  1. MREverb is not a free plug-in The MFreeFXBundle contains the free MeldaProduction plug-ins including a couple of free reverb plug-ins.
  2. IIRC, SONAR 8 shipped with a DX format version of DP (v1.2?). I am not sure if the SONAR 8 bonus disk recognizes the VST version of DP (v1.5) that shipped with SONAR X1 Producer through SONAR Platinum. If this is the case, to get the SONAR 8 bonus content will require installing the DP that came with SONAR 8.
  3. It is important there are no MIDI output devices enabled in preferences. If MIDI output devices are enabled, TTS-1 will not be automatically added and setup when opening MIDI files. If TTS-1 is not in the synth rack, then the MIDI file is likely playing through the MS GS Wavetable synth. Disable this and any other MID output device in preferences, then open a MIDI file.
  4. OK, audio works. Next try opening (File > Open) a MIDI file without any output device enabled in preferences. This will create a project with the MIDI file and TTS-1 setup ready to play. Click the play button in the transport or the space bar to start playing the MIDI file. or Use the Add Track Menu to add TTS-1 to a new project by performing the following steps Click the Add track button Click the Instrument Tab in the Add Track menu Click Create in the Add track menu Make sure input echo button, to the right of the record button, is enabled in the newly added track Then use your hardware controller or the virtual controller to play TTS-1 Try both to see the different ways soft synths may be routed in CbB.
  5. Since CbB was released there have been several additions and changes to the images used by the DAW. While additions may be ignored, when running a user theme changes to image size must be addressed. In user themes, unmodified new images show up as they do in Mercury. While they may look odd; they function normally. When an image is resized, the UI not only looks odd, the DAW does not work as documented. New images must be created to the new spec or the old custom images must be deleted in order for the UI and DAW to work as expected. Since the introduction of themes in SONAR 2016.07 until CbB 2021.04, there was nothing to warn users about potential problems with an out of date theme. The UI theme compatibility checker and Waveform outlines (possibly why "the waves themselves looking different") features are documented here http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=NewFeatures.008.html
  6. The theme must not be in use when trying to save. When using the Edit button in preferences to open the current theme in the theme editor, the edited theme will not save unless CbB is shut down a different theme is selected in preferences or the theme is saved as a different name.
  7. Cakewalk plays until the last bit of data is encountered (and beyond if Stop at Project End is disabled). Most often there is a MIDI event or automation node far to the right on the timeline. The steps to truncate the length of a project are: Position Now time at the expected end of the project, Enable Ripple Edit all, Select everything to the right of Now, (ex. use "Select All" then "Select From Now" from the main edit menu) Delete the selection and Turn off Ripple Edit Should this method fail, submit the project to support. There has been one report of a problem with a template some years back too. This would not truncate using the process mentioned above. I do not believe support reviewed the issue. The user rebuilt suspect template and the project and the problem disappeared. This method should deal with export length too. Since I always disable Stop at Project End my projects always play until I stop the transport. Also, I always export a time-based selection.
  8. BA keeps track of what has been installed. To save typing here is a similar question about one of the other Add-ons If you elect to perform a clean install keep in mind if third party plug-ins are installed in the default CbB VST folder "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins" they will be deleted too. This may be avoided by temporarily moving the folder out of the Cakewalk folder before performing step 8 of the clean install instructions.
  9. Studio Instruments are not part of the core CbB install. They are available from the Install Add-ons... option in BA
  10. Here are the synth plug-ins included with CbB http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Plug-ins.4.html The SI Suite is not part of the core install. It is available from the "Install Add-ons..." option on this menu in BA If you own a copy of a Cakewalk DAW with those plug-ins the best course of action is uninstall CbB install and apply all updates to the latest version of the Cakewalk DAW re-install CbB. It is a little more complicated when one owns several versions of SONAR and wants a complete installation without fully installing every DAW. To save keystrokes, here is a thread with more info
  11. It may be a corrupted image file. To redraw the image: right-click the clip area in the track view to open the context menu, select "Associated Audio Files" at the bottom of the menu, click the "Recompute Picture(s)" button in the Associated Audio Files dialog. Or Delete all the files in the Picture folder. This will clear all the images for all projects. Sometimes a good idea, if one has experienced drawing problems or repeated program crashes. Images will be recreated when projects are loaded.
  12. Yes, they are documented Initialization documentation starts here http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=INI_Files.1.html Variables used in Preferences | File | initialization file are here http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=INI_Files.4.html Of course, ExceptionHandlingSeverity is new and not yet added to the table.
  13. New 2021.04 build 145 addresses this. See
  14. For those unfamiliar with in preferences, it is an advanced setting, make sure the Advanced radio button at the bottom of Preferences is selected. By default, there are no values showing so ExceptionHandlingSeverity will need to be added. To do this, type ExceptionHandlingSeverity in the Option Entry and 5 in the Value entry then click the Set button Here is what preferences looks like before clicking Set.
  15. Only add folders containing plug-in binaries to the scan path. Adding folders containing binaries unrelated to VST plug-ins can cause problems with the scanner. I do not use much NI stuff and have not installed Komplete but do know the free Kontakt player plug-in is where a lot of the instruments reside. Do not expect to see the individual instruments provided by Kontakt in the CbB plug-in list, instead; search the plug-in list for Kontakt. Once Kontakt is loaded in the project, there should be a menu in the plug-in to load its instruments.
  16. It may be related to how this was done. Did you follow the clean install instructions? Is the dll actually where the error message says it was found. Is the "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Studio Instruments\SI-Drum Kit" folder intact? Mine shows 663 files in 30 folders.
  17. It is on the Install Add-Ons... menu in BandLab Assistant While themes have occasionally required updating, the Cakewalk Theme Editor has not changed since the first release of CbB. Starting with 2021.04 there is a check for out of date themes.
  18. Don't have the plug-in but do know when people refer MIDI as is done in this video things often go wrong. It is not clear what MIDI note the video intends as C1. This should be in the plug-in documentation. CbB has a preference setting called Base Octave for Pitches to set musical note to MIDI note relation. By default, in Cakewalk C1 is 12. The video may expect C1 to be 24 or 36.
  19. from https://www.waves.com/plugins/ovox-vocal-resynthesis#tab-tech-specs
  20. The record bit depth has nothing to do with the OS, hardware, interface driver or driver settings in the DAW. It is a separate setting in the DAW preferences. It does appear that if the DAW is not configured to record, the record bit depth setting reverts to its default value.
  21. The first image has no record timing master set. My guess is this causes CbB to fallback to the default record bit depth. The value does not matter. The DAW is not setup to record. The other two have a record timing master selected so they show the record bit depth from preferences.
  22. Different machines with different record bit depth settings. Once again: The bit depth in the transport is not the audio driver bit depth; it is record bit depth. ASIO drivers typically support one bit depth. When a driver only supports one bit depth the audio driver bit depth drop down is disabled. The record bit depth shown in the transport is what will be used when audio recording is enabled. It has nothing to do with the clips already recorded in the project. Both audio driver bit depth and record bit depth are global settings. They are not stored in the project.
  23. These are slightly different versions of the same DAW with different content developed and sold by Cakewalk. SONAR Platinum was their flagship product. In 2017, Gibson Brands, the company that owns Cakewalk, shut down operations. It is unlikely that Gibson will restart Cakewalk or update their products. In 2018, BandLab Technologies purchased Cakewalk IP from Gibson and hired some of the old Cakewalk staff. Using the code base for SONAR Platinum, BandLab released Cakewalk by BandLab. Other than the price, the main difference between SONAR Platinum sold in 2017 and Cakewalk by BandLab released in 2018 is the bundled content. Platinum included a different loop library and more plug-ins. BandLab continues to update and support Cakewalk by BandLab. Updates happen every couple of months. They just released an update this month Most of the content bundled with old Cakewalk DAWS is not locked to the DAW and maybe used in any DAW. However, there are a few items that are locked to the DAW and will not work outside of the product-line that included them. These items still work in Cakewalk by BandLab.
  24. With every production release, there is an associated feedback thread. The feedback thread for 2021.04 is
  25. The Early Access period for 2021.04 is over. 2021.04 is now production. Issues with the production release should be posted in
