  1. I get the same thing in my CbB. Also fails in Cubase 10.0.15-- the two controls reload with the same value. It doesn't seem to have relative linking at all, I'm not sure that's a bug more like a completely missing feature. The oversampling light doesn't restore on a reload either (but the value 1x/2x/4x does restore).
  2. Soft iLok failures (you format the hard drive, lose the computer, the computer stops working) require you to contact each company and get them to issue you a new license. Some vendors are better about this than others. I can't remember anyone saying how EastWest handles it. I really don't recommend anyone use the soft iLok option. It's just pain waiting to happen. If your physical iLok stops working, even without the zero downtime subscription, you mail it in and they will restore your licenses. Zero downtime gets you temporary licenses instantly but isn't required for hardware failure recovery, but you have to wait for them to verify and reset your licenses (and buy a new iLok). If a physical iLok is stolen/lost though I believe you are in the same boat as the soft failure crowd. The iLok software has gotten better over the years, but it still can cause issues. For me it's mostly been painless, but not everyone is so lucky. In the end it's really more about the library product than the copy protection. Too many forum users focus in on copy protection issues and overlook the actual libraries. In my opinion these days there are much better libraries in most every category for anything EastWest offers. Play is just not good software. It doesn't have near the feature set it should (at this point in its development) and doesn't work very well. And that isn't going to change either. But you could say the same thing about Kontakt, UVI Workstation, Halion, Best Engine, etc. The economics of the sampler market means it's unlikely that is going to change really. EastWest's subscription offer though gives you an interesting way to try it out. Subscribe for a month or a year and see how it goes. Then buy what you liked.
  3. Play only works with iLok licensed libraries. Installing it without owning something from EastWest will give you nothing, I don't think there are any demo/limited/trial libraries even. So yes it requires iLok software be installed.
  4. Yes closing the performance monitor does stop it, it is definitely something to do with reading the CPU usage. Also creating the key and setting it to 1 stops it (and the CPU meters). Creating it and setting it to 0 (the default value) it still keeps getting queried (though it doesn't get a not found error). Does it effect performance? Probably not, but perhaps something that could be improved on. Doesn't effect my Sampletank problem, but at this point I've given up on Sampletank and CbB. Near as I can tell it's just this machine (which I just built) no one else is complaining about it. If that changes perhaps it will get fixed too.
  5. So in a vain and foolish attempt to figure out why Sampletank 4 crashes CbB every time I insert it I ran Microsoft's Sysinternals Process Monitor on Cakewalk and noticed something a bit odd. CbB seems to be querying the registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib\Disable Performance Counters over and over and over and over and over again. And since it doesn't exist, it keeps getting an error. This can't be good. It could be something about my machine (I develop software so I have a ton of development tools installed) . But it really should only check it once I'd think. To reproduce this, run procmon and filter for process name contains cakewalk. Start Cakewalk.exe make a new blank project. I'm running the most recent build 2019.03 (Build 20, 64 bit). I'm not sure if it was doing this before I updated this morning. Oddly enough running procmon causes Sampletank 4 not to crash on insert. Perhaps there is some sort of multi-thread race condition in CbB? This machine is a i9-9960x with 16 physical cores. ST4 works fine in Cubase and Reaper but in CbB and SONAR Plat it crashes (without a crash catcher) every time I add it.
  6. Have you tried more recent builds of UVI Workstation? A while ago they had a release that would crash instantly on my Gulftown Intel CPU. They had compiled UVI workstation to use processor extensions that required a Sandy Bridge or newer CPU. I sent them details on the problem and explained what they broke and why that was bad. They sent me a new build a day later and shipped it to everyone later that week. And while they don't list Windows 7, it does still work. I doubt it's the problem your having, but they have been reasonably willing to fix things if you can help them narrow down the problem.
  7. My eSoundz account says I paid $59 for Cinema Sessions Gold (they have had some crazy sales over the years) and I kind of think I overpaid. And that was for all four of the Cinema Sessions. eSoundz have quit selling this and all the infinite player instruments, I think. https://sonicreality.com/sounds/cinema-sessions/5447.html They don't sell the Infinite Player any more (no more Native Instrument serial numbers maybe)?, but these boxed versions may be the full package including Infinite Player serial numbers. If not it would be unusable. There is nothing wrong with the sounds in these but also nothing amazing or great (at least not by 2019 standards). Unless you really want Infinite Player for Kontakt for some reason I'd say these aren't deals you want.
  8. In addition to the minidump you might also send (or make available) the project file and wave files that have the problem. You want to give any developer enough material to be able to reproduce the crash 100% of the time. Stripping out/down everything if you can. So for example if you make a new blank project, import a single wave file, stretch it and then bounce and it crashes, having that project (with the stretch) and the wave file (saved before the bounce) should mean they could just load it up and reproduce the crash.
  9. You should be able to update Play to version 5 (version 6 requires you buy the software). There may be issues with word builder stuff (they made a bunch of changes in how that worked over the years). I can't really remember how that worked in version 3. You might want to screenshot all your settings in the plugin so you can re-set them up by hand after updating, just in case. I don't think updating Windows is necessary. I've ran Win 7 for a very long time and it's still usable. Not sure about your Roland sound card though, you may have trouble with getting good stable drivers (for any OS). That can be kind of hit or miss, I don't have any experience with the Octa Capture. You definitely should update it's firmware and drivers (yes both parts). Looks like it's still supported though. You may need to raise your ASIO buffer size. Try at least 1024 and see if that stops the crashing. A large template with a lot of soft synths may just be too much for your computer at very small buffer sizes, which can cause crashes with some plugins.
  10. Your crash is in rdas1110.dll which I think is the Roland Octo driver? I see WordBuilderPlayVSTx64.dll in the module list, that doesn't seem very recent. Looks like EastWest Play 3.0.40.0 which is way behind current versions (and was always buggy back then). If I were dealing with this I'd start by updating a lot of software, starting with the Roland driver but all the plugins/etc. And Windows too. Update until there is nothing left to update. Then see if it crashes (sadly it most likely will) but you might have a better chance of finding a solution.
  11. You can buy a 6 pack bundle of MIDI expansions for 50% but this sale doesn't seem to apply to the bundles. So I'd say go to your favorite retailer and buy a 6 pack. 20% isn't a deal.
  12. Might want to try uninstalling and updating and reinstalling the iLok software.
  13. If you own the full NOVO you should have a coupon in your account under the "offers" tab to get this for $80 off. I didn't get any email about it though. Not exactly sure adding it (even for $19) to full NOVO is a big win, but I am pretty fond of NOVO. More or less it has become my go-to string library, but I don't think it's worth the full price($549). What this essentials version seems to include is a pretty good deal: includes mics and the articulations you'd want and it works with Kontakt player. I suspect if you were willing to wait long enough you might see this at half off, but even at $120 it seems reasonably priced.
  14. Got a response back from PA, "it is not a problem if you want to take advantage of the voucher. Some Tantra owners received the Thorn voucher by mistake, please don't feel like you would be cheating us." So I guess they are good with it.
  15. I opened a ticket about it at PA, but have gotten no response. I'm not sure they care. But I bet Dmitry does, he's a good guy.
  16. Epica Bass is pretty nice. Not quite as useful as the original (due to limited focus) but still pretty decent. Sadly it's holding me back on getting this, I don't think I have any of the others but I'm getting tired of buying bundles with overlaps.
  17. They didn't send any emails. In fact I don't think they ever tell anyone about updates to purchased bundles. I've seen several bundles I've bought get additional files (happens mostly with book bundles). And a few game bundles where they added Steam keys to indie games that at purchase weren't on Steam yet. Not sure there is any easy way to track that with them. In this case I had opened a ticket with them over getting the files, so I got a notification through their support system. They also added zips for Virtual Music, Sound Unbound, and Music Cognition and Computerized Sound. The Audio Programming Book zip is kind of hard to fully extract on Windows/PC due to the overlong Mac filenames. But I think it only effects some of the open source software they include the source for (which newer versions of which are already on the net). The "meat" of the update extracts easily. I have to admit I spend way too much at Humble Bundle (have had a month sub for years now and buy lots of bundles). It's one of the best sites for digital content. Wish they would do a VST/VI bundle.
  18. Just FYI Humble Bundle has updated the downloads for the Computer Music book bundle to have all the support zips with the supplements. Download them from your account.
  19. When you reload the project none of the bucket assignments are restored. Everything is unassigned, with one track assigned to bucket 1. I think that's what you get. Works fine while the project is open, but can't seem to reconnect the tracks to the buckets on a load.
  20. From that page: EZBass Tentative release: Q4 2019 Orchestral Percussion SDX Tentative release: Q2 2019 Decades SDX Tentative release: Q4 2019 Pop Punk EZX Tentative release: Q1 2019 Wouldn't make any big plans on EZBass. Will be nice next year when it shows up but right now it's just marketing.
  21. It has the Scheps Omni insert feature. But not in the bucket view.
  22. In Cakewalk and Cubase CLA Mix Hub (vst3 version) gets the track name from the DAW. In that video it looks like he had to type the track names by hand. Is that a Studio One problem? Handy Cakewalk/SONAR tip, if you mult-select tracks(select the track number in the mix/trackview) and hold ctrl while dropping a plugin it will add it to every selected track. Can be a big time saver with this.
  23. Got it with Mercury. I think it's the first "free" plugin I've gotten out of the deal (Sibilance I got the give away version so it doesn't count). Played with it for an hour or so. It's kind of painful to use really (Waves needs to get on the resize bandwagon). Cubase and Cakewalk both have everything in the mix console views to cover what this does for workflow. So I guess that leaves the sound. As the SSL desk/console sound I think I like Scheps Omni Channel better.
  24. MakeMusic not only removes support on older products, they have a history of stopping upgrade offers for older versions (which is why I remain with my ancient Kontakt-era GPO, their sales guys said I needed to buy a full priced GPO 5 and wouldn't extend any upgrade offers). So if you really want this upgrade discount I'd recommend doing it soon.
  25. If you bought Ark 1 from NI during the Dec sale you already have this update. My Ark 1 is version 1.2 and the Capsule script is 2.7.0, which I believe is this version. Not sure if NI purchasers need to do anything to be included in future updates, but this one I think they already have.
