If the DJ controller generates a signal, then it can be recorded by Sonar - assuming you have the audio interface configured to do so. It's more a function of what your audio interface can use as signal at its input. It would not even care what DAW you use - as long as it can process whatever your audio interface card is receiving. In my case, what I do is I feed the AUX 1 and 2 out signal of my Soundcraft EMP12 mixer into the line in of a Focusrite 2i2. This let's me record directly into a Cakewalk by Bandlab audio track. My Sonar Platinum projects have all opened in Cakewalk by Bandlab seemlessly The "online tool" you mention is not the same as Cakewalk by Bandlab. Cakewalk by Bandlab is installed via Bandlab Assistant with can be downloaded from here: https://www.bandlab.com/download/assistant/windows Remember, when you create your Bandlab account, use the same email address that you used for your Sonar account. Do not uninstall Sonar Platinum if you plan to use all the goodies that came with Sonar Platinum (or just to test things).

Further more, if you have a multitimbral VSTi (like Sampletank, UVI workstation, Kontact, etc) then you one need one instance of the VSTi for multiple sounds.

Did you open the inspector for the MIDI track (Select the MIDI track and press i ) Then look down the bottom of the inspector for "In/Out". Just above the track name is where that MIDI track is being routed. If you have loaded soft synths, the loaded soft synths will be listed there. MIDI ports will also be listed.

Is the synth or VSTi physically modelled or does it use samples. Also, does the VSTi actually repond to program change events. If the VSTi is physically modelled and it responds to program changes (like Applied Acoustic Systems VSTis for eg), then the patch changes are responded to pretty much instantly. If the VSTi uses sample and it responds to program changes, then there will be significant delay while the sample is being loaded. In that case, maybe freezing the track might be in order. Regarding the list of patches. There are some VSTs that populate this list - otherwise you have to read the manual for that VSTi to know what program change commands to send. If you're using a hardware synth and you have correctly loaded the appropriate Instrument definition file (INS), then the patch list will be populated with the correct patches for that hardware synth. This is assuming the INS file contains the names. Bottom line is that it depends entirely on the VSTi or synth.

It's not a hidden file. It's just the extension that's hidden. Select AUD ( which is actually AUD.INI ) file and hit F2. Then rename it to something like AUD_Back Obviously do this with Cakewalk closed. Ideally you would want to change folder settings so that extensions are not hidden. This is done in Control Panel | File Explorer options, "View" tab, then deselect "Hide Extensions for known file types"

Are you using version 436.48 of the Nvidia drivers? (assuming a GTX600 or above card). And did you disable the audio component of that card in Device Manager? All you have to do is click on the MIDI output drop-down and select the TX16Wx (assuming you have installed the soft synth) . Have you double checked your MIDI channels in the MIDI routing?

When you "Won't run in safe mode", I am assuming that mean holding shift while opening Cakewalk? Maybe try uninstalling the driver for your Lynx Aurora 16. Maybe head to the Lynx Studio Technology website and grab the latest drivers if you have not done so already.

MME is the "tast resort" mode in case nothing works - for the reasons that you have discovered. ASIO still remains the most favoured driver mode. When you say "Then I updated Sonar" I am assuming that is to the latest Cakewalk by Bandlab (2019.9 Build 70). If not then I recommend you do so. Note Sonar can run side by side - you shouldn't uninstall Sonar to when you install Cakewalk by Bandlab. Then try reinstalling the driver for the Roland Octa-Capture. If it's ticks that causes the notes to move the required amount, then I think you were wanting ticks rather than milliseconds. Note: if you do use ticks, then the actual amount of shift , if defined in milliseconds, would depend on the tempo of the project were the notes are.
