  1. Rather than hunt down the name of an automation parameter in the menu it may be easier to write enable automation for the track start the transport operate the feature such as clicking the switch on a stomp box in TH3 or turning a knob This will create the envelope. If the automation lanes are not open when this is done a lane will automatically be added for the envelope. If the lanes are open, click the + on the lanes to add a new lane (or use the existing lane to reassign it) and navigate the menu to the plug-in. The parameter just automated will be at the top of the plug-in's parameters.
  2. The Magix driver is a re-badged version of ASIO4ALL. I removed it from the registry and got rid of the driver. Not sure of the origin of the Cubase Generic driver. One method to suppress any unwanted ASIO driver without messing with the registry is locate and rename the dll. IIRC, ASIO drivers have a registry entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO which is scanned by applications to pick up the the available ASIO drivers. When loading CbB will add the drivers to preferences if it can communicate with them otherwise the will be ignored.
  3. I did not even think the OP meant a tab other than the plug-in tab. Thanks
  4. There is a menu on the left side. If "Display Name" is there try clicking it. It the "change" and "Display Name" menu option are not available or do not work PM @Jesse Jost

    Metronome presets

Looks like we were posted at the same time. It just occurred to me the OP may not be recording and I was updating my post to suggest a single project with multiple tempo and time signatures may be best.
  6. It is not clumsy for me but incomplete. The search does not include PC modules and FX chains.
  7. AFAIK, the shift to development on Win10 happened a couple of years ago. Testing on Win7 has decreased ever since. I am not sure how much Win7 testing happens today. While CbB may run on Win7, the recommended OS is Win10.

    Metronome presets

Tempo and time signature are data stored in project and project templates. One could create empty projects or project templates to use as presets or create the variety of tempo and time signatures a measure or two apart in a single project, add markers where the changes occur and move now time into the appropriate measure as needed. The only other solution I can think of is scripting with a tool like autohotkey.
  9. Interesting solution. Project sample rate is not stored in project or project template files. There are two ways the sample rate is set for a project. If the project does not contain any audio the sample rate is read from the "Sample Rate" in the "Default Sample Rate for New Projects" section in preferences. If the project contains audio, the sample rate is read from the first audio clip header.
  10. Are you dragging from the OS or the browser in the DAW? If dragging from the OS, make sure the DAW is not running as administrator. Windows does not allow drag and drop from the OS into an application running as administrator. This is not a problem when dragging from the browser in the DAW.
  11. It is true, one would have to use Transpose MFX or something similar to alter the note order for the Note pane.
  12. Yeah, I get it. The whole drum map process needs a rewrite. I suspect it is a pretty big job. In the meantime. while not as convenient as directly editing the drum map to the left of drum grid, there is a tool which converts a text file (using the ins format described above) to a drum map. It may be easier than the existing drum map editor for some workflows. The tool is called Ins2map and is available from http://dis.sesseler.de/. To get the tool “Cakewalk SONAR” on the left side of the web page then click “Instrument to Drum Map” link to download the zip.
  13. There was discussion about releasing a BandLab version of Rapture Pro when BandLab purchased Cakewalk IP. At that time it was suggested it would likely be a paid add-on for those who do not already have a license.
  14. The Command Center still works and is the easiest way to install and activate Platinum. If you did not delete the installers (the Command Center does not automatically delete installers) from the Command Center download area on the old PC, copy them to the new PC and save the download time. The default path to the installers used by the Command Center is "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Command Center\Downloads." The path tab on the Settings page of the Command Center shows the actual download path and has a button to open the path in Windows explorer. Click the gear in the upper right of the Command Center UI to open Settings. If the installers are not on the PC, consider downloading a complete set of installers from your account page when you have the time. That way they will be available when you are read to install on the new machine.
  15. Hah, I misread the OP. Aside from the drum map functions isn't the only difference between the drum grid and notes panes the ability to suppress note duration in the drum grid pane?

Yes, CA-2A was never bundled with the regular X-Series or Platinum distributions. It was given away (maybe more than once) but I do not believe it was ever automatically added to user accounts. The later versions of CA-2A had a Command Center installer and used the newer activation routines. The original CA-2A used the old serial/registration number activation. CA-2A free or paid came with all available formats.
  17. Drag and Drop for FX chains is supported just like plug-ins. Most FX chains may be unpacked after added to an FX rack by right-clicking on the FX Chain and selecting "Extract FX Chain Plug-ins" from the context menu. I believe the only exceptions are the CA-X Amps Producer series created by Craig Anderton. These FX Chains contained some Gibson proprietary IP and the FX Chains were specially built to prevent unpacking.
  18. Keyboard binding changes should happen immediately. Just a guess but if there is a delay, it may be due to a localization problem. Consider reporting this to support@cakewalk.com. I do not believe the is an empty kbn but there is a "SONAR Default Key Assignments.kbn" which probably needs to be renamed.
  19. There is a VST opcode (eff GetMidiKeyName) used by CbB, implemented by Fxpansion in the BSD series and the old Cakewalk Session Drummer which automatically displays note names instead of the keyboard in the PRV note pane. Unfortunately, they are the only plug-ins I know of that implement this feature. Fortunately, CbB has a way to display text instead of the keyboard in the PRV note pane using the Note Names dialog. Right-click the keyboard in the note pane to open the dialog, select "Use these Note Names Instead" in the Note Names dialog and select the appropriate entry from the drop down. The drop down may by extended by editing the master.ins file. In fact, the image above shows "AD2 Standard" which I created some time ago. The master.ins is a text file in %appdata%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core To modify the master.ins open the file in a text editor and 1) create an entry in in ".Note Names" such as [My Drums] 35=Acoustic Bass Drum 36=Bass Drum 1 37=Oink 38=Rooster Crow .... 81=Open Triangle 2) create an entry in ".Instrument Definitions" like this [My Drums] Patch=1..128 Key[*,*]=My Drums Drum[*,*]=1 This will add a "My Drums" option to the Note Names "Use these Note Names Instead" drop down. The only downside to this approach is the assignment is not persistent. Every session and every time a new PRV is opened the alternate note names must be selected. It would be a nice feature is this were persistent like the drum map assignment.

I have no definitive answer regarding future BandLab plug-ins. BandLab did purchase the plug-in IP along with SONAR. There were discussions on the old forum soon after the purchase about add-ons to CbB. I suspect as soon as the account migration is complete, the plug-ins are re-badged and the store built-out, some of the old Cakewalk plug-ins will be available. In the case where one had 64bit SONAR or other Cakewalk DAW installed which included plug-ins no longer bundled with CbB, the old plug-ins work fine in CbB. If the plug-ins are missing, the old DAW needs to be installed. A complete install of the old DAW is the simplest way to get the all the bundled content back. This should be done before installing CbB. If done after installing CbB, it may be necessary to re-install CbB. SONAR X3 and older have an advanced install option which makes adding individual plug-ins easy. The newer versions of SONAR were comprised of several installers so, it may be possible to install some of the plug-ins without installing the DAW. That said, the Sonitus Multiband is bundled with CbB.
  21. Another free one note to chord VST is Chordz. I did not get was the request that from the OP
  22. If Z3TA+ 2 is installed, activated and in the CbB scan path, it should work like any other plug-in. May want to make sure the "Scan in SandBox" option is enabled in preferences. See the preferences help link above for info about the option.
  23. Z3TA+ 2 was not bundled with Platinum. It was sold separately. If the plug-in is installed make sure "Z3TA+ 2_64.dll" or "Z3TA+ 2_64.vst3" is in the CbB VST scan path. If the plug-in is in the scan path, check the plug-in manager to see if the plug-in got excluded. If it is excluded, run a VST reset or temporarily enable "Rescan Failed Plug-ins" and run a regular scan from preferences.
