  1. I got the free version of Voltage Modular and after one day I found it was so "intuitive" given my early modular synth experiences of several decades ago that I upgraded to a paid version.
  2. Thanks for the offer, but I have found the form factor of Facebook problematic. How about Discord?
  3. It might not be a problem for most people, but in my experience there is a limited number of User *.lns [lower case LNS] files that will be shown in the workspaces dropdown. No folders in the list either. I'd like to be wrong about these, but I have bumped up against the limit with all my workspace tests. UPDATE: To confirm, I moved four unused Workspaces I did in April 2020 into a folder [Archives] within my User Workspaces folder. As expected, they did not appear in the drop down list; however, four others at the bottom of the alphanumerical list (previously not shown) were there. I am getting a constant maximum of 49 user workspaces between the separator after "None" and before the separator for the factory workspaces.
  4. Ahhhhh. Thanks for the clarification. I see that in the PRV, the Erase Tool also works for selectively erasing CCs (or anything else I wanted to delete).
  5. So, I took a look at the PRV and tried that ^^^ with my test recording. Nice to know editing can be done in there, too. One of these decades maybe the PRV will become "intuitive" for me.
  6. Glad you figured it out before I was able to re-create something to undo in the PRV. For me tweaking the Event List comes naturally. I'll let someone else speculate how the sustain got there in the first place. Changing CC64 = on to off is handy!!! If you wanted to add an event (such as a CC64 = off) that's pretty handy, too.
  7. Since I don't use the PRV or automation lanes, I would either (1) go into View > Event List and (1a) delete/move the final CC64 that's causing the sustain or (1b) manually add a CC64 off where I want it off, or (2) record [overdub] a CC64 on/off where I want the sustain off. You probably can do something from the CC64 lane, too, but I can't tell you how to do it. I am trying to create something that looks like yours to see if editing the event list as I mentioned (1a) would affect the block your image shows.
  8. Not sure I understand what you did or how you did it, but have you tried turning sustain (CC64) off at the point where it sustains past where you don't want it to sustain?
  9. I looked at that thread yesterday. While there were some useful ideas and some respectful feedback, there were also a number of "she said/he said" posts. Not sure there are new issues and ideas that haven't already been brought up here. Also, there was some mild nastiness ("Before you call me a liar you should . . . .") that seemed to be directed towards provoking in-kind reactions. As for using that forum for "what matters most," I don't think any social media forum can be representative of what's important to users at large. It might be a good place for people who want to vent to find people who agree and for fans to tell them they are wrong. Don't get me wrong: I have participated in other threads in the forum. Those were all informative, respectful discussions, not battlefields.
  10. I like changing the instrument parameters to change the sounds; seems far more "intuitive" than selecting randomly named bass presets. As for cost, I got mine "free." I had tried to get ST3 mid-2020 but was told by IK it hadn't been available for a long time (since ST4 came out). Then a few months later, TS2 MAX was on sale and it had ST3!!!!! So I got that and a whole bunch of other "freebies," one of which was MODO BASS! ?
  11. Re: Pilot Every time I hear a certain drug commercial (seems like 100 times a day but its probably only 10-20), I recognize the song ("It's Magic") and think, "I should look up who did the original." But I was never motivated enough to do the search. So, thanks for looking it up!!!
  12. This reminds me, several months ago I watched what I thought was an excellent tutorial series on the full version of AAS Strum GS-2 (Groove3, Eli Krantzberg). I believe it is free for GS-2 users courtesy of AAS. I am not sure if it is free for AAS Player/Swatches and Strum Session users. If so, knowing what's under the hood might be insightful for others as well. You don't have to watch the full set of tutorials which show the editable parameters in the full version.
  13. Over the past year or so, I have seen what looks like a major effort to add Cakewalk help materials on the Bandlab site, but I haven't looked in a few months. This page looks like a great resource for new users of Cakewalk [CbB].
  14. Not sure this fits your specific needs, but maybe: For improvised textural music, I generally had a knob on my controller set to CC64. Real time layering involved playing on any number of 16 MIDI channels (playing notes, tweaking CCs, etc.). So, a basic strategy was turning the CC knob up (sustain on = 64 - 127) to lock in a sound or down (off = 0 - 63) on a per channel basis to trigger the sound's release cycle. At the end, instead of turning all layers [channels] off at once (such as by using a global [all channels] panic button), sustained channels were turned off one by one by using the CC64 knob and going through all 16 channels (or however many were used). Lately, I haven't used this performance modality (since I started seriously exploring the use soft synths), so I am unsure if this would work with all or some current soft synths. The hardware sound modules I used like this were pretty consistent in their use of CC64 (and many others CCs specified by the midi specs if implemented). Again, just a thought [set up a CC64 knob/button on your controller] in case it helps.

    How to never dock

This has come up before. So far, I found just one place, but I seem to recall other discussions. Not sure if there has ever been a formal request.
  16. Since one or two posts were On Topic ("2 AAS sound bank free") maybe the Topic should be change to what people have been discussing and a new one for the AAS banks created? Or is that putting the vehicle before the bull?
  17. [Off Topic] Some of us have no need for a "Smart" phone with an unlimited phone and/or data plan for emergencies while away from a home landline. For some of us, a basic "Non-smart" flip phone with a grandfathered ten cents a minute plan works. [On Topic] That being said, a smart phone (or tablet) that works via wi-fi (no satellite-based phone/data plan) can host apps that can be used with Cakewalk if it is on a PC with wi-fi. Before my tablet died, I used Touchdaw (and some free apps) to communicate and control music software on a PC. It can definitely be helpful for some purposes. As usual, it depends on your personal workflow.
  18. A couple of diagnostic questions: (1) What did you do on your main monitor when the one you show here goes black? (2) What Workspace are you using?
  19. I don't have SONAR Platinum any more. (I just had the demo version and never liked subscription models). But I am curious to know if the Synth Rack Button back then was one of the "widgets" under the control of the Track Control Manager. I don't see it there in Cakewalk by Bandlab, but I do see the Synth Rack Button in the Control Bar's Custom Module--which is affected by Workspaces [that is, we can choose to have different buttons for our different, custom Workspaces]. Not critical to know; I was just wondering, in part because it is relevant to "Missing Feature" diagnosis.
  20. This brings back memories! Seriously, my first one was free through my health insurance--partially through my premiums, partially through my employer's premiums. When I get to have another one, I hope my old person insurance covers it, partially though my supplemental insurance and partially though my insurance paid for through employee/employer salary deductions over the years.
  21. Sometimes having multiple degrees and certifications qualifies people for being Over Qualified!! It's probably a corollary of The Peter Principal: Some people don't want to hire other people who they think might know more than they do. ? Decades ago I learned never to score 100% on a civil service clerical worker test. Best to get at least two wrong on purpose! ? ? ?
  22. Welcome to the Officially Old Person Society. OOPS!!!
