If you are trying to monitor through the DAW, enable Input Echo on the track. The Input Echo button is just to the right of the Record button.
  2. scook's post in [SOLVED] No Sound from Instrument after Imported MIDI was marked as the answer
This would be my guess. Chances are Guitar Pro 7 is adding setup information to the exported files. This should be dealt with by modifying the program's export options.
Cakewalk sfz engine synths shut down when encountering unexpected data. Once the data is sent to the synth, it will make no sound until the project is shutdown and restarted. There are two ways to deal with the unexpected data in MIDI clips -
Open the clips in the Event List View and remove the offending data. Often the data is at the beginning of the clip. Deleting everything up to the first note may be enough or Enable "Don Not Intercept NRPNs" in the VST plug-in properties page for the synth

  3. scook's post in Auto Track Zoom for Keybinding has gone [Solved] was marked as the answer
    I don't miss it a bit.
The "Enter/Exit Auto Track Zoom Mode" function is exposed for binding in the "Track View" area.

I have no problem with the url in the OP

  5. scook's post in MIDI filter, zone/layer functionality was marked as the answer
Depends on the plug-in format. MIDI FX racks support MFX plug-ins only which are DX format. A few are included with CbB. There are a couple of sources for free and commercial MFX plug-ins too. All VST2/3 FX plug-ins must go into audio FX racks or the ProChannel. To communicate with VST plug-ins that support MIDI I/O, CbB requires dedicated instrument or MIDI tracks. Here is how the routing works for VST plug-ins.
While the name is a little misleading, a drum map may be used to split an incoming MIDI stream and route the data to different targets.
The included MIDI Event Filter MFX plug-in may be set up to filter notes, CC and other MIDI data.
    In short, this
is possible using the tools included with CbB.

  7. scook's post in Metronome Not Working Whatsoever was marked as the answer
Usually when the drop downs are not populated, the files did not get installed properly.
This may be corrected by holding the SHIFT key when starting CbB.
AFAIK, all the project templates have three buses set up:
a master bus a metronome bus a preview bus May be easier to start new projects by using one of the bundled templates until you get comfortable using the DAW.
  8. scook's post in [Solved] Start Screen Modification was marked as the answer
I forgot about the relatively new image feature in the notes browser ("F" in the image below). I cannot get the image to take in existing templates but they stick when creating new templates. For existing an template:
create a project from the template add an image to the project save the project save the project as a template

  9. scook's post in Edit step sequencer for new clips was marked as the answer
By default duplicate step sequencer clips are link, there is an option to unlink a step sequencer clip  on the tack view clips menu http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=0x1875B
To create a new step sequencer clip either close the existing step sequencer view, move the cursor to an empty spot on the MIDI track and open a new step sequencer view or right-click the step sequencer tab and lock its contents then open another step sequencer view.
  10. scook's post in EQing input was marked as the answer
CbB records the signal as it appears at the track input. This means before the track's plug-ins. It is possible to record a track and its plug-ins at the same time by routing the track to another track either using patch points or an aux track. Should also record the original track, just in case.

Convert MIDI Controllers to Envelopes but you may want to record as automation instead of CC data.

  16. scook's post in Migrating Dimension Pro was marked as the answer
    Use a directory junction.
There are a bunch of examples of how to create directory junctions using mklink in the old forum like this thread and this thread.
For more examples use this search string in Google
    site:forum.cakewalk.com mklink
  17. scook's post in Cakewalk won't play audio was marked as the answer
Try increasing the Playback using nnn Millisecond Buffers setting in preferences from 250 to 500 or 750. Some use much larger values.
If that does not fix the problem consider supplying more information such as
Hardware details - PC and Audio interface Software details - OS and DAW version info MIDI - whether using a third party MIDI file or entered manually. Project sample rate
  18. scook's post in Missing ProChannel menu option for individual PC Modules was marked as the answer
Possibly a scanning issue. PC modules are based on VST2 and must be scanned in order to show up in the menu.
The path to the PC Modules is stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\Cakewalk VST\VSTInternalPath
By default, CbB installs PC modules in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal which is used as the key and data stored in the registry.
Aside from the registry, the only place this path is visible is in the scan options displayed in the Plug-in Manager.
This path is not shown in preferences but is one of the paths used by the scanner. Do NOT add the path to the scan paths in preferences.
Verify the PC module path is in the registry

Run a vst reset from preferences make sure "Scan in Sandbox" and "Generate Scan Log" are checked.
Review the log. It should be pretty easy to see if the PC modules are getting scanned and if the scan runs to completion.

  20. scook's post in Does Cakewalk have some type of "pad" view? was marked as the answer
The suggestion to use an external virtual keyboard and MIDI cable was for driving the Matrix view. It could work as a virtual controller for soft synth like SI-Electric-Piano but the built-in virtual controller in CbB works too. Unfortunately, the built-in controller does not work with the Matrix view.
As a rule, the keyboards on synths like SI-Electric Piano are intended to audition the synth. It is not possible to record MIDI data from the SI-Electric Piano using its keyboard but it is possible to record the synths audio. To do so instrument tracks must be split into their audio and MIDI tracks.

Sounds like the OS or graphics driver needs an update.

    Rename or remove CHORDS.CWC
  23. scook's post in How Do I Delete the Surround Panner in Tracks? was marked as the answer
The surround panner replaces the stereo panner whenever a track output/send is routed to a surround bus. Remove the surround bus and the panner returns to stereo.
  24. scook's post in SI Drum Kit going silent when added to some MIDI projects was marked as the answer
The audio engine in Cakewalk sfz synths (including the Studio Instrument series) shut down when encountering certain NRPN instructions in their MIDI tracks. To avoid this either remove the data from the MIDI tracks using the Event List View or enable "Do not intercept NRPNs" on the VST Plug-in properties page like this

  25. scook's post in What is the name of this gray marker? was marked as the answer
The gray areas purpose is to advise that there is an active selection in the project and where the selection is in time.
