About Me

  1. Synchronous selection of channels (tracks): Numbers & Name. Auto Focus. Problem... 1. I have Instrument track (VSTi) 2. I have other track (AUDIO). 3. I select Audio track. 4. I have midi clip in Arrange. 5. I select this midi clip. 6. Press midi-keyboard. - Don`t have sound... I`m sad... I need manual click by track name! 7. Press midi-keyboard - have sound I am happy. Now I can play & record. This is like in Piano Roll - Multitrack edit - Auto Focus. This otions you can add to Option Menu. 😉 > " Auto Focus"or "Synchronous selection of channels (tracks)" or "The full selection of track" or "Select MIDI for the selected track"...
  2. Hi. Midi note: to change the duration without changing the start and end of notes New Smart instrument... In Studio One I press Alt and move mouse.... Studio One 4.5 https://i.imgur.com/Fa7cz3q.gif Reaper 5.9 https://i.imgur.com/1iGN7bX.gif In the Reaper, this is done automatically without pressing the function keys. It would be nice to have that in Sonar

  4. Hello! I try to automate the stereo balance of the track by LFO using MIDI Shape shifter. I found this instruction http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3198292 OK, Octave down/up works fine. But nothing happens when I try to pick preset "LFO" fnd attach the Pan fader to MIDI CC 7 Ch 1. What am I doing wrong? There's a photo of my adventures
  5. going to try to explain this as best as I can... I recently got hold of a minilogue XD, so want to use it in my projects, i have 2 options, sequence it using the piano roll or play live. Ive got a keylab MkII and the XD connected to the PC, the keylab is sending midi to cakewalk, and i can set the output of a midi track to the XD so i can play it live with more keys. This works fine. However, if i sequence the XD from a midi track, the sequence is played back late, about 75-100ms from my testing, BUT, if i route the keylab as the input for the track and play live, in time to say, a drum beat, there is no delay from my keypress. If i record the midi in from the keylab to the piano roll, it records in time to when i press the keys (at the same time outputting to the XD which i'm monitoring, which is also perfectly in time), however, playing back this recorded midi sequence is not in time, there is a delay from each midi note. to be clear, there is NO delay when laying live (keylab --> cakewalk midi track --> minilogue XD), but there is a delay when playing a sequence (midi track piano roll --> minilogue XD). This is not an audio monitoring issue as there is no latency when playing live, this is not a driver issue as there is no latency playing live, it seems like some hidden midi track piano roll buffer that only exists when playing a sequence. notably however, this does not occur sequencing an internal soft synth. if you don't understand what i'm on about, just mention in the replies...
  6. I'm trying to set up midi input from both these devices, both are connected via USB and the drivers are all functioning correctly. i have used the rapture microhost and both the XD and keylab can input midi. I have all relevant input and output ports selected for the devices in the midi manager, i can select these for midi and instrument tracks, however, with both the keylab input and XD input selected, only the XD will actually input midi to a track, its as if the keylab gets disabled, i have to disable the XD midi input in the midi settings to get the keylab working again. I also cant output midi to the minilogue XD, using a midi track with the input from the keylab and output to the XD yeilds no results, as it is not recieving midi from the keylab. I have tried the exact setup (keylab midi in -> minilogue XD midi out) in another DAW and its working fine and i can use both the XD and keylab together fine in that DAW too, but cannot get both to work simultaneously in cakewalk (in fact, i cant even get a midi track to output to the XD even if its elected as the output port) Help!
  7. Hey all, this is Andy. Please allow for a hopefully simple question regarding automation of real time controls via the AZ Controller control surface. First of all, I was able to setup remote control for CC MIDI messages and SysEx messages (master fader) for a CME UF6 master keyboard. I am struggling with transport control, because the SysEx commands seem to be filtered out through CbB. Internally generated MIDI RT events work as expected. A MIDI monitor shows that the commands are sent by the keyboard and received through the interface. In general one can allow SysEx data to be recorded through the CbB preferences (Edit > Preferences > MIDI - Playback and Recording > Record / System Exclusive). This setting is important for the control surface (AZ Controller) to be able to listen to SysEx events. For some reason however this does not include real time SysEx events (such events that do not start with F0). What could be the reason that events like "Play" (FA 00 00*) and "Stop" (FC 00 00*) are not passed through to the AZ Controller control surface? Is there another setting in CbB that filters these events out? Your help would be much appreciated! Update after further research * MIDI Monitor may display the bytes of the MMC real time messages in a different order than these are sent, and may also omit an information (Device ID). The displayed command codes FA/FC seem to be non standard. Because of this it is now no longer clear to me if the sent messages are compatible to AZ Controller's MIDI RT entries. It is however confirmed that CbB understands the real time messages in MMC sync mode (set as slave device with the keyboard as master).

    Paste Special

In my Sonar Platinum I could easily paste midi data from the clipboard into a Sonar midi track by highlighting the track and using Paste Special. Voila! However, using Bandlab Cakewalk, when I try using Paste Special to get that data, nothing happens. No popup window with paste options. Nothing. Zip. Therefore, no midi data imported into track. When I open up a basic Sonar project (two tracks: audio - midi) and try using the Paste Special item, it works perfectly. So, this is an obvious Cakewalk bug or a feature that I cannot figure out how to use. Would someone please give instruction as to how to make this work? Thanks! Bob
  9. So, after recording a MIDI track, I did end up missing a couple notes and decided to go edit the notes in piano roll, rather than re-record that section. However, I seem to be having all sorts of problems simple adding notes to an input(I have been programmed into simplicity with how FL Studios edits midi, so I'm coming off just click to add); am I missing something? I sometimes have to double click to even add a note, honestly.
  10. Hi Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction with a problem I'm having. I've used Sonar X3 Producer with Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 for a few years quite happily, and often connect my Yamaha midi keyboard to my Komplete Audio 6 interface, in order to play virtual instruments live through Sonar. It still works fine now. Recently I treated myself to the new Komplete Audio 6 Mk 2. Initially I had some audio signal latency problems, which I managed to fix. However I'm still having problems with playing virtual instruments through my Yamaha keyboard. Although I've made sure the latest driver and firmware update is installed, I can now only play one note at a time when using the Mk 2, and either Sonar or the interface also thinks the note is playing forever. I can see that from the virtual representation of the on -screen keyboard that the key is still being held down, when it isn't. If I press the key on the virtual keyboard curing my cursor, it works fine, but not if I generate the signal from my external Yamaha keyboard - which is no good for playing in live time. I'm sure there must be an easy way round this. I've rarely bought anything that didn't have to be tweaked or reconfigured before it worked perfectly, so where there's a will, there's usually a way - this one has me stumped. I've tried changing midi cables and re-installing the driver but no luck. Does anyone have any ideas please? Thanks in advance. Andy
  11. I am relatively new to Cakewalk because I used it just a little until now. I am creating a track and some days ago I was able to set some midi groove-clips so they repeat: I put notes into a measure, then activated the groove-clip and edited its boundary. The groove-clips play as expected. Today I tried the same thing for the drum track but I experienced something strange: when I activate the groove-clip function on the clip (one measure) it stretches out up to the end of the song but it is like I changed its length, not the repeat range. So I end up with a long clip almost empty because just a measure has notes. What am I doing wrong? Thank you in advance
  12. I can't use anymore Roland JX-03 and Roland JU-06 because there is a bug in the MIDI channel selection. Since last update, when I select the MIDI channel assigned to one of the synth the sound is full of bugs.... whereas when I select any other MIDI channel the sound is playing perfectly... Is someone having the same problem with hardware synth and MIDI?
  13. I checked the Soft Synth software and supposedly it is supported. Is this the right way to do it?
  14. All of a sudden, my MIDI tracks lool like audio files set at maximum volume and then clipped. The piano roll reflects the blue track above. They play fine; I just don't like the looks of them. Hard to see what's going on. Any ideas?
  15. Hi guys, I’m pretty new to the whole producing thing, but everything’s been going fine until now. I was making music whilst traveling just using my keys on the laptop as MIDI input, with my headphones plugged in only. When I got home, I plugged my audio interface in too, and now I can’t hear anything in the tracks I made. I also can’t hear live feedback when I play MIDI instruments. I’ve tried changing my input and output settings so that none of them are from my laptop & are instead from my audio interface, but nothing seems to be working. Also tried changing the driver to ASIO & just about every other option available. Can anyone help? Thanks!
  16. Hello everyone, I have a problem with MIDI recording. I'm working on a huge project (+50 audio tracks , 1hour aprox) and I want to record live some MIDI instruments. But it doesn't seem to work. You can draw it manually, but not record it live via a MIDI controller. I did it before, when the project wasn't so big and it worked. And when starting a new project, I add an instrument and everything works. So everything seems to be a problem of CPU space. But I made a copy, deleted every track except from one general mix and it didn't work. But then again, I didn't save and reboot, so I'm not sure. I'm thinking about freezing some tracks, but I'm not sure. Can I save the project with freezed tracks and unfreeze them afterwards? Thank you for your help. My gear is an i7 3rd gen processor with SSD Drive for CPU and a external 1 Tb HDD for Data. My MIDI controller is Arturia Keystep 32, and the VI I'm using is LABS by Spitfire Audio. But I changed the controller and the VI and none helps

  18. Im having some trouble configuring my Maschine MK2 into Cakewalk to do the midi stuff I want it to do. I literally have no idea what to do.
  19. Something simple ... Add the .midi extension to those recognized by Cakewalk when you try to open a midi file. These files come from the OSX platform. These are simple midi files but because of the extension are not visible when we try to open them through the Cakewalk application. You have to change the extension from .midi to .mid so that it can be read by CbB..
  20. I have been pulling what is left of my hair out trying to hear and or see my soft synths being manipulated by my LPK25 MIDI Keyboard Controller. I have changed so many settings in so many places I am just lost! I have worked in the computer world for over 25 years, Engineering, Licensed Surveyor, Geographic Information Systems Director and Developer and this Audio stuff is hard to understand, hurting my ego, lol! Oh, I was a musician in the mid 70's for 6 years. What are the separate areas or parameters that need be set up and in what sequence? I see Audio settings and MIDI Devices "in-out", ASIO and EEM and Microsoft? What should I do in what order? I simply want to record synths/music with my headphones using my VST's and Akai LPK25. Thank you for any help, this old hippy needs some help.
  21. Hi everyone! I am using Cakewalk about one week and I have a question. How can I make same plugins not to depend on each other? At the picture you can see that I set some plugins on first channel with sampler but this plugins also work at the second channel (as you see, there is not any plugins on second channel) and I really don't know how to solve this case. I worked in FL Studio and there was button "make unique" etc. Maybe this button also exists in Cakewalk?👌 I just wanna make these channels independent and use plugins independently on every channel. Best wishes and thanks for attention

  24. Is it possible nowadays to loop record a drum VST now so that each take you're recording a separate instrument and building the drum beat by making multiple passes? aka the first pass I do kick drum, then the next pass I do snare and I hear the kick drum from the last pass, and so on? Previously that was not possible.
  25. Hi! I have an Midi Fighter 3d and I want to remap each midi note from it to another midi note so I can use it as an Midi Instrument. Is there a way to do this?
