    SNOW DREAMS

Beautiful!! I think that I remember this one. Mark's guitar work is perfect and Warren's bass really carries the song along. Eva's vocals are excellent! The mix is very well done. What more would anyone want. Great stuff y,all.
  3. First of all my apologies for being late in responding. It has been a bad combination of the holidays, CoVid (my son and sister), and my computer being cranky and needing some TLC by someone that knew what they were doing. Hi Tim. Thank you very much and I am much in agreement. It would be nice if the Christmas feeling could last the whole year long! In answer to your question, no I don't normally use a doubler or double track an individual vocal track. This particular song only has one lead vocal and one harmony track. It was pretty much raw -- from microphone to the Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 interface. On the track itself a little EQ was performed and that was it. Thanks again. Hi tom. The drums were clips. One was from Beta Monkey (usually I have found them to be quite adequate) and the fills including high hat and crash cymbals were from --- I have no idea. I think that some of the problem with the over-sizzling is that they were from two different sources. I will need to see if I can get them better EQ'ed, balanced and ?. Ya -- you are right about the vocals. We are coming on hard with pollen season (Cedar, Maple, and Oak) with counts ranging around 10 to 11. That is high and not helpful for folks with allergies. Maybe in about 3-4 weeks I will be able to re-do them. I think I may also have to look at some minor timing issues near the end also. As always, I very much thank you taking the time to listen and I appreciate your suggestions. Hi Nigel. Thanks for listening and commenting. I shall take tom's comments to heart as I will yours. Thanks again. Hi Bjorn. Thank you very much Bjorn. I appreciate the encouragement!
  4. First of all my apologies for being tardy in responding. It has been a bad combination of the holidays, CoVid (my son and sister), and my computer being cranky and needing some TLC by someone that knew what they were doing. Hey Jesse. Happy New year and many thanks for listening and commenting. Thank you Hidden Symmetry! I appreciate the kind words about this number and the Christmas song post. Hi Ron_Pko. Thanks for taking time to listen and for the kind comments. Hi Leadfoot. I must admit that I like the Little Richard version best but I could never present it as did he. The Everly's version was hard enough. Thanks very much for listening and for the encouraging comments.
  5. Here is one for the holiday season. A little story about a guy whose "baby" just loves watching Christmas and holiday movies. She loves watching the Christmas in July series that is shown on one of the channels in ..... yes, July. She wonders why we just can't seem to keep that holiday goodwill feeling all year long. BTW, it was my wife who was the inspiration for this song. I was stricken with allergies during the recording and the vocals are a bit rough, particularly the last chorus (a bit of timing problems). Therefore, before I make changes, I very much would appreciate some input, comments, crit.'s, etc. Thanks and happy holidays to all!! 6. Really cool, interesting number. The video (pictures and fades with the reel to reel tape) was creative. This has a nice cinematic sound. And yes, that is some impressive guitar work! Cool indeed!
  7. That was a great ride Bats!! Excellent guitar work - including a nice driving bass . Very nice changes -- particularly coming in around 1:57. Was that the train coming into the station. Oh yes - great mix!
  8. Hi Phono Brainer! I love that aqua green color that was used around that time. Great photo! My first car was a 1957 Ford (used - about 10 years old). The radio looked similar with no push buttons. After the comments from Lynn and you - yup, I remember that sound! The treble was up and there was little bottom. The drums were usually present but soft, as was the bass. The lead and rhythm guitars were OK and the vocals dominated. I was doing this song from memory (from what ever that band's name was) and it must have carried over. Thanks very much for the kind comments!!
  9. Hi Nigel. Thanks very much for listening and the comments. I appreciate it! Have a safe trip back to S. Africa! Hi Batsbrew. Nice to hear from you. I appreciate your kind comments and thanks for taking the time to listen and comment! There is indeed only one Little Richard! Hey Allan. I would probably break my larynx if I tried to do any of Little Richards stuff. I compliment myself that I am clever enough not to try. I am glad that you enjoyed it and thank you for the kind words! Hi Bjorn. Nah, I don't have the courage to try and emulate Little Richard. For an old fossil like me, the Everly Brothers version was enough of a challenge. I glad that you enjoyed it and thanks for the kind words and encouragement. Thank you Andy. Thanks for the kind words and I'm glad that you enjoyed it! Hi Lynn. I was fortunate to see the Everly's a couple of times when my wife and I lived in Toronto. They looked a bit older but still sounded great. Oh ya, they also demonstrated some of their infamous bickering while on stage. I appreciate you kind words. Thanks for listening and commenting!

    Good Or Bad

I really enjoy that you are trying many different styles of songs. I particularly like that you are getting a message across but are not overselling the song (vocals). IMHO in so much of what one hears from the commercial sources, the vocalist ruins it by overstatement and overselling (performance, lyrics, etc.) to the point of annoyance. Sorry for the run-on sentence. Nice on Jack!
  11. That cranked up guitar panned hard left gave this number a wee bit of a punk-like feel. Love --- ain't it grand! Cool stuff Jesse!!!
  12. You do have a talent for weaving sounds into a tapestry of enjoyable listening. I certainly would not be opposed to A TD 4 but I always look forward to anything new from your.
  13. This song has definitely captured the Brazilian sound and the second try sounds much better. I agree with the above comments - the sax sounded absoflippinlutely great! I also appreciated your use of the vibraphone (sounded as good as the sax). Excellent work!
  14. Hi RikF. Thanks very much for taking the time to listen and for the kind comments. Much appreciated and I'm glad that you liked it. Hi Jesse. I wish I could remember the name of the band that did the cover of the Everly Brothers" arrangement of the Little Richard original - gasp for breath -- the band that prompted me to do this cover, I mean!. Thanks very much for the kind words. BTW, I loved your new post "Leave Your Phone At Home" -- most cool! Hey Wookie. Thanks for listening and commenting! Loved your recent post (TD 2). Hey tom. Thanks for posting the original and originator of "Lucille" I remember the first time I heard it --- I was floored! The Everly Brothers I would try, but I would never attempt to try Little Richard. Only Little Richard can do Little Richard. If I did try I would probably tear up my vocal cords and break something else of my physicality. Thanks for listening and your encouragement!!

    TD 2

"It has to be fun 🙃 no point if there is no fun." Amen to that! I also made it to the end but I enjoyed it so much that the end came much too soon. This in spite of the fact that I have a tempestuous relationship with things synth, MIDI, etc, ; the fact that I can't do it well; and I am not conversant in the language of this genre. I always enjoy the songs that you post and look forward to the new ones. Well done my furry friend!!!
  16. Hi Lynn. This song really demonstrates your style. You do write some great lyrics and your vocals certainly complemented the angst of the lyrics. As always, you come up with some great guitar accents and leads. I too was caught off guard at the end but doggone -- it works -- cool! Oh yea that bass line really drives it along. Great work pal!!!
  17. The pie was delicious, thank you! This song was also a treat. Loved that guitar panned right and I agree with the sentiment of the song! It doesn't really sound like them but for some reason this song reminds me a wee bit of the Gang of 4 (the band). Most COOL!
  18. What an interesting piece. Love the funky feel to this and the ending. There are a lot of change ups, different, instrumentation --- actually there is a lot going on ----- and it all works!!! It is most definitely COOL!
  19. I have often wondered how they did this type of singing. This is one of the most different song that i have heard and one of the most interesting. It is weird but you have compiled it all in to a piece that is actually quite beautiful ! Excellent work pal!!
  20. This is the first time (and probably the last) that I have submitted a cover song. A long time in a place far away, I was listening to our local community radio station when I heard this absoflippinlutely great rendition of the Everly Brothers arrangement of the Richard Penniman (Little Richard) song Lucille. For any "Youngbloods" reading this, that are not familiar with this song by these artist, I recommend that you go on YouTube and bend an ear to both the Everly and Little Richard recordings. Unfortunately, I did not get the name of the band but I quickly plugged in my guitar are recorded a couple of tracks of what I remembered. A while ago I ran across this this recording and finished it up. As always I would appreciate any comments, suggestions, crit's, etc. but as this is my first time (for a cover) please be gentle. Thanks. LUCILLE ( A COVER) https://www.soundclick.com/artist/default.cfm?bandid=963481
  21. Definitely a cool piece. It has a very cinematic sound to it and would complement the video of modern western or modern film noir movie. The change-up near the middle --- ya cool!
  22. Another enjoyable piece Jack. I must agree with Nigel --- the lyrics are worth bringing the vocal up. The vocals and instrumentation really work well!
  23. Excellent piece Bjorn! The science of the very large (Relativity) to the science of the incredibly small (Quantum physics) is absoflippinlutely mind boggling and this piece adds an visual and aural perspective. Boy -- you are getting good at this stuff!!

    TD 1

TD = Touch Down indeed! You earned the points on this one and I don't even follow football (American). Another masterful piece!
