  1. I like Soundpaint and it's unique abilities, but just thought to mention here that Luftrum Bioscape (Kontakt library) also lets you bring in up to 4 samples (in layers A, B, C, D) in one patch (snapshot), including your own samples. Even though it doesn't have the morphing technology like SP, there are a lot of sound mangulating options available in Bioscape, including the XY pad, envelopes and filters, modulation and effects. The XY pad will crossfade between the layers. This motion can also be recorded.

  3. I don't own them either. But all 3 are available as free demos!
  4. Conclusion: These two are close with some subtle differences. At the end, he points out that the overdrive is not well implemented in either of these soft synth versions. I had a play with the Cherry Audio version, and maybe the overdrive is a smidge better with that one?
  5. You are new around here, aren't ya? 🤣
  6. @KeniAny feedback from KV331 yet?
  7. I've got the Waves Abbey Road and the Nashville studios, but I never could justify a $99 gadget to track my head movements. But that's just me and my budget...
  8. Just get the NX Ocean Way Nashville. It's on sale for $29. https://www.waves.com/plugins/nx-ocean-way-nashville#mix-better-on-headphones-nx-ocean-way-nashville You can use your webcam for head tracking. Or with no head tracking at all, which means that your stereo signal will follow your headphones as usual, instead of recreating the space around you as you move. You can still rotate the studio manually, calibrate your headphones, and select the studio monitors, and adjust the ambience using IR's. RATE indicates the rate of head tracking in frames per second (fps). The optimal rates are: Camera: 25 fps–30 fps Nx Head Tracker: 35 fps–50 fps Sensor Fusion: 45 fps–80 fps [both camera and head tracker] Waves Nx is the engine behind Ocean Way Nashville. Nx creates the space and converts stereo audio channels into a binaural headphone signal. NX HeadTracker is the Nx utility that uses camera and/or Bluetooth Head Tracker information to interpret the mix engineer’s head movements. The Nx application opens or closes automatically when you open or close the Nx Ocean Way Nashville plugin.
  9. +1 for Saurus 3!!! IMO it is probably the best virtual analog for the money, and it just does analog very well without trying to emulate any particular vintage synth, or be anything but analog.
  10. After comparing the Softube Model 72 demo with The Legend and the Miniverse, I would have to say that I would still place my money on the Cherry Audio Miniverse. The Model 72 is very nice, but IMO not twice the money nice!
  11. That one is on sale at Plugin Boutique right now for $81.87. Regular list is $159. https://www.softube.com/model-72-synthesizer-system https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/1-Instruments/4-Synth/6888-Model-72-Synthesizer-System
  12. Installed!!! From the manual...🤣 Legal Statement "I, Björn Arlt, in full possession of all my mental powers, hereby declare that I never claimed nor will ever claim in the future that PECS does sound like or even close to the original PE-2000. PECS does not sound like the original PE-2000 – it cannot because it is a digital plug-in and thus not blessed with the fairy dust of good old analog hardware. And everybody knows that it is a well-known fact that digital machines do not sound warmish-analog but coldish-harsh. Having said that I hope that the inevitable shit storm might possibly get cancelled."
  13. Or you can get Cherry Audio's Miniverse for $39. https://cherryaudio.com/products/miniverse I tried the demos of The Legend and Miniverse, and they are quite close. I liked the filter sweep in the Miniverse better. Check it out in the free demo! But not even close was the Arturia Mini V3, which I happen to have in the V Collection. https://www.musicradar.com/reviews/cherry-audio-miniverse
  14. Nobody said Sample One XT was one of the best, but it's not bad. I suggested that using the sampler that comes in your DAW is probably the best choice (from a system resources perspective, which is the direction that this thread had taken as a result of the objections to Waves CR8).
  15. That would be a nice classic to own! But for $4,999? You can get this for $99! $77 at Thomann https://www.thomannmusic.com/synapse_audio_the_legend.htm
  16. When I finish learning how to use Scaler, I might take a look at Insta Chord.
  17. Metropolis Ark Ø, 75,00 € until December 1st. https://www.orchestraltools.com/store/collections/metropolis-ark-0
  18. Suggestion: Toggle on the "Show Track Pane" option in the Piano Roll "View" menu. Ensure that you have the Piccolo tack selected there. Works here playing D4-C7. Also observed in the video that the notes played on the piano roll keyboard were all above C7. Also the Cakewalk setting for Customization > Display > "Base Octave for Pitches" affects the octave numbering on the Cakewalk keyboard display. Mine is set at [-2]. Not all DAWs use the same octave default, so you can adjust the range to your preference. "Base Octave for Pitches. There is no industry standard for numbering octaves. By default, Cakewalk calls MIDI note 0 (the lowest possible note) C0. The Yamaha FB-01, for example, shows MIDI note 0 as C-2 (C negative 2). To match Cakewalk to that standard, set Base Octave to –2." https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Dialogs2.073.html
  19. Good choice! It's probably best to use the integrated samplers that come with one's DAW, where available. For those with Cakewalk only, unfortunately there is no sampler included. So those users must seek a 3rd party solution. I have Cakewalk, Studio One, and Ableton Live so more choices!
  20. The jack on the Tone Port is the question, and the spec for it that states "expression". The pic of the pedal is a regular sustain pedal. So apparently the Tone Port only supports expression pedals input, rather than sustain pedals.
  21. Haha, never! And that's why I was calling you out! 😂
  22. Not at all. He thinks like I do, and I've imagined things this way long before I knew of him and his products. I'm a futurist and a dreamer, and have made a career out of IT since the 70's, with synthesizers as a hobby since the 80's. Let's agree to disagree. And I still think your opinion is B.S., but that's nothing personal. I like you!
  23. After a quick run checking out the Arturia demos of Piano V3, and CS-80 V4, I have to say the the presets are definitely better and more usable out of the box! Much fuller and more realistic sound than with the previous versions. I wonder how much of that is a reflection of the new synth engines, and how much of that is just better sound programming? Maybe a bit of both? I didn't have time to deep dive into these so that's just a first impression. Regardless, I think that these more usable sounds make these updates worthwhile!
  24. I am seeing Affinity Photo 2 for $40.99 at the Affinity site: https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/photo/#buy
