  1. I took advantage of the discount previously and like the sound and mechanics of Softube's Echoes. I wish there were a way to turn off the tape-through-the-record/play-heads animated graphic. The plug-in uses more CPU that other tape/echo/echo plug-ins I have** and I have wondered if that's due to the animation or the DSP. I suspect it might be due to the animation because minimizing the UI or switching to another window drops my CPU usage by 8-10% [Task Manager: Cakewalk Application]. **Disclosure: The quickie test included plug-ins from Cherry Audio, IK Multimedia (TR5 instance and inside MixBox), MeldaProduction (including MB versions), and PSP Audio. A single live layer was performed on top of a MIDI performance using a Sample Tank instrument/Preset (one track). ST4 in CbB routed to Voltage Modular (as FX Rack). As a fan of echoes and delays, I really like having Softube's Echoes among my tools in part because the aesthetics of the UI impart a nice feeling. And it sounds quite nice!! But if the animation is using that much extra CPU in a single instance, I'd really like to be able to click on an additional display button at the top to turn the animation off, to not see it, and ideally to save some CPU power. Here --> A setting would be OK as an alternative, but the display button would be quicker. Note: This might not affect people with more powerful CPUs. Just thought I'd mention it as long as I checked it out for myself.
  2. Thanks for the explanation. I used to use index cards as a reminder of which knobs and sliders were set up for different CCs/parameters. Now I have tiny stickers with the CCs numbers below the knobs and above the sliders and I tend to use CCs numbers consistently for parameters. So, I am a fan of reminders. Out of curiosity, did you try adding the text comments to an instrument definition?
  3. Are you talking about having text reminders in dedicated midi track so you know why you are using certain CC parameters and CC values?

    Error Message

It should come through the other device--the one that hasn't been disabled. The original problem related to an audio device that was not being used for Cakewalk's audio. The solution suggested was to turn off the device in Device Manager that wasn't being used. If you only have one audio device and you turn it off using device manager, you have a different problem than the one stated. Are you saying you only have one audio device?
  5. From what I have seen, telling loved ones they should quit, getting on their case, etc. can be counter productive.
  6. Feature Request: Add right-click MIDI Learn / Remote Control to Tap Tempo Reason for request: pressing a mouse button to set the tempo is not intuitive, not natural, and inaccurate. Pressing a key on a keyboard (or any other preferred MIDI controller, e.g., pads on a drum machine, breath on a wind controller, etc.) are more intuitive, more natural, and more accurate.
  7. Just a footnote: the PSP StompFilter currently $12 was $19.99 at Audio Deluxe in August. So if you were interested in it then, its less costly with this sale.
  8. Thanks for the clarifications. It make sense to me to have pre-defined sets of automatically added automation lanes perhaps starting with all parameters exposed by specific soft synths that can be selected and de-selected to create different customized presets.
  9. Thanks @Xel Ohh for this tidbit and @abacab for prompting it. Looks like I updated to 4.2.2 mid-July (from an earlier version), but I have not done too much of anything serious with it since. I gave up on trying to use the ST4 Editor after first trying that. I have tons of hardware sampler and software banks (CDs and files) and would love to be able to use them in a reasonably full-featured contemporary multi-timbral soft synth. It is now on my list to explore. Found it in the user manual: Thanks for showing us this!!!
  10. I have one called "Cakewalk_by_BandLab_Rollback_Setup_from_26.04.0.164_to_26.01.0.28.exe" but I am not sure if I renamed it or if it came like that. Can someone look at their holdings to see if it was named that from the download? Thanks.
  11. What do you mean by "default controllers?" I can think of several different things. Are you talking about hardware controllers seen by your computer (and CbB)? all the parameters exposed by a specific soft synth; by all soft synths in a project? all the CCs as defined by the MIDI Spec? something different?
  12. Too late. I just got back from a walk around the nearby pond armed with a bottle of healthy, detoxifying water lightly flavored with some freshly picked, new-growth, early-fall spearmint. 😜
  13. I am not that petty. I am interested in truth and accuracy. Sometimes I will even stand up to people who are insulting, rude, mean, disrespectful, etc. I suggest you might want to post some links to research documenting the claim that drinking water doesn't help get rid of nicotine from the body thereby helping with withdrawal. I took your advice to use Google to ask, "is there research on drinking water to detoxify from nicotine" and I stand by my position. PS: Your suggestion to "keep to the topic" (1) presumes I was off topic, (2) falsely implies I was off topic, etc.
  14. I did not call you a liar. I gave a direct response to your bold assertion that water cannot rinse out toxins [from] your body and your challenge to use Google to "prove" your claim. I did not insult you. I replied to your insults. In the future please do not say things like "I hope you are joking" and "If you can't handle the truth . . . ." Saying "I find it odd that calling me a lier [sic] isn't insulting" is also disrespectful and demeaning. I have spoken the truth. I have not been insulting to you in this discussion. Saying I called you a liar is not true.
  15. Awesome techniques. Thanks for sharing.
  16. From past research I knew that drinking water is a good thing, in part by reducing the levels of certain things in a person's body. But I followed your advice and Googled "Does drinking water help reduce . . . ." Well, guess what? Google says that drinking water is (a) good for reducing the harmful effects of some toxic elements in the body, (b) for fostering good health, (c) for minimizing certain health risks and conditions, etc. Yes, drinking excessive amounts of water can have harmful consequences, but your claim about water is incorrect. And Google proves it! I hope you're joking. I have told the truth. But of course. If you can't handle the truth you are free to believe whatever you like. I am not joking. Plus you have insulted me by saying "If you can't handle the truth . . . ." Perhaps there is a language issue.

  18. Yes. I had edited the post with quote earlier but just put in the citation. I found them by clicking on the "Settings" link at the bottom of the plug-in box. In case someone else gets the same error code, this is what I did: Thanks.
  19. I think I found the answer: ORIGINAL ISSUE: Since Emulator X3 can no longer be authorized on additional PCs (hence I cannot authorize it on my current audio PC), I picked up the jBridge demo. So far Proteus VX seems to work, but I get an unhappy message. (See below.) To tell Cakewalk to use jBridge, I used the plug-in manager and told Cakewalk to use the jBridge wrapper. Should I have done something different to get Cakewalk to use jBridge? Any suggestions? I suppose I could try installing an ancient E-Mu PCI card and see if Emulator X or X2 will work under Windows 10 but I seem to recall that only X3 worked with Windows 10. Thanks.
  20. In fact, early in Sept. one retailer had a deal on an NI bundle that included FM8, Absynth, Massive, and I think something else--possibly FX. I was interested, but I hesitated and several days later it was gone. (I think it was $29.99.)
  21. Unfortunately, the answer seems to be yes, they still do not have offline authorization. But at least they post that up front although it is at the bottom of the page:
  22. If I remember correctly, the hard core advocates have made a case for an integrated sampler. My take-away from feature requests I read over the years is that the goal in part is to have built-in menus and assignable short-cuts that enable such things as highlighting of audio, selection of clips, etc. that cause various sample manipulation techniques to happen while doing normal editing within Cakewalk. To me, in many ways it is the audio equivalent of requests to integrate some CAL-like functions. For example, highlight a group of notes, right click, select "retrograde inversion," (or use a shortcut key assigned to retrograde inversion) and the notes get changed from within Cakewalk itself. I know I am not being comprehensive based on the feature requests I have read; this is just a summary of how I understand what has been meant by integration as opposed to using a plug-in. ADDENDUM: Here is just one of several threads that have posts that describe what an integrated sampler might look like: As abacab notes, different people have different ideas on what they mean by a sampler. However, some of the posts in that thread give insights on sampler integration (as opposed to using a sampler as a plug-in).

  24. That's one of the things I like about Cakewalk--if it doesn't meet someone's needs for any reason at all, they don't have to use it. If this is your reason, feel free not to use it. Personally, I like that I can use plug-ins, but I can understand that some people find them problematic.
