  1. As for CCs, I have had Voltage Modular send CCs to VST Instruments hosted in CbB. I have never tried to use Sysex commands the way you describe. I have used Cakewalk/Sonar to capture sysex banks (bulk data presets) from hardware. Also used to use Sysex commands to change parameter settings mainly on Roland gear (MT-32, CM-64, M-GS64, RA-30) and E-Mu gear (Proteus, P2K line). I have done sysex bulk data dumps to and from my Casio VZ-8m for sure; possibly a Korg EX-800 . I have a few software synths that can send and receive sysex. I remember when I got the VirtualCZ I sent it some sysex dumps. I would have loaded the data from sysex dumps (syx files) into Cakewalk or MIDI-OX. Correct me if I am wrong--you want to do two different tasks (1) bulk data storage and retrieval and (2) realtime parameter control. I have been told that Cakewalk/SONAR CbB cannot receive MIDI Time Code data (bytes that consist of or start with 0xFn [hex]) and echo that out. Based on that (since sysex commands start with 0xF0 and terminate with 0xF7) I suspect what you want to do with hardware wouldn't work. I have the Fury-800 and possibly the FB-7999. If you post some valid sysex bulk data dumps, I can test them. As for real time control of soft synths from the hardware (assuming they have the ability to send sysex commands on the fly when you use the controls) or vice versa, I doubt CbB can do that. Addendum: After installing the FB-7999 and setting it up to send sysex from its UI parameter changes, I don't see any way for CbB to echo sysex commands in realtime to hardware.
  2. For more forum posts about Stagecraft, here's a link to a search,
  3. Also: [image showing 41% level deleted] Master Tune in Automation Lane. Approximating 420 Hz seems to vary with different sample sets and the effects either on the samples or in the synth-engine (not sure which it is).
  4. Thanks for the tip about using the Track Inspector > MIDI tab > FX Bin method. When hybrid tracks (audio + MIDI) came in, I just continued to use methods that were familiar to me. For my needs it was so much quicker to split tracks than to spend the time to do a deep dive into the Inspector. Also, finding out that the Inspector-based Arpeggiator had some very specific MIDI flaws on my computers further discouraged me from using the Inspector for anything but very simple things. Now that I have been spending time making use of software synths over the past several years, having the ability to add MIDI FX without splitting instrument track by using the Inspector will be a timer saver for me!!!
  5. Thanks for reporting their response Q: All licences or all AIR licences?
  6. I was under the impression that the section you circled was those recent viewers of the person's profile. Not sure that relates to finding what that person viewed.
  7. But it doesn't say Hertz!!!! That makes it seem more like its a knob to select a tune. 😜 Sorry for the humor, but " . . . without having to screw with Melodyne and duct tape fix it to my cakewalk track. I have to go in Melodyne and individually pitch shift every single note, and that is incredibly tedious" seemed like an attempt at humor to me and I was trying to respond with humor myself. 🤣 Did you know that in SI-Bass Guitar, Master Tune is an automatable parameter? I found this ^^^ in the help file. In fact, in the section on "Using The Bass Controls" it also says: To be fair, the OP might have been looking for a virtual LED display that goes to one or two decimal places. If so, there are a number of other third-party tools that can be "duct taped" to Cakewalk. Melodyne seems like overkill. There must be other tools, but Melda Production's Free Bundle includes MTuner (in case there isn't a non-virtual tuner handy). BTW, I couldn't get the SI-Bass to play 440 Hz; that was too high for the Bass I was using. So I took 420 Hz and divided by 8 to get 52.5. I put MTuner in the FX Bin and turned the Tune knob down to - 0.9 semitones until MTuner was close. (Actually the tool tip said Master Tune: -0.9 st.) Hope that's close enough.
  8. Sorry for the confusion. I took the statement to mean " . . . the MIDI channel Input Gain knob . . . does not have the availability to be (1) assigned or (2) automated by a MIDI CC#." I never use them, but I did try using the automation lanes. I was not able to use automation control the Gain knob. I don't know enough about automation lanes, though. I see now the statement was could also have been read as " . . . the MIDI channel Input Gain knob . . . does not have the availability to be assigned a MIDI CC# and then be automated."
  9. Nope. I just grabbed any ol' slider and it happened to be CC 14. It's an old model evolution MK-449C. I have almost all my knobs and sliders set up to send CCs on the current MIDI channel. That allows me to layer sounds by merely changing the current MIDI channel of the entire keyboard. One knob is set up to send channel after touch. I avoid RPNs and NRPNs. Right clicked on Gain knob on the CV strip, chose Remote Control [aka MIDI Learn in some software], moved slider, selected Learn, clicked OK. I never use the Input Gain and have no plans to, but it seemed easy enough to try to see if it could be done.
  10. I just tested this and successfully assigned a slider on my usb keyboard to the Input Gain knob on a MIDI track/channel strip. It also moved the horizontal vel+/vel- slider in the track header.
  11. Now that you mention all this, I remember about a month or two ago (maybe more), Air Music Technology (or whatever the new name is) announced an installer/product manager kind of thing, probably to coincide with their new product line. From what I remember reading, not all of the old products were managed by the new tool yet, but they were working on it. Not 100% sure of the details, just that some of mine were picked up by the new tools and some weren't, and there was some sort of explanation about that. https://www.thempcstore.com/downloads/ https://support.akaipro.com/en/support/home Never mind. I ran the program. Only Bassline is picked up under My Products. All Software lists Hybrid 3 (which I have, is installed, and works), but the new tool will let me get an iLok code (which I already have and is registered in iLok) and install Hybrid 3. DrumSynth is also listed, but I have the older version DrumSynth500. I have a license for Velvet, but I never activated it on any of my computers. The new product manager will allow me to get a iLok code for Velvet and Download it. I don't have a license for the MiniGrand, but the new product manager will evidently allow me to get an iLok code and Download it. There are a lot of Deactivated programs that I am allowed to Download (probably trials so I can choose to buy licenses to activate them if I want). As before, none of my other products are included in listed. There is an Add Product button. Maybe someday I will be able to add my other product licenses there. Since I they are all listed in iLok and since I have them activated and I can use them on my current PCs, I will probably just wait and cross that bridge if and when I get a more modern computer. Thanks for the details you have added here.
  12. @John Vere Thanks for going through the trouble of trying to sort all this out and for reporting all the back-and-forth. I appreciate your optimism (wrt to Air and iLock). So far my Air products (installed on my previous and my current music PCs) still seem to work but I can easily imagine having these kinds of issues if I ever move to a new PC.
  13. Do you live in a place where a local / community library pays for its patrons to access magazines on line? The last time I looked (several years ago), mine didn't. Not sure if they put that into the budget, but I will check. Thanks for mentioning this. UPDATE: Cool! Now that I see OverDrive, I remember trying that like 10-15 years ago. Once. Will have to check it out again. Thanks.
  14. Not sure if you have tried using a custom Workspace. It can be used to exclude some features / distractions. For example, here's one I call "No Views"--it has just the minimal views possible: Functions in Views that have been excluded from a custom Workspace are also excluded. Compare the one above with the following Views: --from a discussion when one user had an issue with the Video View: More often than not, discussions of Workspaces come up when some users find Views and the features they use are accidentally excluded or someone has chosen the "wrong" factory Workspace. But, I have found customized Workspaces can be used to focus on specific workflow tasks. Just an option for reducing features / distractions. Another option is to customize the Control Bar by showing a limited set of modules or by setting unneeded Control Bar modules as Collapsed.
  15. Did anyone else try Ubuntu Studio when it first came out? Word on the street: it was intended to make things easier for creative types so they didn't have to be Linux Geeks. In my admittedly limited personal experience with Linux, having music apps bundled with Ubuntu was a good start, but it wasn't anywhere sufficient for me to try to give up my existing music-making tools (which included SONAR). It still would have required too much to teach myself what I already knew how to do. I see that Ubuntu Studio 23.10 was released in October. I note with interest that it includes OBS Studio version 29.1.3. If in addition to Cakewalk Next and Cakewalk Sonar, there were a Cakewalk Performer that (1) could exchange files with Next and Sonar, (2) would allow for multitrack recording of live streamed performances, and (3) would be geared towards live, realtime performance modalities, I could see that being useful to a number of different music creating communities.
  16. I have played with Sitala before and was going to test it on my current PC, but considering I never use it (I have other tools I can use), I will not be buying the new version. In fact, I didn't even know it became non-free. The older version used to work with CbB. Maybe someone else who has the current [i.e., paid] version should give it a try to see if it still works in CbB?
  17. Better double check the sheep! 😜
  18. Part 1: No, you cannot record MIDI notes by clicking on the image of the keyboard in the SI-String Section VSTi Window with your mouse. Part 2: You can record MIDI notes by clicking on the image of the keyboard in the Virtual Controller. No: <------ SI-String Section (plug-in) Yes: <------ Virtual Controller (built into Cakewalk)
  19. I don't think the system checks to see if you are repeating yourself
