back then" MME (the audio mode) was not a first choice option. Historical Notes: "[WASAPI] is the current type of driver used in Windows 10, and supersedes MME (1991), DirectSound (1995), and WDM (1998)." "[Windows 3.1] was released to manufacturing on April 6, 1992, as a successor to Windows 3.0."

I agree that if you can get the saxist to redo it without the metronome, that would be the way to go. I did see videos showing how one of the Melda Production plug-ins could be used to analyze certain guitar noises (hum, string scrapes, etc.) and sort of remove/minimize them. I have not used that plug-in and I don't know if you could use it to isolate and analyze the metronome clicks and then apply that to remove them from the track/clip. If you absolutely cannot get a retake, an analyze and remove plugin might be worth a try. One time I had a nature recording (birds and things) recorded on a little recorder which produced a little "bzzzt" like every few seconds. I was able to edit those out in a short sample by finding the zero-crossings for the artifacts and removing the artifacts. That kind of repair work is also a last choice option.

This doesn't make sense to me. If you pay 49.99 for the GB and $149 minus 30% in Jam Points (roughly $104), the total paid is roughly $154. Why did you subtract the GB entry fee? Maybe there's a reason, but I don't see it. Are you saying that if you enter the GB and then buy MAX, IK will refund you GB fee? If you are saying that you can purchase MAX to get more SYN2 instruments IF the GB doesn't go all the way, to me that's still addition: the GB fee plus what you pay for MAX.

Holy Crappola!!!! How many different places have discussion threads on Syntronik 2? And maybe someone can give a brief overview of them--kind of like what each is best for. At the moment I'd be interested in a discussion group where participants exchange ideas related to synth engine uses for sound design, real time performance, etc. (including the other current and recent IK Synth Engines--Syntronik, Syntronik 2, ST 3, ST4, and also the IK Sample Editor). (NOTE: Not Twitter and Facebook)

How's the momentum going? On track for 33 for the price of 1 by the end of the GB?

PS: Even though its late in the day, I had not yet rebooted the FW-1884 so Windows 10 would do its Audio Endpoint Builder double check. As a result, Cakewalk did not see my ASIO Driver / audio lines, but ASAPI (Shared Mode) had them all! After power cycling the FW-1884, rebooting Cakewalk. and then switching from ASAPI to ASIO, Cakewalk running with the FW-1884 sees my plug-ins!!! (Including 26 new ones I must have forgotten I added.)
-
Re: The FW-1884: While it cannot be ruled out as an issue on the OPs PC (regardless of whether or not any such issue might impact VST3s not working), I just want to add a few things as long as @John Vere raised it as a possible issue. On my system (recognizing all systems are different) sometimes Windows doesn't see the driver (v1.80) at the start of the day until I reboot the FW-1884. I suspect a few things things but on my system: the only problem I have seen if I need to reboot is that the ASIO lines are not seen by Windows (and therefore software that replies on some of Windows' Sound Services). on my system, non-ASIO audio modes work until such time that I reboot the FW-1884 and Windows sees the ASIO lines. VST3s work as they should--even if I have not rebooted the FW-1884 to make sure Windows sees the ASIO driver properly. Let me be clear, blaming the FW-1884 for the OPs problem is premature. It might be problematic, but it is not necessarily problematic as concerns Cakewalk, VSTs, etc. On my legacy 2011 era system Cakewalk works quite well. And while I could push the PC beyond what its resources can handle, the PC, running Cakewalk with the FW-1884 can handle tens of hundreds of plug-ins -- probably not all at the same time, though.
-
Interesting. I never listened to the presets, though I got it as part of TS2 MAX. In ST4 it looks like I am seeing 100 presets which use sounds from Obie One and C30P samples.
-
Since the vst3s are in the OP's Plug-in Browser, doesn't that mean they were scanned? Related Question: does the Plug-in Browser show plug-ins that were not scanned? Or are you suggesting that if the default scan paths are not in the list, other plug-ins that have been scanned might show up in the Browser but might not work?

That SYN2 FAQ page seems longer than when I last looked at it. Might be a good idea to check it every so often. Thanks for posting the link, @telecode 101.

Yeah. That's why I like to rename stuff so I know what's what so it makes sense to me: HP (front) --> FW-1884 (7/8) (High Definition Audio Device) HP (front) tells me the audio is coming from my HP's front jack that runs into lines 7 and 8 on the FW-1884 but which Windows would just call "High Definition Audio Device" if I didn't personalize it. I really like need and depend on friendly names!!
-
I am looking at the settings on my PC now. I usually rename my devices at the Win 10 level. Not sure if I use Device Manager to access the Properties page for that. I'll have to track it down. I have my one of the two audio output jacks on the front of my PC renamed HP (front) --> FW-1884 (7/8) (High Definition Audio Device . . . .). I am looking at a Windows Sound Settings page that looks different than yours. Mine says "Choose your output device" and has an arrow in the box that allows me to choose. It doesn't say "Select a device you want to enable or disable." JMO: Windows doesn't make finding the right page easy. That's part of why I rename the devices at the Windows. I also change icons if possible. For example, if I have a PCI Card and I am using that, I use a PCI Card icon instead of the default. I will have to retrace my setup steps. PS: I am assuming you have something plugged into the headphones jack. I just pulled mine plug, Cakewalk detected the change (because Windows and/or the MoBo "Chip" said it was no longer connected), and Cakewalk asked me if I want to change my setup. This might take a while, so if something I say in the meantime solves it, please let me know! Double check: You are using WASAPI Shared, right? NEW: When I went into Device Manager after unplugging the headphone plug, I see that the MoBo/Chip/Windows system now lists the device as hidden. Not sure you know how to navigate there. On my system (might be different on yours): Device Manager > Audio inputs and outputs (expanded) shows what Windows sees and reports as my audio I/Os. Device Manager Menu Bar > View > Show hidden devices Since it is unplugged, "HP (front) --> FW-1884 (7/8) (High Definition Audio Device)" is greyed out. When I plug it back in, it takes about 10-15 seconds but: the MoBo/Chip/Codec detects the change, communicates somehow with Windows 10, Device Manager does an automatic refresh, and the "HP (front) . . . " device is no longer greyed out. [I assume that when I reboot Cakewalk it will be there] - sec Rebooted Cakewalk (I had closed it before.) Cakewalk detected the change and asked me about accepting the change. I think I said "OK." "HP (front) --> FW-1884 (7/8) (High Definition Audio Device)" is now in Cakewalk!!! Hope this helps. If so, I will revisit the above to prune it down by getting rid commentary on the process and just leaving the important steps.

Now that there is agreement, can this thread be closed before the hostilities escalate?

has anyone gotten EZDrummer3 to work in Cakewalk?
User 905133 replied to Bad Mac's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
JMO: If you are serious about wanting help solving what might be a user error problem, you really should stop starting multiple threads on the same exact issue and do some of what others have been suggesting.
