Sorry to tell you this but well after I solved the problem on my PC and after I reported the problem to Support, I downloaded the the files again. They were still malformed. I did get a reply with a little video showing me how to fix it--one of two methods I already knew worked. Maybe they fixed it after I reported it? Is that what you mean by it "was fixed shortly after the issues were reported?"
-
Thanks!! I thought I had it fixed,** but I didn't check all of the Syner-V presets until today and still had the "Instrument ST4 error . . . ." I found the misplaced Sound Content folder in the wrong spot. I looked at the downloaded zip files for Syner-V and sure enough Parts 3 and 4 are malformed. The Sound Content is buried within a second Sound Content folder. This explains why the correct solution is to move them up to the correct Samples folder (the folder that has the other Syner-V parts correctly installed ). PS: I reported this to support. So, when product manager handles the malformed zip files, the second Sound Content folder gets placed into the Samples folder and the Syner-V folder with the sample files themselves doesn't get put into right spot (until we follow Dave's fix). **CORRECTION AND UPDATE [2022-06-01]: Previously I fixed the GS-V issue. So when the Syner-V issue came up, I was actually remembering the GS-V issue/solution. I just downloaded the Syner-V files again. They are still malformed. According to information on the internet, there may also be issues with other Syner-V files.

I had this tonight with the Syner V installation using the IK Product Manager. 2022-05-20 Update: See Dave Schreier's post below. It looks like malformed Syner V *.zip files (Sound Contents) caused the "Instrument ST4 Error." Dave's solution is to move them to the right place.

sysex = System Exclusive. It is a type of MIDI data. It exists so there is a common framework [data structure/format] for manufacturers to have data specific for their unique products/product lines. The sysex spec states the initial and ending byte and the format for the command header. When specific gear receives a sysex command, it should ignore any such commands not intended for that gear. So, if a lengthy command intended for one synth comes along, other gear can ignore it after the product data bytes until the end of the data chain. from a Korg Patch Dump (header and end of file/transmission marker in hex, aka Base 16): I don't use MuseScore so I have no idea how it uses sysex. You'd have to check the MuseScore manual. As for Cakewalk, if you look in the Online Documentation Index and search for "Sysx" (such as by using Ctrl-F for find in a browser search bar), you can read up on how to access system exclusive data/banks/commands in Cakewalk. Also, you might be interested in the full Cakewalk Reference Guide. -
OY!!! Are we now going to get post after post based on the original thread from March, just because someone new decided to add their own "I'm done with Cakewalk" rant? If so, I will join in with my own rant. When relationships break up, some people tell all their friends and make the worst case for how bad the partnership was, often blaming the other partner. Other people say to themselves, "It wasn't the right match" and move on. Often those in the second category remain on good terms. OK. Done with rant. Thank you for listening.

First off, I looked on line for Arminator and I found Arminator 2 which is described as being for Windows 32-bit systems. "Arminator 2 is a vsti for 32bits Windows only." It appears to have been made with Synth Edit. Is that what you are using? I have gotten ancient 32-bit soft synths working on my Windows 10 PC in Cakewalk with BitBridge. But Animator 2 causes endless *.sem file not found errors. What I had in mind was to look for a program change command in the event list, but that was assuming it was a current soft synth. But if it uses *.sem files [Synth Edit Modules], the issue might not be so easy to track down. I thought I had test driven other ancient soft synths from Krakli before. I'd have to boot my XP SP3 PC. -
UPDATE: See Tom B's post immediately following this post. He has distilled the Product Manager Method to the basic steps so there's no need to consult the manual or the FAQ sheet. Thanks! (I'll have to join the SYN2GB just to try it with the new SYN2 only synths. I think there is, but you'd have to read the Product Manager manual. After several attempts, I found it easier for me to install the content files individually. I know Peter says to use the Product Manager. There's a FAQ sheet that might help. Perhaps you can get to it using the IK Support navigator and choose "Syntronik." It might be covered in FAQ 1423. The FAQ is too busy for me (takes to long to parse), so I just doing it intuitively--probably what you would call a PITA: Find *.zip sound content file(s) for the SYN2 instruments, unzip it/them, run the installer, click the agreement, set the path, etc. I assume that's what you mean by "signal path." For me its much easier than using the Product Manager which involves clicking the dots, etc. IIRC. That didn't work for me. Maybe you can get it to work.

There could be a number of causes. If it were me, I'd start by looking in the MIDI Event List. -

2024-01-27: Image show PRV with hot colors deleted Quick test using arbitrary colours chosen in the Theme Editor. As for transposing, if you want to transpose all notes in a midi track up x number of steps or down x number of steps, you can do that. See the index in either the on-line documentation or the Cakewalk Reference PDF. Footnote: In the image you posted, I don't see any white so since I had no idea what you meant, I just changed a bunch of colors using Cakewalk's Theme Editor. For more information on using the Theme Editor, see the guide put together by Colin Nicholls and posted in this thread. Another option is to change colors via [P]references: -
Yup, as an "owner" of Total Studio MAX 2 which included Amplitube 4 MAX, I remember being confused (along with many others here) about the VIR Technology issue when AT5 came out. IK was kind enough to give me Amplitube 5 SE and therefore I got the VIR Technology for out AT4 gear as well as for new gear in AT 5 SE. I don't remember who else would have gotten Amplitube 5 SE at the time, but other "owners" of AT4 might want to check the website under My Products to see if they also got AT5 SE.

CATO looks good! Congrats!! I hope the installation of the others go well (or show up properly if you already installed them), too. BTW, once I get the library paths working, I take a png screen capture and save it--just in case I decide to fiddle with it and muck it up.
-
From what I can see, you only have one plus a duplicate. I had triplicates a day or two ago for just one of my synths (SYN2, old instrument) due to erroneous paths. I think I had two different paths that had the same content. CATO Saw No Sub is from CS. I solved my issue by fixing what I had for the Library paths. It will probably be different paths than what I have. I used my existing ST3 path for the old stuff. (I had relocated that to an external HDD.) I installed my SYN2 content one by one** on F:\SYN2, an internal SSD--just for IKM Sound Content installation!!! Hope this helps. **I did this while Syntronik 2 was open. When each instrument was installed (one at a time), the software automatically started the rescan. It took longer, but I got to see it in action. I did that for maybe 2 or 3 (maybe 4) instruments, and then I did the rest of my SYN2 content files--still one at at time, just not watching the rescan. I know Peter says to let the Product Manager do it, but I prefer to see as much of the process as I can. Mainly so when it doesn't work, I can take responsibility for re-doing it. BTW, the first time I installed the Syntronik 2 Instruments, (1) I previously had a SYN2_CS folder and a SYN2_SE folder so I could verify what each had and then (2) I excluded those paths when building the SYN2 folder one content file at a time. If you have CATO, you might want to install that alone to a new/unique SYN2 folder and then just have that and your ST3 path in the library. Or you could contact IK Support. As usual, I defer to other users who have experience with installing the SYN2 content for the new instruments. I only have them for the Syntronik2 Full. They should work the same way, but you never know.

Did you check your Library paths?

The way to fix it is to get rid of Workspaces. In fact the way to solve any feature that confuses people is to get rid of it. OR, the default could be Advanced so everything is enabled on new installations with no way to change Workspaces unless Workspaces is enabled (by a deliberate change of preferences). CLARIFICATION: I just realized that anyone stumbling onto this post might not realize I was being sarcastic. "In fact the way to solve any feature that confuses people is to get rid of it," was too subtle a hint. As a big fan of using Workspaces back then (as well as earlier and now), I was not seriously suggesting that Workspaces should be gotten rid of.

If the SYN2GB goes all the way, won't you have everything that's in Syntronik 2?
-
If misery loves company, I can relate with this one. I had it in my cart and then got "sidetracked" with a project.
-
I think its good that you don't include it in your tutorials. But in all honesty, you are hyperbolizing.

Initially I wondered about this [see quotes added below]. Are you sure that the downloads don't have all the wave sets to choose from in edit mode for the new presets for the previously owned instruments? I have CS, SE, and Full, so I was never sure, but it seems to me if you have the SYN2 Sound Content for 99 (for example), for the new presets you should have (1) the ability to edit the presets with the new Edit Panel, including (2) access to all the SYN2 wave sets for that Instrument. Are your Library paths set up to include both the *.st3 files and the *.st4 files for Syntronik 2? It doesn't make sense with what Peter and others have been saying all along (and which I believe): If the Group Buy goes the distance and users pick up and install all of the Sound Content files, they will have the equivalent of Syntronik 2 MAX (except for transferability). This quote from FAQ 1431 also seems to be saying that the new EDIT page and the Wave Sets require "the updated sound content created with the Syntronik 2 engine that are only available in the Syntronik 2 versions of the Synths." It seems to me that if you any of the Syntronik 2 versions of the Syntronik Deluxe Instruments such as the ones from the SYN2GB, you should have the new EDIT page and the Wave Sets.

Yeah!!!!! I stumbled onto CB's YT channel early on in the pandemic. JMO: great musicianship and great sense of humour.

I love his videos. Mondo respect. If this plug-in will give me 1/10,000,000ths of his abilities . . . . Does it have an algorithmic CB style arranger where I can just put in chords and switch articulations to sound like CB?

How to turn existing midi tracks to virtual instruments?
User 905133 replied to Don Schneider's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I was one of those who thought, "Why don't you just point the midi track to the soft synth?" I am struggling to understand why that is not the first thing people think of. -
Transfuser 2 by Air Music won't work in Cake? - Solved
User 905133 replied to LoopJunkie's topic in Instruments & Effects
Good information here to help others who might come along with AIR Music product issues, but as for @LoopJunkie the original issue looks [SOLVED]. (Please add to topic if it is indeed solved.) -
In my experience Notepad works well for editing *.ins files.

I thought this sounded familiar. Someone else was looking for it a couple of years ago!!!
