  1. Where are people finding the full set of multis? All I can find is the set of 30 that came with Syntronik 2 Full. I hope I don't have to de-authorize CS, SE, and Full, remove all the content, and start all over installing all 33 Instruments one-by-one using the Product Manager. That would also require deleting tons of Syntronik files from my PC and still risk not getting the multis. ?
  2. Re: Butt Kills sign. Yeah. I had a hard time trying to decide if it was a sexual preference slur or not.
  3. Not sure its unethical or a "Bait and Switch" tactic. Not sure they don't care. I tend to think its one of several communication issues. I agree its the best Syntronik 2 deal to date!
  4. This is a known problem. From what I have seen it predates the SYN2GB. I can't remember when I first encountered it. Its a trivial fix: Just download the other one and delete the one that for the other computer if you don't need it.
  5. Yup. As I said wrt my Syntronik 2 Full multis: they had instruments/presets that weren't part of the full version (in other words, they were from the MAX version) and they caused Syntronik 2 to crash. EDIT: That was May 9th. I am sure I had a later post where On May 25th I said that once I installed the 11 new Instruments, I didn't have the crashes. (See below.) I used Notepad with the files to search for InstrumentPath before I got the new ones.
  6. I looked at one or two and from what I saw, they have replacement (maybe supplemental?) sound content files. They are not very big. The largest one I have is for 99 (66,099 KB). Most are smaller than 15,000 KB). The install time for the update files is way quicker than the GB [Great Big!] Sound Content Installation. Just an FYI.
  7. Is Syntronik 2 working? Do you have all 33 Instruments and all the Generation 1 (SYN) and Generation 2 (SYN2) presets installed and working? If so, based on what I have seen CS [a super lite version] will not add anything you don't already have. The CS version of Syntronik 2 has a very small number of presets with a minuscule number of wave sets.
  8. Thanks for the clarification. It sounds like you narrowed down the problem. It might be the Surge Patch you are using. I just tried a handful at random. Some use Mod Wheel Data; some don't. I tried Dan Maurer > Lead > By The Way ... . It responds with what sounds like an overdrive effect. Each patch designer decides what parameter(s) CC 1 (aka Modulation) affects (or not). Found another Surge patch that uses the mod wheel: NoiseGeek > FX > Singing Space Saw. Check the Surge Manual for how to add/route CC1/mod wheel control to a patch where the patch designer hasn't used it (or you want to use it to do something different). I decided to teach myself. The manual has a section under "Sliders and Controls" called "Add Modulation From." Right clicking on sliders also has MIDI Learn. So, I took a brass patch, right clicked on F1 in the Filter EG section and moved my Wheel to assign it to that parameter. If I wanted, I could re-save the patch so it has my tweaks. By default, the Event List shows CC data. You can filter data types, though. If you filtered CCs out from the Event List, one way to see them is to right click in the Event List (beneath the header row). Make sure "Controller" has been checked. If the CCs were not recorded, there could be a number of reasons. Are you using Bandlab Assistant to update? Ever since the In-App "Check for Updates" feature was added, it has been super smooth for me: Menu Bar > Help > Check for Updates. I recommend it! Hang in there. Cakewalk is quite robust; so there's much to learn. I started with the MS-DOS version and am still learning features I have never or rarely used. I generally embrace learning new stuff. If you decide to stick with Cakewalk and you increase your personal knowledge base in byte-size-chunks, much of what seems difficult at first will probably become "second nature." Hope this helps.
  9. That's an oldie!!! Have you searched the forum for "Pentagon?" I can't imagine the issue hasn't been brought up before. https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/search/&q=Pentagon&quick=1
  10. I thought it does. There are two shades of grey that were hard for me to tell apart at first. Confirmed on my PC: SYN2 Instruments previously selected are slightly lighter (like 5-10%) and get skipped over. Maybe its different on different computers? on different browsers?
  11. (1) This is an old thread. (2) It might be confusing because you are reading the results of problem solving over a span of 3 months at a single sitting. (3) Based on (a) your newness to Cakewalk (and possibly MIDI) and (b) the lack of details, it might be better to start a new thread. Also, I know that there are other threads that address mapping and using MIDI data that might be better for you. Also, I highly suspect there are video tutorials that might be better for you. BUT, here goes. I am assuming you understand (1) your MIDI gear (a) hardware and/or (b) soft soft synths, (2) what midi data is and how it is used to communicate, and (3) what CCs are and how to use them, including mapping and routing in general, and that your only issue is how to route MIDI in Cakewalk and how to get CCs from one place to another in Cakewalk. As you presumably know, MIDI is data, not sound. Assuming you have an instrument track (which combines audio and midi and is often used for soft synths) and you have successfully recorded MIDI data which produces sound though a soft synth, to me this sounds like you want to record a layer of MIDI data using the mod wheel so that the soft synth responds to the additional MIDI data as well as what was previously recorded. Is this close? Did you look at the event list to make sure the Wheel data was recorded and if so, was it recorded in the right place? Old school personal preference (different people have different workflows): When I overdub CC data, I usually use a separate MIDI track, mostly because its easier for me to edit or delete if its not what I want. To do the CC overdubbing, I point the midi track to the synth (hardware or software). Since there are newer methods, I will drop out here and let others chime in with other methods. I hope that some of what I guessed at about what you are doing (whether correct or incorrect) helps.
  12. Good question--basically: if you have Syntronik CS and install all 33 of the new packs and then get/install the Multis when they come out, is it the functional equivalent of Syntronik MAX? This has been asked and stated, yes, but you would have limitations as stated in the Official Syntronik 2 Group Buy Rules--e.g., you cannot transfer them to anyone else, you need to keep the one you purchased in your account, and while you can transfer that one, you loose the promos and the transferee only gets the single instrument originally purchased. Its a log thread, but I will see if I can find the post where this was addressed. Here is where cclarry mentions it. Looking for a related post from Peter IK. Here is where the start of some more posts talking about the contents. I guess a follow up question might be: Does Syntronik 2 MAX include all the Generation 1 presets (Syntronik and Syntronik Deluxe) and if so, does the SYN2GB Instruments include those, too? The post from Peter says, YES! Did I miss anything?
  13. JMO: If you are in no rush (considering that you haven't had time to explore CS yet) and might upgrade to a newer Total Studio Max in the next year or two, you could set aside the money for the SYN2GB for the TS MAX Upgrade. But if you think the full set of 33 instruments might inspire you, its the best deal we've seen so far for Syntronik 2. As others pointed out, you don't have to install them all. Some of us got one instrument as a promo from a third-party vendor and another from a magazine promo. Each one installed separately. So you can treat all 33 as a personal monthly reward for a couple of years (if you decide to get them now)! If you go for it, I highly recommend at least choosing all of them as promos within 30 days. That should give you 180 days to try to find some space for the downloads. After that you can install them as needed. Also, Syntronik 2 will pick up your Classic Instrument Presets (Syntronik and Syntronik Deluxe) from the previously installed location. But, you might not want to uninstall the older Syntronik software itself. Some people have said some of the "Generation 1" presets sound different in Syntronik 2.
  14. If you haven't gotten it yet, there's still time to get and try the free CS version before the SYN2GB is over. For the most part it only has less than a handful of presets per instrument, but it would give you some hands-on experience with the new Syntronik 2 Edit Panel, the 4-layer architecture, etc. It has somewhere around 100 SYN2 presets. Personally, I don't think the presets in the CS version showcase the new instruments as well as others they could have chosen. The Jordan Rudess videos give a better idea, but even then, they are not intended to showcase the full diversity of the presets. PS: At one point I did an installation of CS in a separate folder: SYN2_CS on an SSD Drive. I just checked: Its 3.26 GB. I mention this in case you try it and want to set it up in a separate folder for easy deletion if you decide its not for tou.
  15. Did you add the 1 for the first on purchased? Nope; 32 promos not there yet for me either. 1 purchased + 10 promos downloaded + 21 available. Where's Deloitte, Haskins, and Sells, or whatever they are now called? Looked it up: "Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu" . In any case, congratulations to all the winners!!!
  16. In my experience, yes, MODO DRUM 1.5 SE picks up the MODO DRUM 1 kits. What we don't know (so far as I can tell) is if MODO DRUM 1.5 Full has something (such as a feature, etc.) that the combination of MODO DRUM 1 + MODO DRUM 1.5 SE doesn't have. From what I have seen, it is not safe to assume that just because we have all of the kits there aren't other differences.
  17. Thanks. This is only my 2nd GB ever, so I didn't realize remember I couldn't double up on ones I already had. The two shades of grey (chosen and not yet chosen) look 99% the same to me, but the 1% lighter ones cannot be selected. (Can't call them greyed out!!) Your rationale for not letting them sit and rot in cyberspace makes sense.
  18. So, let me ask for some thoughts on this, I have Syntronik 2 Full as part of a TS Bundle and I picked up the 11 new SYN2 Packs with the GB. Is there any reason for me to use the additional promotions--other than for the potential to try to sell the TS Bundle? If so, are there reasons to get duplicates (from the GB) for the 22 Classic Packs v. duplicates of the 11 new ones?
  19. Interesting. I never tried having CbB try to convert different types of files at the same time. Thanks for the tip--just in case I am tempted to do that for real. I tried as a test, and the presence of an mp4 file caused CbB to have an immediate shut-down type crash. Nice to know that even at my age I still have room to lean new things! (Thanks for that, too!)
  20. I deleted a question ("By any chance are you trying to import a compressed file?") after I tried Menu > File > Import with the zip file I was using as a test because CbB didn't even see it. I just tried the drag and drop method with an mp3 file in a zip file and all I get in the circle with the line through it. I am interested to know what method the OP used to get that message. I did get a file not supported message when I tried to import a file that was 0 bytes long. Maybe there's a size limit?
  21. I just did a quick test by dragging some mp4 and ogg files into Cakewalk. It worked. I dragged the files from a file window (I use "Everything") onto an audio track. I also tried the Menu Bar > File > Import > Audio method. That worked, too. Its hard to tell what you might be doing wrong because you haven't stated the steps you took. http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Recording.32.html Have you looked at the format of the files under the file's Properties > Details? Maybe that info might be helpful to diagnose the problem you are having.

    New release

Since the current release caused problems for you, have you tried rolling it back to the previous release since that seemed to work for you?
  23. I just did a couple of quick tests of the MODO BASS 2 CS VST3 plug-in within CbB (an 8 bar pattern and a 4 bar pattern). Both recorded and played back OK.
