  1. She must have missed. Typewriter throwing skills were a little off. Maybe they promoted her for the attempt?
  2. So far I made it into the afternoon and everything is ok. Bayoubill must be good luck. I rubbed his post.
  3. YAY.............I think. It is the Friday the 13th . Yesterday looked like a full moon.
  4. Thanks Jesse. That link isn't working over here for some odd reason. The top is made of rather thin plastic and I suspect I squeezed it too hard when I removed it causing the crack.
  5. There have been some real "characters" on the site in the past. Some have been booted or lost interest. No drama queens but I think we had a drama king or two. Some of them were really interesting. I wavered between wanting to kill them or laughing at their comments. Some of them were a genuine PITA. One in particular comes to mind. For the most part I think it has been a great transition. The people who wanted to leave left, the people who didn't stayed...everyone is happy. Almost. I never liked being in the position where I was watching two ......or three? people go at it and betting on which one the mod was going to pull first. Blow, counter blow, blow, counter blow....yawn.....get the popcorn. I don't enjoy that. There are some real dedicated guys here who go out on a limb to help others upstairs. It's better now. Wouldn't you agree?
  6. School has changed so much. My principle had a boat paddle and she could really swing that thang.............ouch.
  7. That one looks very similar to this one. I have it. Unfortunately it developed a split right down the side of the lid after a year. I never dropped it? I might try the one you mentioned. thx.
  8. I think you'll be happy with the JB violin. The main issue I had with using it was getting my latency down pretty low. I worked around that by using a lighter violin vst for recording and swapping it out later with JB. One thing that keeps me in line is, there's always another sale right around the corner...............and my C drive is full. I have a new drive and hope to get it swapped by the new year.
  9. So I'm working on a project that is being exchanged in xml format viewed as notation. What I would like to do is import the xml files as individual midi tracks. Otherwise I would need to put each note from each part from the notation into piano roll view one note at a time, or play it in and make corrections if necessary. Would be less time consuming if I could simply import xml and convert to midi in Cakewalk since there are lots of parts, match the parts up to instruments and build on that mix. Any advice on the best way to go about this? Thanks.
  10. I was afraid to click on this one whew........
  11. I can only speak for myself, but I've had no problems with mine after over two years. I don't use it every day though so maybe there is some truth to the reviews. The main reason I bought mine was because I just don't have the time to fire up and tend to a Breville Barista. I wanted something that made espresso fast. It does that. If you're not as into espresso then I guess it wouldn't make as much sense for you. I like espresso ok, but drinking too much of that would have me wired all the time 🙃. On the cheap a french press is tough to beat. The main thing I liked about the Cuisinart was no glass pitcher to accidentally break. I have had a few of those Keurig machines and try to avoid the environmental impact the plastic cups have. Plus I can use any coffee I want to use in my Cuisinart. One thing to watch out for is brewing temperature. Many consumer brewers don't really get the water hot enough to make a good cuppa. Ideally 196-205 degrees is best. 212 is boiling and I think manufacturers don't like the potential scalding risk involved...or maybe they are just cheap and don't want to invest in a machine that takes the water to the right temps. The Cusiniart gets to 190F. Still a little low. Compared to others that might only get to 165 that's pretty good. Commercial brewers usually make better coffee for this reason. Good coffee = the right exposure time>fresh water>right temp>good beans. A simple recipe yet many coffee makers only make "passable" coffee" or "good enough" for the masses to drink it. JMOP
  12. Glad you were able to pull that off ok Craig. Ouch. True story. I had a cyst in my jaw. I am convinced it was caused by the dentist who performed a root canal on me not long before that. He let some of the stuff he used get deep into my jaw....anyways they seen it on the x-ray and decided they had to remove it. Only problem being two perfectly healthy teeth were in the way. I was told it had to be done for my health and the two teeth needed to be removed, so two perfectly healthy back teeth were pulled so the surgeon could get to the cyst. Fast forward 6 months and I had titanium implant stubs placed into my jaw. They take months to grow into place, so for a long time my mouth looked like the terminator in the back. Kinda cool looking on the x-ray though. A few weeks ago they began the process to secure teeth to the stubs. 6000 dollars (out of pocket)later I can say they did a great job. The teeth are zircon and harder than my real teeth. You can't tell they aren't my real teeth and most importantly I can now chew on that side of my mouth again....now for the other part of the story. Not two days after all of that work was done I was eating from a bag of granola and must have bitten down on a particularly hard piece. One of my front incisors broke right in half. That tooth had been filled so nothing hurts, just looks bad. My dental benefits have expired for 2019, so I guess I'll just have to live with it a few at least another month or two......it never ends.
  13. Mesh I use the Aeropress occasionally too. Makes a great cup of coffee. Also use a french press which is similar but you don't need filters for it. You don't need to be French to use it BTW 😁 I am sort of a coffee nut...ok I take that back. I'm a full blown addict. I am a functional addict though. Two cups a day max. Never mind the cups are a gallon each. I roast my own green coffee beans using the heat gun bread maker method. Most of what's good about coffee is in the bean types and methods of roast. Most people never have a truly good cup of coffee. Another thing about coffee. It doesn't have a very long shelf life even if you keep it in an air tight container. Two weeks max and it looses most of the good flavor. The first week is usually the best. Fresh roasted as in just out of the roaster to the pot is amazing with the right beans. Some will tell you that it gives off too much co2 that early. If that concerns you wait a day or two. Never bothered me. Machines I use- Cusinart. This machine sometimes gets a bad wrap because the people who use it let coffee grounds get into the valve you push for coffee. Never been a problem for me. I love mine. I set the timer the night before. The next morning a cup of coffee is waiting on me before I go out the door. For espresso I use a KRUPS automatic. They have a newer generation of this one out now, though this one might still be for sale. I love mine. Can't beat it for being on the run in the morning. I have had this for two years with no issues. It's a "bean to cup machine". Dump in roasted beans and it makes espresso. Has a built in milk frother. Don't let the initial price scare you. I managed a deal at Bed Bath and Beyond using discounts and coupons and got the price WAY down.
  14. I have realized I can make ok music with what I have which is a far cry from the samples collections those who are into movie production use. If you are happy with it and if you are doing this mainly for you what else matters? In some forum settings I've been in, there is an expectation that the poster wants critique and so people go over it with a fine toothed comb. In other forums it's all about "feel good" and you could post almost anything and someone will like it and seldom will anyone comment about anything they hear and flag as an issue. In many cases the general feel or vibe of the place dictates popularity. IOW if you happen to be making pop music and 90% of the listener base makes rock/pop you are more likely to be affirmed. I can say that because I noticed when I started to compose music that wasn't pop people would say, "This isn't really my cuppa" and then go on to attempt to say something about it. No harm in that. They are just being honest, so I keep my expectations low when I post anything at one of those sites which isn't very often BTW. On the other side of it at some composer forums those guys are often well versed in music theory but don't have a clue about DAWS, so they put together stuff with low end rompler samples and well..........it's going to sound like it unfortunately. Some of them are coming around to DAWS. I have a tough time wrapping my head around what some of them are trying to do. I mean no disrespect there. I just don't "get it". Not the kind of thing I would sit around listening to. I'm sure some of them would probably say the same things about the music I make. The reason I feel the way I do is because I think music should at least go somewhere, even if it isn't the common pop/rock VCVCBCC or similar. If a person is writing classical music I need to feel something besides dizzy.
